It's a great hotel with a perfect location

Great central location, a once grand hotel now slightly faded. We arrived by car and we were glad we could park by the hotel (the hotel has a few parking spaces for guests in the square next to the hotel). We visited as a family of four and booked a room for the four of us described as a deluxe family suite. It was effectively two standard double rooms which adjoined; one had a bathroom off the bedroom and the other had the entrance and a toilet. The beds were fine. The furniture was ok. There was an air conditioning unit in one of the rooms, and it was quite noisy and not very effective, so that was ok but could have been better. The bathroom had a small bath with a shower attachment, so no option to stand and shower. The water that ran from the bath taps was a slightly yellow colour. The room key was an old fashioned plastic card which you inserted into the door - we were careful with where we put the key, but every day one key would stop working and we would have to go the desk to ask for a new one. The corridors were quite dark, with a faded carpet monogrammed for the hotel throughout. The hotel reception area was nice and had some seating that guests could use there. The pool and spa in the basement was accessible only by stairs: we went down in our swimming costumes and we were glad we did. We enjoyed using the pool and facilities but did not stay very long. The pool is small; it was built to have jacuzzi and hydrotherapy areas, but these did not seem to work, and if they had they would have dominated the pool. There were some lounger beds next to the pool and also a sauna and steam room. The gym was in a different area of the hotel altogether: down some stairs near reception: the gym was poor - one exercise bike that did not seem to have any tension; one running machine that abruptly stopped working altogether after ten minutes of use; and some weights. Breakfast was available in 3 slots: from 0730, from 0830 or from 0930. The selection of food was good, including some very nice pastries and some nice fruit. There were steps to enter the breakfast room, so perhaps not ideal for everyone. We also ate a meal in the restaurant at the front of the hotel - we were served by someone who seemed very subdued, not happy, but the food was very good. On the pedestrian street outside, there are lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and so many ice cream stalls. It is just a few steps to the main square and the Brukenthal Museum. I felt like this hotel could have been great with perhaps a little investment and some adjustments here and there. However, you can’t beat the location and it worked for us.

The hotel is ideally located on a very central pedestrian street near Piata Mare (Grand Place) with its Bruckental Museum. The building is quite old with rooms conceived in 19th century. For this reasons some modernization was made with limitations aimed to protect old buildings. Air conditioning is made with room units, noisy and inconveniently placed near bed. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant looks nice. Receptionist are doing their job with care and professionalism. The hotel has reserved parking places in a parking lot in the vicinity. Unfortunately some features denote amateurism and can be easily brought to normal for a claimed 4 star hotel . My junior suite was in fact made by joining two standard rooms. This has the advantage of 2 bathrooms. But in the so called living room a bed for an additional person is placed. You can watch TV only laying in bed!!! O sofa is in the room, but placed on the same wall as TV set. Its presence, as well of a chair, is superfluous and it is done to comply to level of the hotel requirements. The tube in the bathroom is equipped with a plastic curtain that sticks on your body when going to shower, due to some hydrodynamics laws. A plastic divider is the solution you meet in many good hotels. The garbage bins in the rooms and bathroom have no covers. Cheap pedal bins are largely available throughout the world, including Sibiu. I would recommend that the hotel manager stays in one of the rooms for several days to feel what a passengers feels.

The hotel was renovated for the cultural capital year in 2007 and wear and tear is starting to show again. But it is a good place to stay and the staff is friendly. The bubble bath works great, but needs some planning ahead, as it takes a long time to fill.

We stayed at this hotel in February for Valentine's Day and did not regret our choice for a minute. The hotel is very comfortable and really cares about its customers. I'm surprised that this site gave the hotel such a low rating. I would give it 10/10 for everything. We checked into the hotel very quickly. Our room was on the second floor. We rode the elevator a couple of meters once and later we only used wonderful stairs with portrets on the wall. The room had 2 toilets. The cleanliness is perfect. Silence. We were especially pleased with all the hotel amenities in the room, from shampoos to bed linen, bathrobes and slippers, which were of high quality. No cheap synthetics. I like it when you pay money and you can see what you paid for. The interior is very beautiful and unusual. The hotel is cozy. Lots of places to relax and take beautiful photos. Breakfast in the restaurant had a lot of choice and all the food was very tasty. In the evening we visited the spa complex with a swimming pool and sauna, which was also included in the room payment. The water in the pool was warm and clean, just like a bath. I saw that some people wrote that the hotel’s interior Baroque style is outdated. I completely disagree. This hotel definitely has its own zest and charm and it brightly complements the impressions of the city itself with its unique centuries-old history. It's sad when hotels in different countries are similar to each other, differing only in the color of the vases or walls. Over time, they are simply erased from memory. In this case, I have vivid memories of the city of Sibiu thanks to this hotel. The hotel is located in an old beautiful building on the central pedestrian street. It was very convenient to explore the city, making circles along the ancient streets, past small taverns and shops and then, tired, returning to the oasis of comfort and coziness right in the center of the tourist area. I especially want to note the high-quality work of the staff. All the employees with whom we had the opportunity to communicate were very friendly and helped us sincerely. We were received as their guests. I recommend this hotel for romantic couples.

The Hotel is situated on the pedestrian street in Sibiu full of restaurants and shops—very central , 30 m from The Big Square . We had a superior room , very spacious . The Hotel is pleasantly decorated . The breakfast needs some improvements (bread freshness and food diversity ) .Personel very attentive and courteous , especially Miss Raluca . The hotel is very well located, right in the center of the pedestrian area, and its clean and renovated appearance gives you the confidence to stay here. The parking is right behind the hotel and is guarded, another good thing. Everything is fine until you get to the room, where you have many unpleasant surprises: outdated appearance, chipped sanitary ware, yellowed by the deposited stone, doors that do not close, bad smell in the bathroom and the most disturbing - the air conditioning. It is placed on the floor and when you turn it on it makes a terrible noise. Impossible to sleep at night with it on, and the open window is useless on hot nights. I don't have much to say about the food except that I had only one breakfast, which was correct. Although I liked the appearance and style of this hotel, I will not return here, especially in the summer.
