I come to Tokyo several times a year, staying a fortnight or more each time. This time I spent seven nights at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. The room faced Hie Shrine. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows I could see the shrine's copper roof and half of Tokyo's skyline. The décor was modern without excess; the layout flowed easily, Bose speakers hidden in the walls, another set in the bathroom ceiling, connected by a 3.5mm jack. The curtains were motorized, though you hardly needed to close them. The turndown service. I would leave in the evening and return late to find the room changed: only the hallway light and bedside lamp left on, a bottle of water and a glass on the nightstand, two chocolates beside them. The evening tea and teacup, previously stored in the cabinet, had been moved next to the coffee machine. These changes were so slight you had to think back carefully to confirm they had happened at all. The temperature and humidity had been adjusted. As if the room itself remembered your habits. Room service fell short of the ryokan in Hakone or Lake Toya, but well above the ordinary hotel. Each day I made two or three cups of complimentary coffee, played music, read, wrote. In seven days I finished three books. The research ahead began to take shape. There were drawbacks. No washing machine, but a decent laundromat ten minutes' walk away—a chance to wander the streets of Akasaka. The room provided HDMI and ethernet ports but no cables; for those who came to rest, perhaps a mercy. The minibar fridge was mostly occupied by drinks for purchase, same as the Imperial, though there was still room for my sparkling water. The day I left it was half past five and fully dark. I could barely make out the faces of the bellhop and the taxi driver. Together they loaded my luggage into the boot. I wished the bellhop a happy new year in Japanese and told her I liked her hat. She smiled and returned the greeting. As the taxi pulled out of the underground drive, I thought of the inns Kawabata once wrote about: what had to be sought in the mountains of snow country can now be reached by elevator from the B2 exit of a metro station. I have watched the Shinagawa Prince Hotel loosen quietly over time, slip a little. That kind of decline is rarely one great error. It begins the day someone forgets to leave a glass of water, neglects to move a packet of tea, omits a newspaper. As for The Capitol Hotel Tokyu: in Japanese, what I experienced over these seven days is called ちょうどいい.

Our favourite hotel in the Tokyo Area. Stayed here numerous times over the years. Very conveniently located right on top of Tokyo Station, makes it easy to travel anywhere. Breakfast has a good selection of both Japanese & Western cuisine, and served up in the pleasant Atrium. Service is good as usual, from reception to housekeeping to restaurant staff.

A luxury stay from the minute you check in to when you check out The staff were so attentive and made our stay so welcoming! My sister and I came and they gave us delicious complimentary birthday sweets - only draw back was that due to the location it may be a little noisy at night but that's the only negative. I would definitely stay here again - the pyjamas were also one of the best and comfiest whilst we were in Japan! :)

We visited Tokyo and Japan for the first time on our honeymoon, and staying at Toyosu Premier truly made our trip unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, everything felt special — elegant, peaceful, and perfectly designed for a romantic stay. We couldn’t have chosen a better place. Absolutely 10/10! What we loved: • The hotel feels brand new, modern, and luxuriously designed • Every detail, from the furniture to the amenities, is top quality • The bed was incredibly comfortable — we slept so well every night • Breathtaking panoramic view — we could have stared at it for hours • Spotlessly clean and wonderfully quiet • Perfect location — direct access to the metro through the hotel elevator • Easy to reach from the airport via Limousine Bus with no transfers • The room even had an iron and ironing board — very convenient! Minor downside: • The room was a little small, but still cozy and beautifully designed

Tuvimos una excelente estadía en el Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel. Llegamos en tren, entramos por la puerta lateral y nos impresionó de inmediato el vestíbulo amplio y acogedor. El proceso de registro fue impecable y el set de cuidado facial de cortesía fue un detalle muy considerado. Las instalaciones del spa estaban limpias y nos sentimos muy seguros gracias al acceso con tarjeta. Nuestra habitación era grande, impecable y estaba bien equipada con todo lo necesario. También agradecimos los refrigerios en el vestíbulo (café, té y agua) mientras esperábamos nuestro autobús al aeropuerto. Todo el personal fue muy atento, especialmente el de recepción. Recomiendo ampliamente este hotel a cualquiera que visite Tokio.

