My wife and I had lunch here today. I must say, we were pleasantly surprised with the service and food was great. We recommend this pub to anyone. The young guy in charge in the restaurant is an asset to the pub. The food was great and the service was excellent. We will be back next time we are in the area.

Excellent service by the wait-staff on both nights that we dined here. Great pub food with a wide selection and a good wine list at reasonable prices. Plus a great view if you are near the window or outside.

First time I’ve ever walked out of a pub/restaurant before my meal arrived. They want to do table service yet all they did was ignore me unless I magically got their attention. Sitting at my table with an empty glass for 20 minutes without any offer of a new drink. I finally get the girls attention, she takes my drink order then completely forgets it and continues cleaning tables and serving other customers. At this stage my meal still hadn’t arrived after 45 minutes. Embarrassing and insulting. Don’t do table service if you’re incapable of it!

The food was good, but the service was not. We all ordered off the specials board at $19.90. When we got the bill my schnitzel (and others) were charged at $24.90, plus $5 for the sauce, none of this was written on the board. So we paid 29.90 for a special advertised at $19.90. Instead of commiserating, The young pony-tailed guy in charge showed no empathy, said words to the effect "That's the price, and everybody charges for sauce." The specials board had been removed while we ate so it was hard to argue and in any case he had charged our card as he spoke. Needless to say we will NOT be returning, and will give our business to the Railway Hotel in future.

We had lunch here on a beautiful Spring day, so we sat outside on the balcony, enjoying the view. The guy who served us was super friendly. The food was excellent. Good portion sizes. It has a great a**osphere and an ideal location—a clean and tidy hotel.

We were just passing through on our way to the Bend and decided to pop in for lunch . Dining room has a great view of the River. Service was really good . Food was good and big servings and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a place to eat in Tailem Bend.

Great food at this pub. Generous portions and not expensive for the quality served. Friendly service. The Rib Steak was just perfect. My wife and I ate here 4 times while staying at the Bend race track and it was great every time.

Visiting from Melbourne. Didn't try the accomodation but have had several meals in their restaurant. Wow, I had the best Eye fillet steak I have ever had. and two nights running. Cooked to my liking, which is tricky. Medium rare and jucicy on the inside and slightly crusty/salty on the outside. Absolutely perfection. I have had many steaks and paid two to three times more in Melbourne but nothing came close to these steaks. All the other food is good too, hot food and plenty of vegetables that were cooked to perfection. I've never felt the need to compliment the chef and we eat out a lot but I did twice. Strange that I've gone to some very expensive restaurants and none of them produced a steak like these.

Terrible food. Too much garlic. Why is lots of garlic in everything? Why are the chips salted by the chef/cook? I’m an adult I can be trusted to salt my own chips. If it’s so necessary to salt chips why not the rest of the meal? Chips were weird nothing in the middle but air. Special chicken Kiev (full of garlic butter) with garlic sauce! Everyone leaves here reeking of garlic. Never going again.
