UUsuario invitadoWe stayed at Royal Canadian Lodge in Banff from March 26–29 with my 7-year-old daughter, and overall we had a great experience. Check-in was simple and straightforward. We arrived in the early evening, and Jason at the front desk was the most approachable and helpful hotel staff member I have ever dealt with. He remembered my daughter’s name, greeted her every day, checked in with us throughout our stay, and added little touches that made the trip feel extra special for both of us. The renovated room itself was fairly standard for a hotel room, but comfortable. Our room had two queen beds, which worked well for us. The bathroom had a shower only, with no bathtub, but that was not an issue. The pillows were big and lumpy, all 8 of the pillows in our room were too high/tall for my daughter to use comfortably. There are robes provided in the room, it would be a nice touch if they could also provide kids size robes. We had a mini fridge, coffee maker with coffee, and kettle with tea provided in the room. We ordered room service one night and tried the pulled pork poutine, which was the daily special from the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was not very good, and I would not recommend it. The TV included free cable and on-demand programming, as well as pay-per-view movies. I had brought my laptop and an HDMI cord, and we were able to connect it to the TV easily to watch our own movies. Watching on-demand, my daughter discovered The Simpsons and loved it (lol) The pool area was a big highlight for us. The pool is salt water rather than chlorine. The water itself was on the cooler side, but there was also a good-sized hot tub and a large steam room. My daughter quickly made friends with another family staying at the hotel, and the kids spent multiple hours a day in the pool together. The gym was small but functional. In the four days we were there, it was empty every time we walked by. Parking is $20 per day, which does add up. There is also free street parking behind the hotel if you are able to find a spot. One fun feature in the lobby was the robot, which the kids absolutely loved. We were told that after construction is complete, it will be delivering items to guest rooms. During our stay it moved around the lobby, told jokes, and handed out free apples. The hotel was reasonably priced compared with other options in the area. I chose it specifically for the pool setup, knowing we would be spending a lot of time there, and it worked out really well for that. Shops and restaurants on the main street were about a 10-minute walk away, or you could take the bus that stops outside the neighboring hotel for $2 per ride, with kids riding free. I would definitely stay here again in the future. The price, location, rooms, and pool make this a very family-friendly hotel option in Banff. Biggest thank you to Jason at the front desk for the spectacular service we enjoyed.

NNatalia@happinessA good hotel considering the price and location. For a 3 star property, it meets the stated standard. Comfortable beds. Spacious lobby. Everything works.

UUsuario anónimoI recently stayed at the Canmore Inn & Suites on Bow Valley Trail. While the property itself has potential and offers a convenient base for exploring the Rockies, my experience was significantly dampened by a factor I wasn't prepared for: a major local hockey tournament. The ”Tournament” Factor I was unaware upon booking that my stay coincided with a Canmore hockey tournament for U11 and U13 divisions. To say these teams ”took over the hotel” would be an understatement. The volume of children was overwhelming. This translated to: The Pool Area: Practically unusable for other guests; it was packed to capacity with kids from morning until night. Common Areas: Hallways and the lobby were very loud and, at times, felt uncontrollable. Lack of Supervision: There was a noticeable lack of adult/parental supervision in the public spaces, leading to a chaotic atmosphere that isn't ideal if you're looking for a relaxing mountain getaway. Staff and Noise Management To the hotel’s credit, the noise did mostly settle down by 10:30 PM. I spoke with the front desk, and they mentioned we could issue formal noise complaints if needed. However, it felt like a losing battle given the sheer volume of groups. The staff are clearly used to this, as these local tournaments bring in consistent bookings for the hotel. While the team was polite, they seemed stretched thin by the high occupancy and the energy of the young athletes. The Room and Amenities Pros: The location is excellent—close to downtown and Highway 1. The rooms are generally spacious, and the mountain views from the upper floors are a highlight. Cons: The property is showing its age. Some fixtures felt dated, and the cleanliness in the high-traffic common areas suffered due to the heavy foot traffic during the tournament. Final Verdict The simpler solution here is a matter of timing. If you aren't in town to participate in or spectate a tournament, check the local sports calendar before booking. If a U11/U13 tournament is on, I would recommend staying elsewhere. If you are here for the hockey, this is clearly the ”hub,” but for the average traveler, the lack of peace and quiet makes it hard to justify the price point during these peak weekends.

UUsuario invitadoThe staff was super friendly and very helpful. I called down for extra bath towels and they were delivered within minutes. The hot tub was out of service during our stay but those things happen and can’t always be controlled by the hotel. The kids absolutely loved the slide and spending time in the pool. Only complaint I’d have there is that the pool towels were super small, we just doubled up and made it work. Not really a big issues. Breakfast was also included in our reservation and it was great. Good variety and included bacon/sausage and eggs. The space for breakfast was nice and open and lots of seating. I would definitely stay here again.

UUsuario invitadoOverall it was a decent stay here. Pros: -Clean room with comfortable beds -Shower had lots of hot water and good water pressure. -nice clean waterpark with helpful and friendly attendant who did not rush us at the end of the night when our young kiddo was dragging his feet to avoid having to leave - heated pools and 2 water slides made the hotel more appealing for us with having our kids along Cons: - the waterpark slides did not have enough of an angle so we couldn’t get down the slides with out having to propel ourselves at times which was odd but also nearly comical -tiny rooms especially for the price. It felt a bit cramped with the limited furniture and the kids on pull out sofa. - the bathroom door provided zero privacy from the rest of the room with no sound barrier, plus it had a “frosted” glass panel as the main part of the door so it was completely see through, and was a tiny bathroom. - no in room microwave so we missed out on being able to heat up leftover takeout from our trip to help us keep costs down and reduce waste unless my husband went hunting for one to use on the main floor, but that was quite a hike when we are on 4th floor so food was cooled right down by the time it made it back to our room. - ordering from the menu at the onsite breakfast restaurant was expensive and the food was quite disappointing. My kids seemed to enjoy the breakfast buffet at least which was free for 5 & under at least.

UUsuario invitadoI'm not the one that leaves bad reviews but I have to do this . This isn't your typical holiday inn you're used to . Far from it . Stains on blinds, not the typical spacious room I'm used to . The heating system made constant dragging noise at intervals all night . We couldn't sleep . Not what I was expecting . Then I called to see if there was an option to get the room upgraded , the lady that picked up was too eager to shut me off . There was no professionalism . Microwave was making creaking noise and the tv wasn't working when I checked in though that was fixed promptly when I called them in . I'll give them a 5/10. I've been to other Holiday Inns in Edmonton, and they are top class with very decent people at the front desk . This is just one old hotel trying to live up to the franchise name. Not close !!!!! Never again!!!
