Location -
Very good. Opposite Niigata Station, exit from Bandai Square. There is a Lawson opposite (Station side), and a 7 eleven next to the hotel. Located right along an entire street of food. Don Quijote is a 7 min walk away.
Room -
Huge, clean, comfortable. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Lighting was a bit rigid and oddly placed, but not a big deal. Housekeeping does a great job.
Front Desk Service -
Queues on weekends are very long. Check in took 15 to 20 mins on a Saturday. Staff did their best to speed up the process by getting guests to fill up the information cards while waiting.
Staff don't interact or smile much. They can't speak English so you need Google Translate. They had 1 foreign staff on duty (who I assume can speak English on, as her colleague after struggling for so long to understand, turned to ask her before she helped). If not, she just stood there quietly, without offering any help of assistance, even though she immediately knew what we were asking for.
Amenities -
They don't provide the standard cotton wool and buds, have to purchase at extra cost.
There is green tea and coffee sachets provided for you to take in the lobby, as well as ear plugs.
Wi-Fi connection -
Strong connection, but a little spotty as connection will drop randomly.
Onsen/Lounge -
Very small, very crowded. While I was there, only 3 or 4 hair dryers, and all were being used by guests who were hogging it for over an hour as they were applying face masks, etc, so most people left with their hair wet. Weekends are definitely a lot more crowded, so avoid weekends if you can.
There's also a lounge area with 3 massage chairs, books, vending machine and big sitting area on the same floor.
Overall -
Great and enjoyable stay. Will stay again if we are in Niigata.
The hotel itself was nice, but the staff at the ski resort was horrible, the rentals are also not well maintained. The boards are not waxed, which makes it difficult to work with as there are a lot of flat routes which are difficult to avoid (Pony and village road were the flattest slope Ive ever seen in my life, I had to unstrap and walk and the board just wouldn't move). Ski resort staff were unfriendly and the rental staff was the worst, there was a lady there that was cold and rude. The only reason why the rental shop is surviving is probably because the equipments are salomon branded and that there is no other option. I would visit again but only because the routes are fun, Myoko long run was the best, but I would never want to rent from the shop again.
The food was very very good. For breakfast, you could choose from western or Japanese buffet. Western buffet is highly recommended, the omelette was the best ive eaten in my life and there was a diy risotto which was great as well. For dinner, there were 4 options, either buffet, steak, Japanese or shabushabu. All requiring reservations which is tough if you are checking in the evening as some might not be available. Highly recommend the steak, the food was good and the staff were amazing. Japanese was the hardest to get a reservation for but the food was quite underwhelming. The room was clean and ski lockers are also provided but it's tiny and can barely fit 2 boards. But I wish that in the toilet in the common area, you can adjust the tap temperature as the water is freezing cold.
Amenities wise, bottled water are provided daily, also, yukata was provided but you can only wear them to the onsen which was extremely troublesome as I had to change multiple times a day.
The hotel provides shuttle bus services to and fro jyoetsumyoko station which was easy to book. The bus drivers were also friendly and helped out with the luggage.
In summary, for a 5 stars hotel, it didn't live up to expectations, ski resort and rental staffs were unwilling to help and unfriendly. Also, some of the staffs could not speak Japanese which is puzzling for a hotel in Japan. If not for the amazing snow and slopes I would never come back.
Great location, within 5mins walking distance from Niigata station. There are nearby convenience stores. The place also seemed to be recently renovated and is well maintained. Staff service was good. affordable breakfast buffet option is also available. The food was very good, the locally sourced rice is excellent.
I recently stayed at Hotel Okura Niigata, and my experience was delightful. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm welcome and attentive staff. The hotel is located in a prime area, with easy access to local attractions, and offers a beautiful view of the Shinano River, which adds a touch of tranquility to the stay.
The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The bed was cozy, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a long day of exploring the city. The amenities were top-notch, and the bathroom was well-equipped with everything I needed. I also appreciated the traditional touches in the room, giving it a refined Japanese atmosphere.
