"Came here midweek and stayed in a landpod which was nice. I actually hesitated to write this positive review as it just means less availability in future but I'll be a team player and share the love. Arrived late due to a delayed train and the staff helpfully stayed open later to accommodate my check-in which was very much appreciated - also a very cheerful welcome on arrival which made me feel better - thank you. Less helpful was the local taxi firm refusing to take the job when id tried to book earlier in the day (i assume because it was later at night and the journey is short by car and a small fare - but sadly a much longer walk from the station - 20 minute cycle ride or 50 min walk). The facilities were spotless and I opted for the cooked breakfast which says its a buffet on the website but was actually something you had to order from a selection of available items on the menu. Maybe i misread the brief (and wasnt directed otherwise) but i got one item of each which looked a little pitiful (particularly as I held the beans) in the end was not really worth the extra money to be honest. I'd just go for the continental in future. Kitchen, living room and dining areas all spot on. As ever, the hostel stay will be influenced heavily by the interaction and behaviour of fellow guests so thankfully all was good. Fully recommend this as a place to stay in the lakes but beware it is on a hill so if youve not got a car just factor that in."

"I’ve booked Low Wood Bay a few times but this was the first time using trip.com - we got an excellent deal and the customer service was brilliant from both trip.com and Low Wood Bay. There had been heavy snowfall so things were a bit up in the air with whether we would be coming or not due to road closures but the staff were brilliant. Thankfully we did get to come for the night and we’d booked the spa the following day. It is one of the best spas I have been to. The views are stunning. The hotel itself is really lovely, fantastic location, extremely clean and all the staff were super friendly. Will definitely be coming to stay again and can’t recommend enough for a relaxing break."

"We called in as non residents for lunch on the terrace. We ended up going again twice more during our time in the lakes as we were so impressed. The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard and the staff on the terrace were exceptional. The food and drink were to a lovely standard. We booked on a lake cruise on the Albatross and it was wonderful. Definitely a must do if you are there. Rob and Pete on the boat were the most fantastic hosts. Unfortunately a lady had an injury just as we set off and they were so attentive and looked after her wonderfully. I would recommend to anyone looking for that touch of luxury to stay there. We will definitely be back!"

"Although the location of the hotel is not close to the lake, it is between the town of Windermere and Bowness. It is basically a 10-15 minute walk to the lake to take a boat. The World of Peter Rabbit is the closest. The room is large and clean, and the bathroom is the largest among the hotels booked in the seven cities on this trip to the UK. The room is very warmly decorated, the cabinets are very large, and there are many hangers suitable for storing a lot of clothes. The boss's father is from Hong Kong. He chats with us every morning and recommends our travel routes. He is very enthusiastic. The breakfast is also very rich, and the price is very reasonable during the peak summer season."

"Advantages: Good location, a 10-minute walk from the train station, convenient for taking buses to the Lake District. There's a bus stop at the fork in the road, making it even closer to the nearby pier for the return trip. I didn't ask if the owners were a brother and sister, but the man spoke basic Chinese, so communication was no problem. He proactively showed me how to get around the Lake District with a map, which was a plus. When I left, I couldn't get a taxi, and the man helped me get to the train station for £5, which was cheaper than Uber. Disadvantages: The room was very cramped, and the bed was narrow, but that's typical for many hotels and guesthouses in the UK; it's difficult for two people to sleep comfortably. The stairs were narrow; I stayed on the third floor, and the woman helped me carry it upstairs when I arrived. When I left, the man, who was almost on the first floor, helped me carry it down, but it was still quite difficult to carry it myself."

"It was a warm sunny day, and outside the window a group of young lads wrestled with erecting a large 6-person tent. An older couple looked out over lake Windermere from the seats outside their land pod. I could hear the wind whispering through the wild-flower meadow, caressing the beautiful grasses, and seeing youngsters enjoying nature, away from the big city. This quirky "Castle" is replicated anywhere in England or Wales. Its unique "feel". Its immense grounds and diverse eco-focus, means you can experience a million different sights and sounds from any area of the site. Like a moving picture, it becomes part of home as the view is manicured by nature, as the sun sets behind the mountains. A group from across the pond. A couple visiting from the North East of England. Walkers, climbers, pot-holers. Crazy volunteers who return throughout the year. Forget the other places. If you havent either camped on the green patch next the dry-stone walls, kipped in the cabins, lit a fire in a T-Pee stove, or fell out of bed in the luxurious bedrooms - you dont know what you are missing."
