My wife and I stayed at Turtle Beach Hotel for 10 days in August 2023. It is one of the few mid-range beachfront properties with a pool on Gili Air, and is located on the sunrise side of the island looking towards Lombok. There are numerous restsurants and bars in close proximity. Good snorkelling can be had straight off the beach in front of the hotel. We saw turtles every day. Gili Air is extremely chilled and overall we had a lovely relaxing stay. All of the accommodation is in thatched roof joglo - style Bungalows on either side of the pool. The Bungalows furthest from the beach have no view, and the bungalows backing onto the neighbouring Raja Bar may have some noise issues at night. We only occasionally heard the all from the mosque in the centre of the island, and it was too far away to be any issue. Breakfast each morning was adequate with toast, eggs, fruit and coffee. The onsite restaurant wasn't open for food other than breakfast, but Biba Beach Village hotel next door would do room or poolside service if you wanted. Bicycles and mask/snorkle/fins are available for hire (50k per day) from in front of the hotel. (Bike lights don't work so bring a head torch with you). The manager of Turtle Beach was friendly, attentive and engaging, however most of the staff were young, untrained and had little clue about what they were expected to do. The rooms were large with four poster beads, mosquito nets, AC, room safe and fridge. All rooms had a balcony with a couple of basic chairs. Wifi was pretty useless. The bathroom was set below the room level, with a set of wooden stairs to enter it, which always worried my wife at night as her mobility isn't great. One of the lights in our room was hanging by the wires and only worked intermittently. The shower was cold. The room was serviced daily. The pool was large, and the water clean, although the area around the pool was pretty dusty and grubby and rarely cleaned by the staff. The sun loungers were in various states of repair. I found this lack of simple maintenance a bit frustrating. The beachfront area was also very underutilised, with the furniture needing repair. Overall though, we had a very relaxing stay and the maintenance issues were more frustrating than problematic. Laundry can be done same day just around the corner at Banana Cottages for 25k/kg. The best dinner deals on the sunrise side were at Chillout BBQ. Next door Biba Beach hotel did good espresso coffee.

Durante nuestra estadía en el cottage, ”desaparecieron” $150 dólares de nuestra billetera (habitaciones disponen de cajas de seguridad, pero estas no funcionan), y ni siquiera realizaron servicio de habitación, por tanto solo hicieron ingreso a la habitación para robarnos nuestro dinero. Los baños del hotel solo disponen de agua salada, por lo tanto la ducha y la cepillada de dientes son una tortura. El hotel deja mucho que desear, llegamos un día de tormenta y los baños se llovían por completo (arrendamos 2 cottages), el aire acondicionado de una de las habitaciones no funcionaba y tampoco el lavamanos, por lo que solicitamos cambio de habitación, siendo trasladados a una que tampoco contaba con un aire acondicionado funcional. El desayuno que incluye no es bueno ni mucho menos contundente. Nos sentimos estafados ya que las fotografías daban cuenta de un hotel maravilloso, pero la realidad es completamente diferente. No recomendamos este hotel ni a nuestro peor enemigo.

We are currently staying at this lovely hotel, the staff are brilliant and super friendly, nothing is to much trouble for any of them and any need or questions are quickly seen to and always with a smile. We had problems making our check in dates due to bad weather but the lovely edinga(sorry if spelling is wrong) who runs the place, kept in touch all the way, and made sure our booking was kept. It's been 16 years since we visited gili air and have brought our 14 year old to show him the island, we were given adjoining rooms with shared balcony. The rooms are spotless and the beds are super comfy. The breakfasts delicious and the pool and grounds are very well kept. We as a family love it here with beachfront location and a pool table for the teenager. What's not to like. I would definately recommend staying here too anyone thinking about it. A lovely friendly place to stay.

This was our second visit to Manta Dive at Gili Air, and we are already booked to go again in six months' time. We stayed at their garden bungalow accommodation and dived every day with them. We're both dive instructors with a lot of diving experience, but are also both past retirement age and appreciated the extra care the boat staff and our dive guide Mul took with us. The air-conditioned accommodation is excellent, with bottles of drinking water in the room, to supplement the drinking water that is freely available in the outdoor reception area. The bed is comfortable, though for our liking the pillows are a little too thick and huge. There is a fridge and a safe and a semi-outdoors bathroom, with plentiful hot water and a laundry service is available. Each bungalow has a private outdoor verandah with a drying rack and seating. Bring mosquito spray for the evenings, as there is a plug-in insect repellant, but they are persistent! For early risers, the 6.30am sunrises over Lombok island are spectacular. We observed many try dives and Open Water and Advanced dive courses being taught by the patient, knowledgeable and relaxed but safety-conscious Manta Dive instructors. Rafi, Ayu and Mariana are only mentioned by name because we did not get the names of a couple of others, who were also exhibiting excellent practice. We don't think we have ever seen such careful attention paid to beginner divers in our 25 years+ diving. Nothing was too much trouble, and we are sure this is why divers of all experience come back time and again to Manta Dive. Last time we visited, we dived with an excellent guide named Opik. Unfortunately he was off sick this time, but our young guide Mul was an equally perceptive, attentive and welcome replacement. He worked for two weeks to ensure that every dive was an unforgettable experience. We saw white-tip sharks, turtles, blubberlip snappers, but even more amazing, considering one of us has fairly poor eyesight, were the seahorses, ****y scorpion fish, leaf fish and nudibranchs that he took infinite care and time to show us. Divers are placed in an experience-appropriate small group with a guide/instructor. Breakfast is included in the accommodation price, with muesli, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee, or cooked alternatives. A simple but varied lunch is also available after the two dives in the morning. We are pushed to think of any negatives, except maybe, as everywhere on Gili Air, you could find a lot of smokers in the outdoor areas of the dive centre - you might want to position yourselves upwind!

We stayed here for our duration on Gili Air and the accommodation was one of the best we’ve stayed at on our months trip! The place is a short walk from the port which makes all the difference when you have bags, the staff are very welcoming and informative. The entrance to the accommodation leads you via the enclosed pool area which is amazing, each room has a private door which has a small outdoor area outside your room which is great! The room itself was also great, very clean, great AC, great bed, great bathroom. If we decide to come back there’s no doubt we will be staying here again! Thanks!

Básicamente, hay casas de familia en la isla del aire. ¡Este es realmente bueno, y las habitaciones en el ambiente de primera clase están bastante bien! El jefe, el hermano menor, está muy entusiasmado. Mis hijos y los ancianos se perdieron por la noche, ¡y el hermano menor convocó a todos para que ayudaran a encontrarlo! Desventajas: Hay pocas opciones para el desayuno, ¡y es relativamente simple! ¡El hotel no está cerca del mar!

Esta fue nuestra tercera visita a la “República de Coco” en los últimos años. Situación y bonitos Bungalows justo al mar en el lado este de la isla de Gili Air. Mi hija tiene una dieta de «Gluten free» (debido a la enfermedad de Coelíac) y el personal salió de allí para ayudarnos con nuestras necesidades. ¡Siento que nos quedamos con nuestros amigos indonésicos! Gracias a mis amigos - “Re-Joel” , “E-one” & “Agosto” (pensé que debía escribir los nombres con la pronunciación “Western English” – para ayudar a los futuros Visitantes!!!)
