I come to Tokyo several times a year, staying a fortnight or more each time. This time I spent seven nights at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. The room faced Hie Shrine. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows I could see the shrine's copper roof and half of Tokyo's skyline. The décor was modern without excess; the layout flowed easily, Bose speakers hidden in the walls, another set in the bathroom ceiling, connected by a 3.5mm jack. The curtains were motorized, though you hardly needed to close them. The turndown service. I would leave in the evening and return late to find the room changed: only the hallway light and bedside lamp left on, a bottle of water and a glass on the nightstand, two chocolates beside them. The evening tea and teacup, previously stored in the cabinet, had been moved next to the coffee machine. These changes were so slight you had to think back carefully to confirm they had happened at all. The temperature and humidity had been adjusted. As if the room itself remembered your habits. Room service fell short of the ryokan in Hakone or Lake Toya, but well above the ordinary hotel. Each day I made two or three cups of complimentary coffee, played music, read, wrote. In seven days I finished three books. The research ahead began to take shape. There were drawbacks. No washing machine, but a decent laundromat ten minutes' walk away—a chance to wander the streets of Akasaka. The room provided HDMI and ethernet ports but no cables; for those who came to rest, perhaps a mercy. The minibar fridge was mostly occupied by drinks for purchase, same as the Imperial, though there was still room for my sparkling water. The day I left it was half past five and fully dark. I could barely make out the faces of the bellhop and the taxi driver. Together they loaded my luggage into the boot. I wished the bellhop a happy new year in Japanese and told her I liked her hat. She smiled and returned the greeting. As the taxi pulled out of the underground drive, I thought of the inns Kawabata once wrote about: what had to be sought in the mountains of snow country can now be reached by elevator from the B2 exit of a metro station. I have watched the Shinagawa Prince Hotel loosen quietly over time, slip a little. That kind of decline is rarely one great error. It begins the day someone forgets to leave a glass of water, neglects to move a packet of tea, omits a newspaper. As for The Capitol Hotel Tokyu: in Japanese, what I experienced over these seven days is called ちょうどいい.

Andaz Tokio muestra a la perfección la armonía entre tradición y modernidad. Las mamparas de caja y espiga del vestíbulo se entrelazan con luces y sombras LED, y las lámparas de papel japonesas se asemejan a islas flotantes en el espacio de techos altos. Our family stay at Janu Tokyo was outstanding and thoughtfully designed for traveling with children while maintaining a high level of luxury. The service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely family-friendly. The staff were especially accommodating to our children, helping us feel comfortable and well cared for without ever feeling intrusive. Requests were handled promptly, and the overall hospitality felt polished yet relaxed. The facilities are world-class and particularly well suited for families. The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, and practical, offering enough room for both adults and children to unwind comfortably. Shared spaces, wellness areas, and amenities were impeccably maintained and easy to enjoy as a family. Dining was another highlight. The food quality was excellent, with options that worked well for both adults and children. The atmosphere across restaurants felt refined but welcoming, making family meals enjoyable rather than stressful. The location in Azabudai Hills is a major advantage for families—clean, modern, and less chaotic than some central Tokyo districts, while still being very convenient. Everything felt safe, accessible, and thoughtfully planned. Overall, Janu Tokyo delivers a rare combination of ultra-luxury and genuine family friendliness. It is an excellent choice for families seeking a sophisticated yet comfortable stay in Tokyo, and we would absolutely return.

Our favourite hotel in the Tokyo Area. Stayed here numerous times over the years. Very conveniently located right on top of Tokyo Station, makes it easy to travel anywhere. Breakfast has a good selection of both Japanese & Western cuisine, and served up in the pleasant Atrium. Service is good as usual, from reception to housekeeping to restaurant staff.

It was our first time staying at Hotel Villa Fontaine Premier Haneda Airport, as we usually stayed at the adjacent Villa Fontaine Hotel. The Premier property definitely feels more upscale and refined. Check-in was smooth and pleasant. Unlike the sister hotel next door, the front desk here is staffed with courteous and attentive personnel. Since we arrived before the official check-in time, we left our luggage with the staff and went shopping. Upon returning, our suitcases—and another one delivered by Yamato Transport—had already been brought up to our room, which was a very nice touch. We stayed in a Deluxe King River View room. It was spacious, with a large and comfortable bed, a generous washroom featuring a deep bathtub, and a long sofa by the window that was perfect for relaxing or having a quick meal. The air conditioning was quiet and efficient, and the overall room design felt modern yet cozy. The wardrobe wasn’t particularly large but sufficient for coats and travel clothes. We didn’t try the breakfast as we had an early flight at 7 AM, but the convenience store downstairs made it easy to pick up yogurt, fruits, and light snacks. Another charming feature was the aroma pouch-making station in the lobby, where guests can choose from several fragrances — it’s a small but thoughtful detail and a lovely souvenir idea. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel’s location couldn’t be more convenient, especially for travellers catching early flights — it took only about 10 minutes to reach our airline’s check-in counter after checking out. The hotel also provides easy access to Tokyo’s major shopping areas like Shibuya and Tokyo Station. We’ll certainly be back on our next visit to Haneda!

