Makali Temple Village

Wonderful stay. So quiet. Stayed 2 couples in a 2 bedroom villa. We came here and just wanted to relax and take a break from our busy lives. Gorg, was the perfect setting. The villa is beautiful and modern. The bed is sooo amazing, we all slept extremely well. Most of the time we spend in the villa or by the long pool. Went out for breakfast and dinner nearby. We would love to come back again.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Makali. It took us a while to feel “at home” in the villa for a couple of reasons; however, once we got used to these things and felt comfortable after the first 48 hours. Pros: 1. Great pool (although we were told it was freshwater but it stung our eyes so not sure that’s true) 2. Great large rooms and comfy beds 3. Fantastic couch 4. Great massage service at reasonable pric Cons: 1. The showers have large windows with plants outside however there are gaps which means anyone standing outside the villa can see into the shower / the neighbouring villas shower can see into ours. 2. The reason I stayed at the villa was to cook for my toddler. The hot plates took forced to boil water and there was no cookware which was appropriate to cook anything except one or two eggs. The sink leaks when filled with water. Limited number of bowls and plates etc. 3. The fridge does not cool beyond 13 degrees for most of the day (food safety is 0-5 degrees) so I had to put my daughters food in the reception fridge and felt embarrassed everytime I had to ask for an item from it as there was always random people hanging around who I weren’t sure if they were staff. 4. People can walk beside our villa and see into the pool. This made me uncomfortable as men would pass by the walkway to attend religious ceremonies in the jungle near us (quite loud at times). 5. The villa is in a random street with poor sign posting and taxis find it hard to get the right driveway.

We had experienced a stay like no other at Makali Temple Village. We stay in Sunset Bungalow for 4 days 3 nights. A families with 3 adults and two kids (aged 3 and 5). 1. The best part is the swimming pool with freshwater which was cleaned daily. However, there's rough edges along the swimming pool 2. Very comfortable bed and plenty of power points to charge your electronics items. 3. Excellent customer service teams supporting the bungalow operations. Major feedbacks for development: 1. No handrail on the staircase to bedroom and no fully covered corridor. Very dangerous for kids. No ceiling light at level 2 corridor door. We walk in darkness. Super weird design. 2. Ceiling fans are not producing enough wind at the highest setting. 3. No shower head and diluted shower gel. 4. ALL the rooms doors is hard to opened and closed due to the poor workmanship of the carpenter. Main bungalow door with digital lock can't even locks and opened properly. 5. No TV in living room and bedrooms. You will definitely enjoy your stay like no other (if all are fixed) :-)

Loved our stay. Webooked a 2-bedroom villa with a sacred tree view for 8 nights and extended for 3 nights in a 1-bedroom villa. It was that good. Clean beautiful design and the villa bathroom is divine. Close to cafes and dinner places - we walked mostly. The staff gifted us pastries and cold press juices when we left for the airport:) Friendly team - we used whats app for recs and requests. They made up the villa whenever we needed, which was nice so we didn't feel pressured for a specific time. Towels and bedding are organic and feel great. We'll for sure book again.

We loved our stay here. We stayed in the 3-bedroom Residence Villa. It's on a corner with the river on two sides, so you feel private and truly on holiday. The design is coastal modern, with a luxurious touch of marble and wood. You can close the living area or open it to the pool which was very comfortable during the heat of the day. The B&O speaker was a nice touch. The staff are fantastic - best in Bali of villas we have stayed in. Responsive and happy to help with any requests. Nothing was too much to ask. They provided a cocktail mixologist on one day and created a menu for the drinks which was amazing - low/no sugar with local ingredients. Fresh and delicious. REally great. The freshwater pool was new to experience. We stayed in all day without itchy skin or eyes. The shower water is filtered, and felt luxurious with bespoke all-natural amenities. Cafes and restaurants are within 5 minutes walking distance. We stayed in most of the time and ordered food recommended by the staff. They have complimentary healthy tonics at the kitchen fridge at the front - turmeric, ACV, ginger, which was a nice touch. Also have coconuts which we ordered daily. Everyone agreed that they had the best sleep on the Coco-mat mattresses. Felt refreshed in the morning. The bedside lavender relaxing mist was lovely. We'll definitely stay here again. It was relaxing and felt like home.

Wonderful stay in a 2-bedroom vila. Staff were great and accommodating. Excellent lymphatic massage that we had in the room.Nice touches with organic sheets and towels. Location was very good. Easy walking to cafes and beach.

Wonderful stay. Quiet and amazing design, staff are so lovely. Travelled frequently to Bali for 10 years and this is our 2nd time here now. It's so different to all other villas in Bali and Canggu. The nature, quite, sleep... just wonderful.

I have to rave about this boutique hotel in Bali - it was absolutely amazing! The fresh water pool was like a little slice of heaven, super relaxing and refreshing. Super friendly staff and very helpful - they made us feel like VIPs. Perfect location, walking distance to nice restaurants (and a cute gelato place around the corner). The nearest beach, Pererenan, has a stunning sunset. The whole place was so bright and stylish. Clean and modern with a touch of Bali's charm (it’s next to a temple) - we loved it! Looking forward to staying at Makali again the next time we are in Bali.

WARNING SCAM! Beware of lies and unethical business behaviour. I travel a lot and this goes down as hands down the worst booking ever. This place is still a construction site and the owner outright lies and tries to obfuscate it online and through direct contact. They apply a 14 day before arrival cancellation policy. Well in advance of that I contacted the owner through their webpage and asked about the state of construction as well as noise in the Villas. The owner responded: “No construction can be seen or heard from inside the villas.” It is impossible to stay in the Villa because of the noise, let alone work. I also informed that I intend to work in the Villa and that wifi was very important the owner responded: “yes, we have high speed internet: 100 Mbps. We take internet speed seriously :)” There was no proper WiFi equipment in the villa, the staff had instead put a cheap TP-link router downstairs, which presumably they thought would give WiFi to the villa. We measured 0.02mbit/s. After a few attempts the staff blamed the provider. There was no other places around having issues. Furthermore I asked if it would be possible to do an upgrade to an enclosed Villa if it was available upon check-in. “We are happy to accommodate an upgrade pending availability when you check in. “ Upon check-in the owner had informed the staff that the upgrade would be an additional 1 400 000 per night. 8 days before I go there to check it out and immediately try to cancel the booking. Which they will not let you. I again try to get a refund as we move out on the first day. I also ask the staff to kindly get the owner on the phone or in person so I can speak to them, they say they can't reach them. They also stopped responding to emails. The place is a total scam and definitely not worth the money. Go check the reviews on their several duplicated AirBnB listings. Read the reviews carefully as they are clearly fake (nobody writes real reviews like that) Furthermore, after leaving a negative review on their Google page, I believe they took my personal information and created a fake Facebook profile promoting far-right conservative nationalism, as well as signing up for several newsletters. We do have an IP adress of this and it's being investigated as defamation. Utterly shocking.