Había reservado una estancia de tres días, y como no quería cambiar de hotel, decidí extender mi reserva en Ctrip para la misma habitación, pensando que así no tendría que mover mis cosas y sería más fácil. Pero el día que se acababa mi estancia en la habitación original, fui a primera hora de la mañana a recepción para tramitar la tarjeta de la habitación para la extensión, y me dijeron que tenía que cambiar de habitación, y que me iban a hacer un upgrade a una planta premium en el piso 36. Intenté explicar en recepción que prefería quedarme en mi habitación original y que no necesitaba el upgrade, ya que en ese momento tenía prisa por salir. El recepcionista me dijo que era imposible, alegando que tenían una reserva de grupo, por lo que tenía que empacar mis cosas y dejarlas en consigna, y que no podía hacer el check-in en la nueva habitación hasta que regresara al hotel por la noche. Le sugerí que si era por la reserva de grupo, podrían hacerles el upgrade a ellos, que yo no lo necesitaba, pero él seguía sin aceptar. Las opciones que me dio fueron que un compañero me ayudara a empacar y guardar el equipaje, o que lo hiciera yo mismo. En ese momento me sentí fatal. Precisamente extendí la estancia para no tener que empacar y cambiar de hotel, y resultó ser tan complicado. Tuve que volver corriendo a la habitación, empacar mis cosas y guardarlas, ¡fue realmente frustrante! A veces me molesta mucho la rigidez de los japoneses al manejar las cosas. Por la noche volví a hacer el check-in. La habitación con upgrade era realmente más grande y de mejor calidad que la anterior, pero la forma en que lo manejó la recepción me dejó un mal sabor de boca, me causaron problemas sin necesidad.

Hotel has a convenient location with Otemachi station entrance in same exact building around the corner. A few 24h conbini’s are located around. We had a room facing the park with a stunning view at the sunset and Mt.Fuji. The room itself is clean and spacious, everything needed was inside, staff changed towels daily. Smoking room is around reception and is really comfy as there are 2 vending machines. The only downside - pool operating ours are ending early, which is a bit strange as walking around Tokyo usually does not end around 6-7 pm. and would be great to stretch you legs after a long walk swimming in a pool before going to sleep

Las habitaciones son bastante pequeñas, con un diseño similar al de los hoteles económicos de China. El baño está separado de la habitación por una mampara de cristal. Las instalaciones del hotel son limitadas. No hay piscina ni gimnasio; hay que pagar para usar los que están fuera. Hay un salón común en cada planta donde se puede conseguir agua, pero la selección es limitada y los aperitivos son poco apetitosos. Hay ventanas, pero son prácticamente imposibles de abrir porque dan a los edificios de oficinas de fuera. En general, no vale la pena el precio. Ventajas: El servicio fue bueno; hay que cambiarse de zapatos antes de entrar al hotel, lo cual fue interesante y le dio un toque de estilo tradicional japonés.

El hotel se encuentra en Nishi-Shinjuku, un poco lejos de la estación JR de Shinjuku y de Kabukicho, pero afortunadamente hay autobuses lanzadera frecuentes desde y hacia la salida oeste de Shinjuku. Aunque el hotel muestra signos de antigüedad, las habitaciones renovadas están limpias, ordenadas y ofrecen excelentes vistas. ¡También cabe destacar el gimnasio abierto las 24 horas!

Nos gustan los hoteles Prince, así que nos alojamos en uno de ellos dos o tres veces al año. Sabemos que los hoteles Prince son una cadena tradicional en Japón desde hace mucho tiempo, por lo que son algo antiguos, y se nota que el edificio también lo es… pero nos gusta el buen servicio y la ubicación. Sin embargo, esta vez me decepcionó un poco la higiene del hotel, ya que nos dimos cuenta de que la limpieza no se había realizado correctamente. Vimos hilos de telaraña colgando del techo… y también que el paquete de una bolsita de té japonés estaba roto y que el baño no estaba lo suficientemente limpio cuando entramos… Los hoteles Prince son clásicos y esperaba un alto nivel de higiene en las habitaciones, pero me decepcionó un poco, aunque el personal de recepción fue encantador. Lo positivo de esta vez fue la señora que nos atendió en el registro; fue encantadora y amable, y pudimos apreciar su espíritu hospitalario en la forma en que nos atendió. El jardín exterior era precioso, con hojas que cambiaban de color, y fue muy agradable estar allí. Esperamos que las condiciones de limpieza mejoren y que podamos disfrutar de una estancia agradable en el futuro.
