It was absolutely amazing experience. We came from Japan & came to highland area to escape the city busyness. We are astonished about this hidden gem. As we came in we were welcomed with fantastic passion fruit juice. We came after dark & only requested simple white rice & fried vegetable but the chef and her staff made an amazing dinner with simple vegetable & rice. I realized how food prepared with heart can heal our soul. I was kept thinking if people in the world could eat this kind of food with real soul in it, could heal the whole world!! It is so amazing to be surrounded by beautiful trees &sounds of animals. I will definitely come back again. O

We got very nice experience when staying here 1 night. The room was perfect for our family of 3. We just had to pay for the 3rd person's breakfast. The Logde located nearby the Lion rock and village, easy to find and go to the rock or the Gambulla city within 10min. The host Isuru was very welcoming from the start and made sure that we had all that we needed. ( hot water, drinking water, towels, AC, fan). We also really appreciated Mr Alain, a french gentleman resident in the sameplace! The room also had all the necessary for us to not be bitten by insects (scents and more). There was also a room for the driver at a very resonnable price. However we found the wifi a little weak, but else everything was good. In the surroundings it is peaceful, and we woke up to nice little sound of the nature and a well prepared typical srilankan breakfast and fruits! Delicious!

El hotel tranquilo con jardín de mango. El alimento es diferente, hay delicioso y bastante agudo, más cuidadoso. El spa no puede tomar, el masaje no puede hacer en absoluto. A la noche los monos corrieron sobre el techo, por cierto, allá tornó algo. Los elefantes no vio. Y así todo super

La ubicación del hotel es perfecta, pero muy cerca de todo lo que necesitamos. La villa en sí era insensible, bien mantenida y totalmente equipada con todo lo que nos permitía dormir cómodamente y fácilmente. El dueño fue increíblemente amable, útil y siempre se fue de su camino para asegurarse de que teníamos todo lo que necesitamos. Desde ofrecer grandes sugerencias locales a organizar el transporte para nosotros cuando sea necesario, su apoyo hizo nuestro viaje aún más agradable y sin estrés. Recomendación de Hibiscus Villa para cualquiera que busque una estancia relajada y bien hospedada!

Desde el momento en que llegamos, el personal de recepción dio una cálida y profesional bienvenida, que fijó el tono para una estancia excepcional. El diseño arquitectónico del hotel, una obra maestra de Geoffrey Bawa, es innovador y ambientalmente consciente, combinando el lujo moderno con la belleza del entorno natural. Nuestra habitación cuenta con vistas panorámicas del Reservo Kandalama, lo que nos permite despertarnos hasta las vistas y sonidos tranquilos de la naturaleza. La propiedad cuenta con tres piscinas distintas, incluida una piscina infinita que parece estar combinada con el lago, que ofrece vistas atractivas. El restaurante Kanchana ofrece un amplio bufete con una variedad de platos de Sri Lanka y de la región internacional, al tiempo que ofrece vistas panorámicas del paisaje circundante. A lo largo de nuestra estancia, el personal demostró constantemente la atención y el profesionalismo, garantizando que todos los aspectos de nuestra visita eran cómodos y memorables. The hotel is nice, spacious beautiful room at check in we were treated to a refreshing juice. There is a big pool on the grounds and a big jacuzzi with hot water in the room.  Minuses of the hotel: Far from the attractions. Taxi from the center only go there for the price of pick me x2. Hotel taxi are 3 times more expensive. There are no stores and restaurants near the hotel, so inside the hotel prices for food x3, Also after 6pm it is dangerous to be outside because elephants are walking around. Now let's talk about the premium status and the five races. In 7 years of traveling, this is the first hotel that did not have a bathrobe, slippers and toothbrush and toothpaste in the room. The plumbing in the shower leaks, and the doors creak so much that you could call the spirits at night. Regarding the attention to the customer. I mentioned my upcoming birthday in conversation with the manager, but this fact was not used in any way to show any form of attention from the hotel. This is a huge miscalculation on the part of the staff at a premium hotel. We also had a late departure and our request to delay in the hotel for a couple of hours was refused. This was not due to the arrival of new customers, as the manager offered to extend our stay for a fee. For future customers this fact may be decisive in their choice. In general, the hotel is not bad, but the service and flexibility of the staff, as well as individual approach to customers, does not correspond to the premium level and requires improvement.

Kalundewa Retreat has an amazing concept and a beautiful, secluded location that really stands out. The surroundings are peaceful and unique, making it a lovely place to disconnect. That said, there are visible signs of wear and tear in certain areas, and some aspects of property maintenance could be improved. However, what truly made up for this was the hotel team — their service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was excellent and clearly prepared with care, which added greatly to the overall experience. With better upkeep, this place has the potential to be exceptional.

This is a nice hotel in a great location in terms of seeing the key sights in the area we wanted to visit (walking distance to Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks, and a short tuk tuk ride to a night loris walk). It is on a main road so there is a bit of noise from that if you have a room at the front of the hotel like we did - especially some loud music playing early in the morning. I recommend asking for a room as far away from the road as available. The room was more basic than I expected for the price but importantly it was big and clean. I think you are paying the price for a proper hotel in this location. The hotel pool is big and very clean, it is perfect for a dip to cool down - and very scenic, surrounded by lovely trees. We were a bit disappointed with the hotel restaurant menu which has nearly no vegetarian options on it, and similarly the breakfast buffet wasn’t worth it for us to purchase, but there are lots of other restaurants walking distance from the hotel to go to. The staff were helpful especially in putting us in touch with the loris night tour.

Aunque nuestra estancia fue corta, fue bastante agradable gracias a la amabilidad del personal, especialmente del Sr. Ruchira, que nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos desde el primer momento. El alojamiento estaba limpio y cómodo y la ubicación era excelente. Quedamos impresionados con el cuidado y la atención al detalle, haciendo que la experiencia sea muy positiva. ¡Definitivamente regresaremos!

Este hotel está situado en el bosque, a poca distancia a pie de Sigiriya. Como está en el bosque, esperaba encontrar muchos insectos, pero para mi sorpresa, apenas había ninguno en la habitación y pude alojarme cómodamente. Había reservado dos noches, con la intención de subir a la Roca de Sigiriya por la mañana y relajarme en la piscina por la tarde. Sin embargo, parece que el hotel tiene la política de cortar la electricidad en las habitaciones durante el día. Aunque le pedí a un empleado que volviera a encender la luz y lo hizo, la cortaron de nuevo enseguida. Cuando se corta la luz, la habitación queda completamente a oscuras y ni el wifi ni el aire acondicionado funcionan. Era evidente que, aunque les pidiera que la volvieran a encender, seguiría pasando lo mismo. Sentí que esto solo aumentaría mi estrés, así que decidí cambiar de hotel.
