I saw a customer at the desk complaining about something and was a bit upset, after he left, the staff at the desk laughed at him with other staff... I thought it wasn't very professional. Also when we asked for a fan, the staff who delivered it didn't even look at or say anything to us but just hand it out and left. Very small point but so easy to achieve and so am pointing out so that the hotel can be perfect

El hotel es fácilmente accesible, justo en la intersección de la avenida Guannan y la calle Guangfu, junto al lago Dianchi y con impresionantes vistas. Además, está convenientemente ubicado cerca de atracciones como el Parque de los Humedales y la Aldea Étnica de Yunnan.
La arquitectura del hotel desprende un fuerte encanto del sudeste asiático. Nada más entrar, te sientes como si estuvieras de vacaciones en Tailandia. La vegetación tropical y la exquisita decoración crean un ambiente relajante y acogedor.
¡Las aguas termales y el spa del hotel son realmente un punto culminante! La piscina cubierta climatizada con atrio, de 1130 metros cuadrados, cuenta con aguas cristalinas, ideales para un refrescante baño. También hay una zona de juegos infantiles donde los niños no querrán irse. En el exterior, hay 18 piscinas termales, cada una con un hermoso diseño y privacidad. El baño de vapor de sal también merece una visita; te deja con una sensación de relajación total. También disfruté de un masaje de aromaterapia herbal. La técnica experta del masajista y su suave presión fueron perfectas, dejándome completamente renovado. Las opciones gastronómicas también son excelentes. El restaurante de mariscos Xilehui y el restaurante Yiduo Yuntai ofrecen un menú rico y variado, con cocina de Yunnan, Sichuan, cantonesa y tailandesa, para todos los gustos. Cada plato se prepara con ingredientes frescos y es increíblemente delicioso.
El servicio es excepcionalmente atento, desde el personal de recepción al momento del check-in hasta el personal de las aguas termales. Todos son muy amables y atentos, y cualquier solicitud es atendida con prontitud. ¡Esta estancia fue realmente maravillosa y sin duda volveré a alojarme aquí cuando esté en Kunming!

Debido a que íbamos a tomar un tren, le pedimos al personal del hotel que nos ayudara a recoger varias cosas y nos proporcionara tarjetas de salida. La actitud de servicio del conserje y. Las señoritas de la recepción fueron muy amables y realmente nos sentimos como en casa. Como somos chicas, la recepción tomó la iniciativa de darnos una habitación para no fumadores. Aunque la decoración de la habitación no era nueva, no había olor y la vista nocturna de Kunming desde el piso 26 era bastante buena.

El jefe vio que éramos personas mayores y nos arregló especialmente una habitación muy tranquila. Cuando salimos a jugar, nos envió especialmente a la estación de metro. Nos conmovió mucho y seguiremos quedándonos la próxima vez.

GGlenysMFairyland Shangpin Hotel in Kunming, is a really nice hotel, in a terrific location….. but as the extra bit in title mentions, is in a pedestrian street, therefore if you have a mountain of luggage, or mobility issues, or toddlers & babies to carry, you might want to think twice about booking here or in any other hotel in the pedestrian streets in the neighbourhood. It’s one of the fabulous features of the area, but you do need to be aware that vehicles are not allowed in this area….. AND …. the only way into the hotel is via a flight of stairs.
My Grab driver from the airport dropped me off where his gps directed him to, but it meant an overly long walk lugging my bag through crowds of tourists on a stinking hot Sunday arv on cobbled streets (obviously not designed when wheeled suitcases were invented!). I discovered the next day that Wuyi Rd subway station is really close to the hotel… less than a 5 minute walk away. Turn left outside the hotel entrance. Turn right at the corner (150m away), and one of the entrances to the subway is just along there on the right. When I looked it up, it turns out it takes half the time to & from the airport as it does by car and costs next to nothing, so I caught it to the airport (just 1 easy transfer along the way), and was really glad I did. It’s a pity the hotel doesn’t include that important info in its listing!
The hotel’s Reception & dining room staff are all super friendly and nice, and my room was really lovely, with a great shower, power points that my Australian hair straightener and phone chargers plugged straight into, and a big window that opens and which overlooks rooftops, alleyways, cafes, high-rises and lots more. There’s also a window beside every lift entrance, so you can all the locals dancing in the public square, which is just fabulous!
There is a laundry for guest use on the same floor as the breakfast room, but every time I checked, both machines were in use, so I wouldn’t count on getting any washing done if you’re only staying for a couple of days.
Loved wandering around the cobbled streets (from right outside the hotel), day & night. Lots to see & do. Lots of colour, lots of people (including all the locals folk dancing together in the square), lots of places to eat, drink and shop nearby. Highly recommend Fairyland Shangpin Hotel to those who are ok with walking (& pulling luggage) over cobblestones, and up & down stairs to and from the hotels entrances (one to the front door, and a second entrance near the lift). It’s worth it! ☺️

PPsymondDespite the convenient location, comfortable beds, and all-important quiet sleep we managed to get, the hotel's communication to arrange our pick up from the train station at night and what turned out to be a self-check-in was just dismal, clearly needing more training to ensure better organisation for future guests. The following constructive advice is to help the hotel improve and for (particularly foreign) guests to note:
1. Ask for guests' phone number and inform the driver well in advance of our arrival, instead of waiting till the very last minute to do so. We reached out to the hotel via WeChat the day before and rightfully received detailed instructions (in Chinese) to find the driver (the pick up service is actually outsourced to a separate company using 3 different vans), but once we found the van, the driver angrily insisted we call the hotel to identify us by confirming our phone number - we were not allowed to board without the hotel's confirmation, which should have been done directly with the driver well in advance of our arrival.
2. This hotel is not manned after hours, let alone 24 hours, so please make it known well beforehand that we will have to check in ourselves if arriving after hours, and provide clear instructions on how to do so instead of communicating them through the phone while guiding us using the security cameras. It is not the guests' responsibility to do your administrative work (to report ourselves to the authorities by scanning the police QR code and filling out our details) at 11 o'clock at night when we have an early morning train to catch the following day. The hotel should allow guests to enter the room as soon as possible upon arrival, not have us wait half an hour while they struggle with what was clearly their first time checking in foreign guests - worse still over the phone - insisting that this be done before we could enter our room.
3. If the hotel truly wants the patronage of foreign guests, they will have to prioritise our convenience and comfort over theirs by actually having someone check us in in-person. Remotely doing so to save costs is as absurd as expecting foreign guests to communicate our details over the phone, sending photos of ourselves, our passport details etc. via WeChat, and then finding our room card and the room by talking to someone over the phone in Chinese. At the very least, these requirements and instructions should be clearly produced and communicated beforehand so that nothing is improvised.
We hope the above experience helps improve what is a decent hotel providing good value for money.