Their service attitude good, though they may need more housekeeping staff, as service is a bit slow. The reason their service attitude is good because my bottle of water came 20-30 mins late and their housekeeping supervisor came to apologize. Rest of the staff are all very polite and have good attitude. Overall good value for money.

Las habitaciones son bastante pequeñas, con un diseño similar al de los hoteles económicos de China. El baño está separado de la habitación por una mampara de cristal. Las instalaciones del hotel son limitadas. No hay piscina ni gimnasio; hay que pagar para usar los que están fuera. Hay un salón común en cada planta donde se puede conseguir agua, pero la selección es limitada y los aperitivos son poco apetitosos. Hay ventanas, pero son prácticamente imposibles de abrir porque dan a los edificios de oficinas de fuera. En general, no vale la pena el precio. Ventajas: El servicio fue bueno; hay que cambiarse de zapatos antes de entrar al hotel, lo cual fue interesante y le dio un toque de estilo tradicional japonés.

El hotel está situado a unos 20 minutos a pie de JR Shinjuku. El vestíbulo del hotel es precioso y el personal de servicio es educado, proactivo y atento. La configuración del hotel es relativamente antigua. El espacio de la habitación es bastante amplio. Una familia numerosa puede disponer de una cama de 2 metros de ancho. Todos los baños están disponibles. La ventana da al parque Shinjuku, que parece muy agradable.

Mi estadía en Hilton fue genial. En general, le daría un 3/5. A pesar de lo increíble que fue el personal, me decepcionó un poco que cobraran cargos adicionales por servicios y comodidades. Para usar la piscina había un cargo adicional por cada vez. Afortunadamente, ya era miembro de Hilton Honours, pero si no lo fuera, también tendría que pagar por el wifi. Solo con los 2 puntos anteriores, es un poco aburrido en el sentido de que son servicios bastante estándar. Incluso las estaciones de tren ofrecen wifi gratis, por lo que debería estar incluido en el cargo. Y en cuanto al spa, es comprensible que haya un cargo, pero ¿y la piscina? Es un fastidio. De todos modos, esos son los únicos aspectos negativos. En cuanto a los aspectos positivos, la ubicación es ¡LA MEJOR! Si quieres ir a cualquier parte, la estación cercana puede llevarte a las estaciones principales en minutos. Odaiba en sí también es bastante bueno, con 2 grandes centros comerciales, muchos lugares fotogénicos y la estatua de Gundam a 5 minutos a pie del hotel. El personal también es excepcionalmente amable y cortés. Hay muchos restaurantes dentro del hotel que ofrecen comida de calidad. La habitación también era bastante grande y había solicitado dos camas individuales y me las dieron. En general, para un hotel de 5 estrellas, la habitación podría haber sido un poco más elegante, pero aún así fue suficiente. ¡Recomendaría la estancia sin dudarlo!

Lo uso para hacer fila en una tienda de bolas de arroz cercana por la mañana. (Finales de marzo) Fue mi primera vez usando un hotel cápsula, pero la habitación privada era más grande de lo que esperaba. (La habitación tenía aproximadamente el ancho de dos personas cuando me acosté, y había suficiente espacio vertical para no golpearme la cabeza incluso estando sentado, así que estaba bien incluso para alguien como yo, que es un poco claustrofóbico). Me registré después de las 11 p. m. Quizás porque era tarde en la noche, los cuartos de ducha (¿3 o 4 en total?) y los tocadores (8 asientos en total, dos de los cuales tenían secadores de pelo rotos y solo ventilados) estaban vacíos, por lo que no hubo problemas particulares. Creo que también había comodidades. Sin embargo, la zona de mujeres estaba más caliente que la de hombres. Como estaba en la litera de arriba hacía aún más calor y siempre tenía las cortinas medio abiertas, pero aun así estaba sudando cuando me despertaba. Me di una ducha rápida y me preparé a las 8 a. m. y pude usar las instalaciones sin que estuvieran abarrotadas por la mañana. ¡Creo que las cápsulas siguen siendo una buena opción si solo quieres jugar hasta tarde en la noche y luego dormir!
