We’ve just returned from Dali, and the place we keep thinking about most is this hidden gem at the foot of Cangshan Mountain — Mutian Time Designer Guesthouse.
Oriental aesthetics in every corner
The guesthouse is converted from a century-old traditional Bai courtyard house. With its grey-tiled roofs, white walls, and beautifully carved wooden structures, the space carries a quiet sense of history and elegance. The courtyard features water elements, stone paths, and blue and yellow lanterns that create beautiful layers of light and shadow during the day. At night, the soft lighting outlines the architecture and gives the entire space a warm, cinematic atmosphere.
The common areas are equally charming, with a stone-built fireplace, vintage furniture, and art pieces thoughtfully placed throughout. The design blends traditional Eastern aesthetics with modern touches, creating a space that feels both timeless and refined.
Comfort with thoughtful details
Our room was spacious, bright, and very comfortable. A stone feature wall behind the bed, paired with soft bedding and warm lighting, created a subtle sense of “wild luxury” while still feeling cosy and relaxed. Opening the window reveals the courtyard view — waking up to birdsong in the morning and watching the lanterns glow in the evening adds a special charm to the stay.
Warm and attentive service
From booking to check-out, the hosts were welcoming and attentive. Upon arrival, they introduced the history of the house and highlighted the design features of the property, and were happy to recommend nearby restaurants and local spots to explore.
The afternoon tea was beautifully presented, with fresh fruit and delicate snacks — perfect for enjoying a slow afternoon in the courtyard. Breakfast included some local Bai-style flavours, simple yet delicious, and a lovely way to start the day.
A peaceful location near the old town
The guesthouse is tucked away in Zhongyin Village at the foot of Cangshan Mountain, about a 15-minute drive from Dali Ancient Town. It offers a quiet retreat away from the crowds while still being conveniently close to the main attractions. Surrounded by village life and forested hills, the air feels fresh and full of the scent of nature.
More than just a place to stay, Mutian Time feels like a living piece of art. It brought a sense of calm and poetry to our trip to Dali. If you’re looking to experience the slower, more peaceful side of Dali, this is definitely a place worth staying.

UUsuario invitadoThe best experience in Dali. The room is such a dream. The hotel provides everything including biscuits for the seagulls. We are able to feed the seagulls from our room and husband said it’s the best experience ever. The hotel staffs took care of us and everything that we need. They are friendly and helpful. Making sure our stay is comfortable. I’ll definitely recommend and will stay here again probably try another room type when I’m back again. Thank u Ting Hua Island for the hospitality.

KKatherineliewtanWe stayed at Lishe seaview resort hotel for 2 nights. The hotel upgraded us to a two-room apartment which I did not expect! The apartment had spectacular view of Erhai in the living room and master bedroom. I had the foresight of having one free and easy day and we pretty much stayed in most of the time to soak in the view. The staff service was amazing. The team reached out to me via trip.com the day before we check in (fantastic initiative) as overseas visitors like me are not familiar with the WeChat usage. When we arrive, the staff were on standby to receive us and bring us to the apartment as we got there via our own driver. The hotel sent nightly desert (white fungus) to our apartment. One important aspect of the hotel is the delicious and wide spread of breakfast. The breaky was on the highest floor offering great views of Erhai, and the lady attendant there was polite, cheerful and has great service. When we checked, the hotel staff came to the apartment and send us to the car. They also presented a farewell bag of goodies - including rose Chinese cakes (which were super delicious!), tea and sweets. It was an awfully thoughtful gesture. I had the rose Chinese cake during breaky and loved them. So I was super happy to find them in the farewell gift. I would strongly recommend a stay here if you are in Dali. Fellow Singaporeans- you would love this place! I think even if I did not get the upgrade, I would have loved the view too. Just keep one day of doing nothing and enjoy the beautiful view and the hotel hospitality. The hotel staff were service oriented, always smiling, polite and helpful. I mean every staff we encountered, even the cleaning staff! This hotel was a great highlight of our Dali stay. I would definitely come back to stay at Lishe when next back to Dali.

La ubicación es conveniente y está cerca de varios lugares para tomar fotografías y de la principal atracción turística: la antigua ciudad de Dali. El servicio de este hotel es fantástico, uno de los empleados más amables que hemos conocido. En una ocasión, incluso nos ayudaron a transferir nuestra ropa de la lavadora a la secadora; no tuvimos que esperar para hacer el bricolaje y simplemente nos acostamos, la recogimos en la recepción y a la mañana siguiente, lo cual fue una experiencia muy agradable. para nosotros. El gimnasio del hotel también está muy bien equipado si necesita hacer ejercicio para aclimatarse a la mayor altitud. En general, una estancia muy agradable para nosotros tres.

Wwendy_****El hotel tiene una ubicación excelente; se puede tomar un taxi fácilmente sin tener que caminar con el equipaje, y además está a la vuelta de la esquina, en la calle Renmin del casco antiguo. El joven personal que nos recibió fue muy amable y nos ayudó con cualquier problema. El café y el té eran ilimitados, y los recuerdos que recibimos al hacer el check-out fueron preciosos. El único inconveniente fue que las instalaciones de la habitación estaban un poco anticuadas y el baño era pequeño.

RRoselynn HuynhThis hotel is honestly so photogenic, perfect for Instagram :)) There are flowers everywhere and the whole place has a very calm, chill vibe.
Their service was really impressive. They contacted us one day before our stay and even arranged a driver to pick us up from Dali train station, which made everything super easy. The butlers were also very helpful, always quick to respond and attentive to anything we needed.
They even gave us a free ride to our next hotel, which was such a nice extra touch. On top of that, they gifted me a cute elephant keychain for good fortune, so thoughtful and memorable.
The location is great too, very convenient to get around.

大理的酒店、民宿很多，看了很多攻略，再三糾結篩選後，選中了位於雙廊古鎮核心位置的這家酒店，圖十四海中的房子就是酒店。正宗一線海景房，鬧中取靜，服務到位。酒店提前一天主動聯繫我加了微信，第二天就在停車場來接我們了。相對來説，春節後出行正值旅行淡季，到了酒店主動幫我們升級了幾個檔次的房間，看了房間後四人一致通過果斷又續住了一天，酒店還送了旅拍，早餐好看又好吃，離後時還送了我們一人一份豐富的高品質的伴手禮（見末圖）。
一直在旅行，也入過海景房的坑，現在可有經驗了，打開酒店或民宿的首頁，看地址並放大地圖，若地址是xx路xx幾村x號，那一定不會是一線海景房；再打開地圖放大看，酒店位置若前面有路或房子，那一定也不會是一線海景房。另外，這家酒店非民宿，一共有四五家，也稱得上連鎖酒店了，總體來説，酒店的衞生要優於民宿。若説缺點，房間內沒有衣櫥，除了貴其他沒毛病得意😎
