Whitechapel Grand

Stay for 5 days, outside too noises and not environmental friendly. Space too small for 3 ppl. Not convenient to get public transport if flight early in the morning.

With a name like the grand i was expecting something nice. What we actually got overall was awful. We booked this because it was supposedly able to sleep 5 - we got 2 double beds and a sofa (not a sofa bed!) that was so lumpy the springs were sticking in me. I had to sleep on the floor (which was dirty carpet tiles) to actually get any sleep. The heating didn’t work and the heater in there, I plugged in and it made a pop and smoke came out of it so I switched it immediately off. There was no loo roll (i would have brought my own if if known they weren’t going to supply any) and the microwave in there was rusty and I couldn’t even warm anything up in it. The front door had been recently smashed by something and there was a lady who I can only assume was on crack outside the chicken shop next door. The window didn’t close either meaning it was cold and the sound coming in meant we couldn’t even sleep if we wanted to. Really felt like I need a wash after staying there. Oh and the stairs were really steep for anyone with heavy luggage. Plus previous tenants? Mail all I’ve the floor with not attempt to pick it up.

Dirty property, ignored calls, housekeeping was not done and instead was done whilst me and my other guests were at the property. Was not met by any type of host and had to wait outside for more than an hour for one of the housekeepers to come let me in. Kettle had some sort of mould inside, beds messed up as no one had cleaned up after the previous stay. Made constant phone calls again which were ignored because the property did not provide this so I had to contact ******* to obtain it. If you want to be ignored and wait more than 2 hours to be let inside your property then book this property. Never again, worst possible experience for a customer booking an apar**ent.

I usually read reviews before travelling but in my haste to book somewhere fast I didn't read them, oh how I should have! This place is grim used satnav to try and find it and all we could see was a bank and a fried chicken shop turns out there was a door in-between that is the 'hotel' managed to find a number to get more information and was told that she would meet us outside in 10/15 minutes. The lady was friendly enough and showed us to our room. The corridor leading up to it was very shabby. There was 4 adults and a child staying, the sofa bed wasn't made up and nether could we find any bedding for that so we slept in the double bed with the child. The windows are terrible and not fitted properly at all it sounds as though the window is open which obviously being on the main road and next to the hospital was very troublesome to get to sleep and stay asleep. The bathroom has peeling paint and just felt very dingy. The sofa bed had rips in. We were given only 3 towels and half a quarter of a toilet roll. Obviously we weren't expecting the Ritz and our expectations weren't overly high but this place is shockingly awful.

On arrival was shown around the apar**ent and given key fob. Pleasent and friendly staff as shown to apar**ent, In the room we had there was two double beds, which very comfortable and a good nights sleep was had by both of us. The duvet was perfect and not cold at all in the room. In our room was a fridge, microwave, kettle (with free tea and coffee), hob,wardrobe, iron with ironing board, fans and heaters too. There was also a flat screen TV. The bathroom was small, but just what needed. Good shower with good water pressure and heat. There is a boiler and central heating in the apar**ent, worked absolutely fine. The location is great, with great transport links from Whitechapel station on underground lines District, Hammersmith and City, Also Elizabeth line and London Overground. Less than five minute walk from the apar**ent. There is also bus stop just a few metres from the apar**ent, A lot has been mentioned about the noise. This is a busy area of London in Zone 2, So noise is to be expected. It was not intrusive and did not cause any problems at all during our stay. For the price and location, would not hesitate to stay here again.

The guy is a very good person respectable and good at communicating. Property is very nice and clean. He’s very nice.

Stayed in this apar**ent only 1 night, thankfully!! Apar**ent says it is for 5 people but really only a max of 2 adults maybe. We stayed at the start of December, when we arrived the window was open, place was frozen and after 1 hour the heating stopped. The duvet on the bed was super thin, asked for extra blankets and they told us the cleaning staff was already gone so no blankets available...We had to sleep with our clothes and jackets on to stay warm!! Behind the bed we found packets of cigarettes, dirt and dust..the basin in the bathroom was tilted so much we thought it was going to fall. No warm water in the morning due to no heating working in December!! Location is close to the tube but area can be noisy at times as the hospital and all the ambulances are right behind the place. Only good thing was the staff, they were very nice and let us keep our bags at the nearby hotel. This was the only place we found at short notice and for this time of the year, but avoid at all costs
