Few locations capture the beating heart and wonderment of Paris quite as well as Paris’ 16th arrondissement, an area between the Trocadéro and Avenue des Champs-Elysées, where one of the most iconic monuments in the City of Lights lies. The impressive Arc de Triomphe stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, honouring soldiers who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.Much of the 16th arrondissement is considered Old Paris, with charming refurbished historical buildings and quaint bistros, cafes and bakeries, or as it is known to the French, boulangeries. Just a 5-minute stroll down Avenue Kléber, towards the Boissière subway station and Arc de Triomphe, lies the Boulangerie Pâtisserie Coudrier Geffroy known for freshly baked pastries. Start your day here with a warm croissant and a cup of coffee, and enjoy the pastime of long conversation and people watching. From the Charles de Gaulle Étoile, amble down the Avenue de Champs-Élysée for a shopping experience unlike any other. Rows of high-end stores sit among high street labels – a sight to behold, it is no wonder that the Champs-Élysée shopping strip is world-famous.Later, immerse yourself in Paris’s rich culture and history. Take a 5-minute stroll down the Avenue Kléber and find yourself in a picturesque 19th-century cityscape with wide boulevards next to the River Seine. Beyond the Trocadéro subway station lies a plethora of museums and landmarks, including the Théâtre National de Chaillot, Musée de la Marine, Trocadéro Gardens and the Eiffel Tower. After your adventure, return to the La Clef Tour Eiffel Paris to rejuvenate yourself. Hotels in París Reviews

We stayed 2 nights at the Prince de Conti, in room number 2, in the courtyard. All though the room was small, it was very comfortable, and the staff at the hotel couldn't have been better and more helpful, particularly Aude, who whatever question we asked, went way above and beyond to help us. We liked the fact that the toiled was in a separate little room. The location couldn't be better, within short walking distance to most of the major museum attractions and a 5 minute walk to the Seine. They have a sister hotel, around the corner, Prince de Conde, which we are staying at when we return to Paris in late April, and we actually booked into the Prince de Conti by mistake, as our friends were staying at the Prince de Conde. Both hotels have a similar look and feel, and although we would have preferred staying at this hotel again, in April, our booking was non-refundable and was complicated to change.

This hotel has everything you need including the right staff. Jason was AMAZING! He pointed out all of the sights to us on maps and took so much time with us to acclimate ourselves to the area. He never steered us wrong with the right places to eat or how to get somewhere. I had studied in Paris and been here many times but this was the first time for my friend whose son was studying here. In fact, we should have listened to Jason when he told us how to get somewhere as we listened to my friend's son instead with his GPS and Jason was right! There's so much to say it's hard to know where to start First, it's located in a very up and coming neighborhood - very chic, trendy, young. I'm not saying you shouldn't be on your guard but we felt pretty safe in this area. There are cafes, bakeries and restaurants all around - no shortage here and each day we picked different places to eat (we stayed a week) and then went back to our favorites for evening treats. It is about a 7 minute walk to the metro and on the way you will pass some ateliers (or small clothing designer shops), an elementary school (which I loved as I am a kindergarten teacher), gorgeous fruit market, a supermark (3 minutes away), small bars, antique stores, and just Parisian life. By the metro is a traditional newspaper/magazine stand in front of which I had to take a photo because like who sells newspapers anymore? Our stay here was just delightful - even the rooms and hallways smelled delicious with a lemongrass scent. We did not have breakfast here but they always included fresh, yummy croissants or pain au chocolat in a basket at the welcome reception area. The lobby is comfy to sit and wait for a taxi, or plan your day. We did visit the breakfast buffet area and it was clean and beautiful but we did not eat there. At night, the hotel was a wonderful refuge to come back to. Our room was quiet, the bathroom was immaculately clean, and the beds very comfy. Every night we walked around the neighborhood, then picked up our favorite dessert, and ate in on the terrace. We met other travelers there too who were lovely to talk to. This was just a delightful stay. I have been to Paris many times and this would be my choice place to come back to. It is not in the heart of the tourist district but it was quiet and out of the way enough that you get a sense of every day Parisian life. I definitely recommend "Les Deux Giraffes" for your first or repeat visits to Paris. It just had everything you needed when you needed it.

Hotel Lena, until recently Hotel de l'Europe, has been renovated and upgraded. Like most hotels around Gare du Nord, rooms are tiny (3 of us managed to fit into about 9 sq metres), but it's fine for a night or two. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom very clean. It might not be suitable for the elderly or infirm, as we had to climb up a short but steep and narrow winding staircase to our room. (I believe a lift services other rooms on the other side of the hotel.) Location very close to Gare du Nord is hard to beat, but it's a little away from the incessant activity around the station, so quiet (-ish) at night. A final word on the new room designs - it might only be new wallpaper and fittings, but the results are unusual and striking. (Sorry, forgot to take a photo, but the website doesn't exaggerate.) Makes you feel a little bit special. Is an ideal and not expensive hotel for a few days for couples, especially if you are catching a train from Gare du Nord for further adventures.

The wife and I stayed here for a few nights mid September and found it a charming place. The decor is a little dark with dark colours and wood paneling but I think that's what makes it look a little more upmarket than some of the hotels we have stayed in in Paris which have been more 'conference centreish' than a hotel. The bathroom was good and had a bath somewhat bigger than a usual hotel bath. And the bed was very large and comfortable. It was as usual, two singles put together but a concerted effort had been made to make them into a comfortable double. At no time did my wife or I start to disappear down the gap in the middle! We opted to have the breakfast included which is in a cosy breakfast room containing continental and cooked breakfast food. The hotel itself is in a quiet part of Paris so a lot of the shops and businesses around it were closed over the weekend. This makes trying to find a proper French restaurant pretty hard to do in the local area though unless you want a bar or pizza place which abound. The staff were all very friendly. The nearest Metro stop is yards away up the road or walking into the centre of Paris will take at least half an hour. Likewise the same for Monmartre or the Gard du Nord. The local park, Park Monceau which is an amazing place is a 10 minute walk away.
