Château de Bournel

Considering the beautiful surroundings, the buildings, the grounds, the restaurant is far far from being anywhere near the same level. The menu choice is incredibly poor and the cooking of each dish is frankly more cafe bistro than chateau level food. My fish mouse tasted only of cheese, was stone cold in the middle and hot on the outside and the consistency was that of undercooked eggs. The vegetables were not well prepared, stringy beans and the mushrooms were just inedible. As for the entree, we’ll for €5 and a trip to Super U I could prepare the same. Totally overpriced for the amateur level of cooking to be blunt. Such a shame but seems to be a consistent comment from other reviews.

...why this seems to be such a popular destination for golf travellers. My guess: it's the wonderful Chateau set in a vast park with old trees. But when it comes to golf this might be one of the biggest disappoin**ents I have ever experienced - and I feel a bit qualified to judge after having played close to 400 courses around the globe. The entire course has been in rather bad shape with rock hard fairways, unraked bunkers, uneven and unkept teeing grounds. Whether this is due to lack of staff (I have not seen one greenkeeper all day) and/or lack of funds I don't know and the conditions might change to the better. The REAL problem however is that the terrain is simply not suitable for even a mediocre course. As my friend Tom D. (well-known designer) once told me, the most important issues for a good course are: 'location, location, location!' Truth to be told: The terrain at Bournel does not provide either of these three characteristics. The hanging fairways on at least half a dozen holes are sending your even well struck ball in all sorts of unwanted/unfriendly lies - not what leisure golfers are really looking for. Even some beautiful views and great green locations can not make up for the bad layout. Value 4 money (golf only!) 2/5.

Very nice hotel uniquely situated near the golf course. Large room and bathroom. Bathroom a bit old but room and bed were great. Restaurant was average but well priced. The service was good. Don’t forget to check your bill well before leaving.

Nice hotel and restaurant. Golf okay but not wonderfull. Small rough done to loose your ball … Quiet place. Restaurant was nice. Bathroom a bit old with no shower but a bath. We will certainly come back for a golf trip with friends. Hope golf + hotel packages will exist at this time

Chambres vieillottes, ampoules de la salle de bain qui ne fonctionnent pas, plusieurs prises électriques non plus. Cerise sur le gâteau… au moment de payer la réservation (prépayée sur Booking) l’accueil nous explique qu’il faut compter un supplément de 25€ car ils ne travaillent plus avec Booking et que les prix ont changé. (Ils n’ont soit disant pas pu en informer les clients (nous) avant) Petit déjeuner en buffet très léger pour 20€ par personne. Évidemment rien à redire sur le cadre, magnifique !

Séduits par le site internet, nous venons de passer huit jours à l’hôtel du Chateau de Bournel. Ce site s’est avéré bien trompeur. Si le cadre extérieur est somptueux, les prestations hôtelières sont très loin d’être au même niveau même si le personnel présent fait tout ce qu’il peut pour pallier les déficiences de la Direction qui semble ne pas connaître les règles prioritaires de l’hôtellerie. (Chambre pas faite une journée sans avertissement de la Direction, cuisinier absent par deux fois et remplaçant désastreux, wifi quasi inexistant, entretien général laissant à désirer). 2 heures pour avoir les 3 plats du menu a 48 euros qui etait simplement simple sans compter les vins et le cafe qui amene le tout a 127. C est un pur scandale. Evitez cet endroit. Je suis decu. Le temps d ecrire ce mesage j attend encore le dessert.

Bonjour,suite à notre réservation pour ce dimanche midi 9 juillet,nous voilà dans ce cadre magnifique du château de Bournel. On nous dis qu'il n'y a pas de menu ce midi uniquement le buffet,ok pas de problème,mais franchement soyons honnête auriez vous mis 28 € dans ce Buffet si c'est comme cela que l'on peut l'appeler. ( Quatre entrée, deux plats et quelques dessert même pas de fromage et de condiment) service inexistant.vraiment déçu.
