Varna Culture Hotel is located at strategic location closer to Tunjungan Plaza and many local eateries around. But I was given a room at smoking floor although when I booked I already requested for nonsmoking room. We have to inhale lots of 2nd hand smoke which was quite bad for our throat and causing us hard to breathe. The bathroom had given us lots of problems, after we took a shower, we realised the water cannot flow into the drainage hole and stayed floating next to the toilet bowl. The whole floor flooded as the floor design was a problem. When we complained to front desk staff, they already knew the problem but they cannot do anything. They only offered the housekeeper to mop away the water. Which the floor still wet. The water pressure is too low while we on the shower. The shower head positioned wrongly on wall and not flexible which caused the shower water to shoot directly to the opposite wall instead of to our body or face. It wet the whole towel rack and the toilet bowl behind us. Hence, we have to hold the shower head most of the time to ensure we can clean our body thoroughly. Breakfast served was average. The juices were quite plain and no fruit flavour. The overall food served was OK. No minibar in the hotel. We have to buy ice cube 5,000rp for a cup of 4pcs ice cudes.

Okay, but for the amenities they only give below standard, 1 Low Quality toothbrush and 1 Shower cap. No mineral Water Bottle provided, only vending machine on the Lobby.

I stayed at G Suites Hotel in Surabaya recently. Pros: The hotel has a very strategic location, making it convenient to access nearby areas, food spots, and the city center. It’s suitable for both business and short leisure stays. Cons: The room lighting is quite dim, which makes it difficult to see things clearly inside the room. I also had some confusion regarding the bottled water provided in the room. There was a 1-liter bottle that turned out to be chargeable, but the “paid” notice was very small and easy to miss, so I accidentally opened it assuming it was complimentary. This was a bit inconvenient since most hotels usually provide free drinking water. Although they do provide two small mineral water bottles daily, it would be better if there were a water dispenser available in the hallway for guests’ convenience. Overall, it’s a decent stay with a great location, but a few small improvements would make the experience more comfortable and clear for guests.

I chose Lamora Hotel Surabaya mainly because of its very convenient location—just a short walking distance to Pasar Atom. The price was also quite affordable, which made it an attractive option. I booked three rooms. Two of them were perfectly fine, but unfortunately one room had a strong cigarette smell. The staff responded quickly and moved us to another room on a higher floor. I actually liked this new room more because the view was much better. However, another issue came up as there was a leak in the room, so we had to move again. In total, we changed rooms three times. In the final room, there were no towels provided initially, and there was also a problem with the toilet. Despite these inconveniences, I really appreciate the hotel staff—they were very responsive, helpful, and friendly throughout the entire process. Overall, I hope the hotel can improve its room quality and maintenance, as it has great potential thanks to its strategic location and good service.

Tuve una estancia maravillosa en el Ibis Surabaya City Center. El hotel es muy limpio, cómodo y está convenientemente ubicado en el corazón de la ciudad. Lo que realmente hizo que mi estancia fuera memorable fue el excelente servicio del personal; fueron increíblemente amables y atentos durante toda mi visita. Además, el servicio de spa del hotel fue fantástico y muy relajante. Estoy muy impresionada con la hospitalidad y la experiencia en general. Sin duda, recomendaría este hotel a cualquiera que visite Surabaya.

This is actually a VERY COOL hotel. As someone who LOVE vintage things, I really appriciate this place. From their historical front building, their vintage styled room, all took me back to the 90s to early 2000. The NOSTALGIA 🥺. When I was little, my grandpa and grandma used to take me travel and stayed at hotels. So hotels like these have a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, it looked like they really cut down the budget. Although they gave a very cheap price for their room (not more than IDR 250K including breakfast), on WEEKENDS?? But the towels were not white anymore and felt thin (not like other hotel towels), the sheets had tough spots, and no shower cap. But I loveddd the lemongrass soap and shampoo, and they were in dispensers so less plastic waste. The breakfast was really sad. It was nice when I stayed here around a couple of years ago. But this time it was worse. Not too many options and looked empty. Really felt like they didn't put much effort. Well, what do you expect for that price? And I understand they might be in a very tight budget. I noticed they added a ”Mini Zoo” signage. A staff warned me that there were not many animals yet. But I decided to go see it. Turned out it was located in the side of the parking road (but outdoor), there were fishes and a big avian animal (like chicken but different, I don't know what it was). And some parakeets in two separate cages, they were all dead 😭😭 I told a staff and they quickly removed the dead birds. Good idea but poor execution. But anyways, location was top. Just a few meters across the street, there was a bus stop and you can hop on the Suroboyo Bus to go anywhere. And the hotel itself was in a main street of a hot destination (Old Town Surabaya), with historical buildings complex, also with the chinatown nearby. I really hope they can survive this economy storm. I really love this hotel 🥺.
