UUsuario invitadoI want to thank hosts of Akari no yado personally. The hosts were nice and worked really hard to feel ourselves at home. The place was clean and the common room was big and comfortable. Bathroom was old fashioned but if you want modern bathrooms you were able to use the bath house for showers and toilets in the common area. Breakfast is made of pastries and all I had was pretty delicious. You can also have marmalade and margarine with breakfast pastries and there are drinks (tea/coffee/milk/juice) to choose from. We checked out early and hosts prepared our breakfast to go even if it wasn’t breakfast time yet. They even drove us to the station when we asked if they would be able to call us a taxi!
Bath house was spacious with two different baths. System is easy and we were able to use it whenever we wanted (between 16.00-23.00 of course). They are giving free rental yukatas and they were so comfy. They also have guides everywhere to help you (our room even had a guide on how to prepare a futon bed!) the place felt like we were part of a family and that was the most amazing part for me. I even got teary eyed when it was time to go. Thank you Akari no yado! Hope to see you soon again!

HHoSVery old school ryokan run by very friendly who has been working there for many years. Your name will be displayed on the board next to the entrance of the ryokan to show that they were currently welcoming these guests staying at the ryokan! We stayed there for 2 nights with free parking and we didn’t have to drive anywhere until we checked out as the ryokan is within walking distance to the 3 major world heritage listed shrines including The Toshogu Palace.
Avoid room 312 or 313 (which we stayed) which are the smallest rooms. Those rooms in the middle parts are bigger and more comfortable. Do ask for any room facing the back of the ryokan and avoid those facing the front where you only see car parks with coaches coming in the morning bringing tourists to the shrines.
The onsite Onsen for ryokan guests, breakfasts and dinners are the highlights. You’d love the traditional Japanese meals served there and you won’t be hungry.
Would I come back to this ryokan again? Yes definitely due to its location and friendly staff.

JJ. SimonThe hotel is around 10mins walk from Kinugawa-Onsen Station. Although there are many abandoned hotels, shops, residences, buildings around the surrounding area, I can still explore the area as the street lights are lit in the evening.
The hotel is divided into different wings and occupies a large area. I stayed in the upper floors of the hotel’s main building (Kirakukan) but there’s an option to stay at the hotel’s park-cottages that is built on the cliff of the riverbank and overlooks the Kinugawa river.
The Kinugawa Park Cottage is located separately further away from the main building.
I only noticed a local Japanese family of four or five persons being escorted by the hotel staff to one of the cottages.
Other than that one-off encounter, I didn’t see anyone else at the area around the cottage which is also super quiet.
Likewise for the other wings of the hotel i.e. Kinoyakata and Kishintei, I didn’t see any guests maybe due to low season.
Love the onsen and the private open-air bath, the traditional Japanese kaiseiki breakfast and dinner.
There’s also a souvenir shop, ramen & snack shop as well as an outdoor swimming pool which I couldn’t use as it is only available for use come summer time.
Just across the road from the hotel, there’s the Waterside Cafe Terrace, a 7-Eleven convenience store adjacent to the hotel and since there’s no self-service washing machine/dryer in the hotel, the nearest 24h laundromat is around a 5-min walk from the hotel located behind the Waterside Cafe Terrace and across the road facing “Galarie Cafe Painto E”.
On the day of check-out, the hotel helped to store my luggage and I had lunch at “Suzukawa Cafe” just next to Galarie Cafe Painto E. The food prices here are slightly cheaper than the ones near Kinugawa-Onsen station.

TTsusiefirst of I would like to thanks always trip.com for very nice & convinient bookings everytime,we stay new sakura hotel,because the interior of the hotel is mostly sakura theme,the carpet,the gorgeous chandelier, the wall design,etc.or cherry blossom in Japan,& so very affordable prize,we spend only 18,000 yen for 2 adults,with 2 breakfast & 2 dinner.Very near from kinugawa onsen station,only 3 hrs.from Tokyo.We amazed the room,so very big for the two of us,for very cheap prize,can accomodate even 10 person,the buffet breakfast & dinner also is so good but the most I want to share is the drink all you can alcohol beverages for 1 hour,like beer,japanese wine,sours, all kinds of softhdrinks,I enjoyed for self service alcohol drink all you can!the hotspring also is very good but the cons is take care in the outdoor spring because of the concrete stairs,especially for the elderly when slippery,there's
& a little bit far from our room,the young staff also at the counter is nice & most of them are young japanese lady,so very entertaining,so many free amusement like billiard,majong,etc.with a nice sorrounding sightseeng site.& last after check out they give 2000 yen discount coupon for the next visit,Thanks God & trip.com for a nice autumn tour moment in kinugawa onsen Tochigi Perfecture Japan

DDanny IwaIt’s our first time visiting Nikko. The hotel is quite a distance from Nikko station so walking is not an option (take bus 2A/2C) and stop at stop number 11. Then, walk 5mins upslope to the hotel.
The friendly receptionist spoke basic english. There were 2 smoking booths at floor 3&4. The onsen(both indoor and outdoor) was a nice experience. As there were few guest, I had the whole onsen all to myself. There was also 2 private onsens which you can book for 2000yen. Amenities were stocked up and I was impressed! Meals were included in the price, and dinner was an experience.
Everything closes early here in winter. We were allowed check in at 11am, and proceeded to Kanaya Hotel (500yen) and to Toshogu Shrine (1600yen). We walked around the picturesque town with so many beautiful photo spots!
If you’re catching the first train out of Nikko (7:37am), do note there is NO taxi service & breakfast starts at 730am so we had to forfeit breakfast. You have to walk out to the bus stop which comes earliest at 7:02am.
Overall, a good first experience in a ryokan.

La habitación de la habitación era muy agradable, muy agradable y muy agradable. Mi alojamiento en el Hotel City de Europa es muy cómodo. El personal es muy amable y el servicio de autobús es bueno. Si no quiere caminar de la estación, debe ver el tiempo de autobús en la página principal del hotel. Cada día, funciona desde el ”clásico hotel de la estación de sol JR” junto a la estación de sol hasta 9:00／ 9:30／ 10:00／ 15:15／ 16:15／ 17:15／ 18:15.
La habitación es amplia y cómoda, y el cálido aire de la parte trasera es muy bueno. Debió haber un poco de olor en la habitación, pero creo que puede haber un olor de extirpación (como un insecticida). Después de abrir la ventana, desaparecerá.
El desayuno es normal, sin publicidad tan lujosa, pero tal vez porque no es el otoño. En general, creo que es una buena opción para la familia.

El tipo de habitación reservado es sólo fumador, el sabor de humo al llegar a la habitación es muy atractivo, difícil de tolerar. La oferta de comida es muy buena y tiene una sorpresa. La piscina de la calorosa jaula es buena. Este hotel realmente quiere mejorar la calidad de la higiene, la morada es negra y la habitación debe cambiarse a no fumar. Pero el precio es muy alto, especialmente con un descuento Trip.com