I’m giving my honest opinion. This is my first unsatisfied review for a hotel room. I was very disappointed by the room for the price I paid. I paid more for this room than what I paid for luxury upscaled room near Tokyo Disney. The photos online were very deceiving. When I entered my room, it was gross, i cringed, and my toes curled. I didn’t want to put my belongings down. The carpet was old and disgusting. The pull out couch bed was gross. There were stains on the couch back rest and the mattress. The sheet for the mattress was too small it didn’t cover the stained mattress. The beds were hard and didn’t feel clean. The shower curtain had a bad odor. The room was very dated. Since this hotel is pretty secluded and other hotels were booked we had to make do. I’m glad we only stayed one night. On a better note, the staff were very friendly and service was great. Location for skiing was amazing, and the free shuttle bus was fabulous. Naeba Prince Hotel really need to do better with their rooms. I was looking forward to bringing my entire family of 14 to stay a few nights next year, but after seeing the rooms, I will not stay here again unless they renovate their rooms which are in dire need of upgrades.
The rooms are big and clean. There are facilities for us to wash the clothes at the coin laundry. Coffee are free all day long from a dispensing machine. Overall the rooms are clean and the bed are comfortable. Good stay
El hotel es muy antiguo, el aire acondicionado está controlado centralmente. Sería agradable si la ventilación es mejor. La ubicación es buena, cerca de la estación de Bandai City y Niigata. La vista de Bandai City frente al río es grande.
One of the nicest hotels we stayed in Japan. We had stayed in a traditional japanese room with Futon beds with an amazing view, compared to some hotels stayed in Tokyo, staff here were so kind, patient and helpful. We had come here to Ski which was wonderful as the resort comes with its own ski garden and lift passes which we were given (so generous and kind thank you!), there is also a lovely onsen onsite for hotel guests to use (free). Even though this resort may seem like a walk to the train station there is a timely shuttle bus service to and from with lovely staff there to help. Would recommend and definitely would come again!

UUsuario invitadoWonderful all around. We booked for the location being directly next to the train station, and the cost was very budget friendly. After experiencing how clean and well equipped the room was, this value of this hotel is through the roof. Highly recommend. The breakfast is also delicious.
LLauraJaneLucassVERY large and spacious room (twin room) for Japan! Approximately a 10minute walk to akakura kanko resort and 15 to akakura onsen. The toilets were clean and ample for shared toilets and the showers were warm and good pressure - although the shower hose on the wall wouldn’t sit comfortably so it was a hand held shower.
Breakfast was ok, however if I was paying for it I would have been so disappointed ! Very minimal.
Having read previous reviews I was expecting amazing service however the service received was quite average. We were originally meant to get there at 8:30pm by train, at 8pm I called and told them we will now get there at 10pm. They said ok see you tomorrow morning, breakfast at 7:30. I asked how we were to get to the place and they said taxi (mind you myoko Kogen train station is a ghost town). They then said breakfast at 7:30 see you then. I asked what room were in, how we get in etc and there was a huge language barrier (just kept responding with see you tomorrow) . The person ended up coming to the station (to our surprise) then said they had been waiting there for 2 hours despite us having called at 8pm and spoken to them specifically. A lot of confusion.
They did drop each guest off at the resort of their choice each morning as well as to the train or bus station at the end of their stay, this was a nice touch which is common and needed for myoko.
SSze Yu FungMy wife and I visited this onsen resort in 2023 and we loved it. My wife especially likes the many onsens they have. We have always wanted to come here again and finally did after 3 years. Like three years ago, the room and facilities are very clean and well maintained everything just as they were. One thing did change and we are quite upset about it, is that the staff is not as enthusiastic as they were (there are some familiar faces, many new ones). I still recommend this place to everyone, Futaba is still the best compared to the other two onsen resorts we’ve visited in between. Hope they can figure out some way to motivate the staff and offer a better experience to guests.
IIYALa comodidad limpia es muy adecuada para viajar a la familia y el estacionamiento también es conveniente. En resumen, se recomienda enormemente a los padres. Si el viaje de Xinjiang es automotor, el servicio es bueno!
