I come to Tokyo several times a year, staying a fortnight or more each time. This time I spent seven nights at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. The room faced Hie Shrine. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows I could see the shrine's copper roof and half of Tokyo's skyline. The décor was modern without excess; the layout flowed easily, Bose speakers hidden in the walls, another set in the bathroom ceiling, connected by a 3.5mm jack. The curtains were motorized, though you hardly needed to close them. The turndown service. I would leave in the evening and return late to find the room changed: only the hallway light and bedside lamp left on, a bottle of water and a glass on the nightstand, two chocolates beside them. The evening tea and teacup, previously stored in the cabinet, had been moved next to the coffee machine. These changes were so slight you had to think back carefully to confirm they had happened at all. The temperature and humidity had been adjusted. As if the room itself remembered your habits. Room service fell short of the ryokan in Hakone or Lake Toya, but well above the ordinary hotel. Each day I made two or three cups of complimentary coffee, played music, read, wrote. In seven days I finished three books. The research ahead began to take shape. There were drawbacks. No washing machine, but a decent laundromat ten minutes' walk away—a chance to wander the streets of Akasaka. The room provided HDMI and ethernet ports but no cables; for those who came to rest, perhaps a mercy. The minibar fridge was mostly occupied by drinks for purchase, same as the Imperial, though there was still room for my sparkling water. The day I left it was half past five and fully dark. I could barely make out the faces of the bellhop and the taxi driver. Together they loaded my luggage into the boot. I wished the bellhop a happy new year in Japanese and told her I liked her hat. She smiled and returned the greeting. As the taxi pulled out of the underground drive, I thought of the inns Kawabata once wrote about: what had to be sought in the mountains of snow country can now be reached by elevator from the B2 exit of a metro station. I have watched the Shinagawa Prince Hotel loosen quietly over time, slip a little. That kind of decline is rarely one great error. It begins the day someone forgets to leave a glass of water, neglects to move a packet of tea, omits a newspaper. As for The Capitol Hotel Tokyu: in Japanese, what I experienced over these seven days is called ちょうどいい.

Have stayed at Andaz Tokyo for multiple times since 2015. It is still my favorite hotel. This time everything was just perfect. Friendly staff, comfortable room and well thought design. Will definitely stay again soon.

Our family stay at Janu Tokyo was outstanding and thoughtfully designed for traveling with children while maintaining a high level of luxury. Requests were handled promptly, and the overall hospitality felt polished yet relaxed. The facilities are world-class and particularly well suited for families. The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, and practical, offering enough room for both adults and children to unwind comfortably. Shared spaces, wellness areas, and amenities were impeccably maintained and easy to enjoy as a family. Dining was another highlight. The food quality was excellent, with options that worked well for both adults and children. The atmosphere across restaurants felt refined but welcoming, making family meals enjoyable rather than stressful. The location in Azabudai Hills is a major advantage for families—clean, modern, and less chaotic than some central Tokyo districts, while still being very convenient. Everything felt safe, accessible, and thoughtfully planned. Overall, Janu Tokyo delivers a rare combination of ultra-luxury and genuine family friendliness. It is an excellent choice for families seeking a sophisticated yet comfortable stay in Tokyo, and we would absolutely return.

This was my first time staying at The Peninsula Tokyo, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we began corresponding with the hotel before arrival, the team made it clear that this was going to be a special stay. I had reached out in advance as this was an important trip for our family, and the team – especially Ms. Kim – went above and beyond to help organise everything smoothly. Every detail was handled with care, and it really set the tone for our visit. Throughout our stay, every interaction made us feel genuinely welcome. The lobby team, the staff at Peter, and housekeeping were all consistently warm, professional, and attentive. Small gestures, friendly smiles, and a real willingness to help turned a simple hotel stay into a collection of memories we will cherish for a long time. This trip has made The Peninsula Tokyo our new fav stay in the city. There is a wonderful sense of warmth and hospitality here, and you feel that everyone is truly invested in making your stay as special as possible. We are already looking forward to returning on our next visit to Tokyo.

Room and bed were very comfortable, immaculately clean and modern. 2 mins walk from train station, if you need lift access to train then a 6 mins walk, we had a stroller. Breakfast was a bit of a zoo, we went during Christmas, very busy! But tables were spacious so even though there were so many people you don’t feel cramped. Good variety of food selection. We had dinner at the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant. Delicious, especially the tuna salad. I found the lobby staff a little lack of personality, at check in, no mentioning of where breakfast will be, what time check out is. Just checked you in and that’s it, no personal notes in the room. When I expressed I’ve lost my phone at the shop in Tokyo, no sign of empathy (it was a western male staff) no gesture of helpfulness, very cold and robotic. This goes for concierge also, he is an older western gentleman, he needs to use Google translate also which is frustrating cause I could do exactly the same research with Google translate. Overall, hardware is solid, need to fine tune the staff, sprinkle a little bit of personality in them.

Muy buen hotel, buena ubicación, puedes ver la Torre de Tokio desde la ventana de la habitación. Viajar también es muy conveniente, hay muchos restaurantes e izakayas para elegir en las cercanías. También está muy cerca de Ginza. Si me da pereza caminar, la B2 puede llevarme directamente a la estación de metro. Esto es muy conveniente. Un día llovió mucho y no se vio afectado en absoluto. Tomé el metro hasta Nihonbashi y entré a Takashimaya directamente desde el pasaje subterráneo, jaja. Sin embargo, hubo un pequeño problema al hacer el check-in. Debido a la barrera del idioma y al hecho de que el personal de recepción parecía ser una chica novata, la comunicación no fue fluida. Gracias a un miembro del personal experimentado, pude ayudar. Me gustaría disculparme con la niña que está aquí. La expresión ansiosa en el rostro de mi esposa en ese momento probablemente la puso más nerviosa. Lo siento mucho.

We love our stay ! Service is top notched, in a quiet and peaceful environment. We booked the basic apartment n they still managed to give us a nice apt with palace garden views :)) If there was anything we need for a longer stay …. It would be a bigger wardrobe for convenience ! We will be back :)

Este hotel es un punto de referencia en Toyocho, pero presenta varios inconvenientes. Si bien alberga numerosos seminarios, se encuentra a entre 10 y 15 minutos a pie de la estación de metro (Estación Toyocho), por lo que puede resultar un poco difícil orientarse al principio. Hay un centro comercial justo al lado del hotel; en la planta baja encontrará varios restaurantes como Saizeriya, Kazuto y Boko, y también hay muchas opciones gastronómicas como Matsuya y Sukiya de camino a la estación de metro. Una ventaja es que se puede ver la Tokyo Skytree desde la habitación. Además, hay un supermercado en la planta baja, lo que facilita la compra de artículos como cerveza. También hay un servicio de autobús gratuito a Disneyland y se puede tomar el autobús limusina del aeropuerto de Narita desde el hotel. Sin embargo, si su viaje familiar se centra en Disneyland, las comodidades del hotel parecen algo limitadas para un hotel japonés. Ah, y en la planta baja hay una cafetería Komeda donde se puede desayunar.

Quisiera destacar la amabilidad y el excelente inglés del chico de recepción. El primer día le comentamos que queríamos una planta más alta y al día siguiente nos cambió a la última planta, y él mismo se encargó de trasladar nuestro equipaje. Las vistas son preciosas, hasta el punto de hartarme de ver la Torre de Tokio (suena un poco a 'humble brag'). La habitación es grande y el jacuzzi es súper lujoso. Si no fuera por la distancia a la estación de metro, sería la opción perfecta por este precio.
