Rats in restaurant On arrival the hotel is really beautiful - a small oasis tucked away with gorgeous colonial style. The reception staff were really lovely and made us feel welcome. The room was really nice - but there were a few things we noticed (which we let slide at the start) - massive dirty lipstick mark on one of our water glasses, filthy lampshades above the bathroom sinks, bed linen that didn’t feel particularly fresh and the robes as well had a slight greyish colour rather than bright white which they were meant to be. These were all minor things at the start which we didn’t even mention to each other but did notice. We then had our first night at the cocktail bar where our drink was served by the lovely barman (very polite and smily) - as we were drinking we saw a huge rat run across the terrace - we decided it was an island and maybe this is normal (although we really weren’t happy about it). We then were dining within the restaurant and again a huge rat was running towards the table. For us, this is not ok. We asked to move tables as we saw a rat and the waiters barely acknowledged it - didn’t offer any apology and then proceeded to avoid our table for the rest of the night. We informed the manager the next day who assured us he was aware and the rat had been caught, and to “give it a chance”. We weren’t offered so much as a complimentary drink. After dining in the restaurant again the second night and again seeing a rat - for us it was time to check out. Not only is it unpleasant seeing rodents running around while eating but I would say it’s a hygiene issue and makes me question the cleanliness of the kitchen and the safety of the food. The only concession we were offered was to not pay for the remaining nights that we would not be staying for. Really disappointing. On hindsight some things we would add about the whole experience: - Not a 5 star in terms of food, service or cleanliness - Staff really hit and miss - some very friendly some really rude and unhelpful - Rooms didn’t feel clean - Food was average - nothing felt fresh including breakfast - Quite stingey with water - water not replaced within our room (had to ask for it) We are now staying at a different hotel and haven’t seen one rat, so don’t think this is “just an island thing” as the manager stated. The service and food are also worlds apart which has really solidified that our review of 20 degres sud as completely justified - not a 5 star experience whatsoever.

Después de unas maravillosas vacaciones de 14 días en Mauricio, fue un descanso. Solo puede encontrar un lugar de bajo costo en el área local para prepararse para la adherencia a largo plazo. El nivel del hotel es como en casa, pero con cocina y sala de estar. El jefe es holandés y gordo. La propietaria es un negro local. Los dos se quedaron en el hotel. Por primera vez se olvidaron de comprar sal para cocinar, así que les pidieron que la resolvieran. Las habitaciones se limpian dos veces por semana y las instalaciones son normales. La última vez que salí fue a las 11 de la noche. Hablé con el jefe y salí a las 6 de la tarde. Acepté muy fácilmente. Oh, hay dos piscinas muy pequeñas en el hotel. El lugar es difícil de encontrar, hay autobuses en la carretera, pero yo no. Intenté salir una vez a pie. Aunque esta es una buena comunidad para los estándares locales, todavía se siente muy desierta, especialmente por la noche. Finalmente alquilé un auto.

Nuestra experiencia ha sido mágica. Llegamos a primera hora de la mañana y en seguida nos atendieron. Nos ofrecieron el desayuno y pronto pudimos disfrutar de la habitación e instalaciones. Las instalaciones son encantadoras, la habitacion muy amplia, una terraza y unas vistas espectaculares a la laguna- playa del hotel. La atencion de todo el personal fue muy cercana y atenta. Los menús fueron muy variados y los 4 restaurantes que tienen en el interior te dan una gran variedad para la mayoria de los gustos. La mejor vista la tienes desde el Península, y en el X-O puedes tener una cena al estilo shushi muy romántica. Una de las piscinas es climatizada y las otras 2, más grandes son a temperatura ambiente. El hotel también pone a disposicion de los huespedes unos taxis propios para que te lleven a donde quieras y esperan por ti. Nosotros todos los días salimos en busca de todos los puntos de interes. Todos los conductores fueron muy amables aunque debo señalar y agradecer especialmente a Padw ya que fué muy atento y respondiendo todas nuestras preguntas y curiosidades sobre Mauricio. El resumen, un lugar al que nos encantaría volver en el futuro.

Trou Aux Biches
Note: we stayed in July 2022, not November! We loved it at Easy Stay! After a short trip to the East coast we decided to head back to Trou aux Biches. While searching for accommodation we found this little gem! Located almost beachfront with huge rooms and a huge balcony. The breakfast is a local breakfast which is prepared and served freshly. The staff is so friendly and loving and welcoming that we were really really sad when we had to leave after one week! This was the best place we stayed at, mainly thanks to the staff. The interior of the rooms was not our taste and the „kitchenette“ was not really kitchen, but a counter and a fridge. You can’t cook there. Otherwise you have a great view from the first floor and can watch the sunset from your own balcony. We loved it there and I will happily recommend this place to anyone who wants to go to Trou aux Biches!! We miss the lovely ladies working there!!!

First time in Mauritius & certainly did not disappoint ! Check in process with iced tea & cold flannels to refresh very welcome ! Lovely large garden room - housekeeping staff kept the place spotless - bedding changed every other day & towels & toiletries as required along with bottled water . Ate in all the a la carte restaurants - no complaints - disappointed to read comments about hygiene in buffet restaurant - house keeping staff were permanantly cleaning up after diners had finished their meals - & there was certainly some mess to clear up at times !! Having been to other AI resorts where there are trees & foliage near the dining area birds & insects are always going to be around - however chefs were always walking around checking food ….. wobbly tables - C’est la vie !!! The staff are a huge asset - lovely people including Vinay,Ramesh,Innesh,Josh & Suraj . All in all a lovely sun soaked holiday🏝️🍹 -
