We checked in late night, witn a car. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Room is as described. Heating was cranked up which we appreciated, but also had windows we could open. Great doorway location to the rest of the lake district. Very happy with our 1 night stay.

I have grave misgivings about hotels in the busiest parts of the Lake District, especially at holiday times. Obviously they will be relentlessly overcrowded, with harassed and unfriendly staff. I’ve wanted to go back to the Proper Lake District for a while though so took a risk on the King’s Head. It’s easy to find on the ear popping main road up from Grasmere, just beyond the impressive hulk of Steel Fell, close to Thirlemere. Parking anywhere in the Lakes is hideous and expensive. Not here. Relaxed and plenty of room. It’s a long building with a pleasant bar restaurant area and beer garden. I found a rather pleasant residents lounge where a lady called Jo checked me in and made me feel welcome. It does get busy with passing trade but the staff look after their residents. They flogged me decent real ale and Jura whisky (the proper stuff). Breakfast is briskly table served from a menu and is well presented. I didn’t eat otherwise there but the food is popular and well priced. The road outside is busy and a bit of a racetrack, and the occasional fighter jet roars between the mountains on low altitude practice, but the relentless bleating of the sheep opposite soon returns things to normal. I was a little sorry to depart, but the manager said he hoped I would come again. I believe I will, and will even bring my wife.

Reservado en el último minuto. Muy bien situado. Lindas habitaciones y desayunos fueron deliciosos. Sólo la crítica fue la presión del agua para las duchas era pobre y no había ciegos/ cortinas de desmantelamiento así que la luz estaba en la habitación muy temprano

A pie puede llegar a la estación de tren y al centro de la ciudad, el cuarto es muy limpio, el desayuno se enviará a la habitación según el tiempo acordado. Hay varias opciones para los huevos, mis huevos de uva y el cebada caliente, muy adecuado para la comida china. También hay autobuses directos a Windermere y Keswich.

I arrived on a stormy night in the lake district - on entering the hotel I was met with a warm glow from the log fire and a very warm welcome from the receptionist. As the hotel dining room was about to close, a room was sorted and the kitchen kept open for an evening meal - a delicious melt in the mouth steak was a pleasure after a 6 hour drive from the south of england, washed down with a welcome glass of Shiraz. The bed was very comfortable, the room had a large bath and separate shower cubicle and copious hot water. The decor and fittings were in sympathy with the age and history of the hotel, a pleasant change from the blandness of more modern mass market hotels. The staff were very friendly and it was a pleasure to be assisted without having to use automated impersonal systems. I will not hesitate to stay at the hotel again when I am next in the area.

La propiedad y el ambiente son hermosos. La vista del jardín del restaurante es muy agradable y hermosa. El tamaño de la habitación, el tamaño del baño y las instalaciones eran buenas. Nos enfrentamos a 1 gran problema para ser preciso, lo que nos hizo un poco doloroso. La habitación era limpia, excepto para el tapice. No se sentía como se había vacío. Probablemente había un animal que estaba en esa habitación antes de nosotros y había mucho pelo en el tapice. Entiendo que es una propiedad amigable para los animales de compañía y no tengo ningún problema con eso. Pero limpiar la habitación debidamente antes de la próxima chequería es una expectativa básica. No podíamos ir al piso sin que nuestros pies se cubrieran con pelo. El hotel está muy bien, pero el desayuno también era bueno y el servicio al cliente también era muy amable y hospitalario.

Great staff providing lots of information regarding amenities. Super central location for Carlisle. Would recommend to any person travelling by rail. Car park wad also straightforward to use although a cost is incurred for parking.

Excelente, tuve una estancia maravillosa, el George es único Mientras que, con un aspecto intemporal, magnífico edificio histórico tiene características modernas, y aspectos, que lo hacen muy cómodo. La mejor experiencia del hotel, he tenido durante años, estoy ansioso por quedarme otra vez, un fin perfecto para mi La pausa de Navidad.

Two single beds spaced together instead of a double bed as advertised. Apart from that everything was expected.
