A lovely time in Bahir Dar at Jacaranda-- we had a very quiet room on the first floor, it was clean and spacious and cool. The staff was attentive and kind, and the included breakfast was delicious! It is close to the lake and walkable to the center of town. We enjoyed our stay here and recommend it to any travelers exploring the beautiful Lake Tana Monasteries!

So far the hotel is very good, service team is polite and helps on all questions. Restaurant and food is very good. Many mosquitos, but help with spraying and antimosquito nets. So, no problem at all. Price is fair.
I was not served the offered free bottle of wine as stated in my booking. Room was not with lake view, as stated in my booking.

Was initially given a room with a view onto a lightwell, after having booked a lake view room. Room was changed the next day, but in the older building with no lift- on the 3rd floor. Great view though.
Internet connection spasmodic, but staff worked hard to sort the problem.

I have asked for transfer to airport and when my flight reached asked reception but she said the airport is very near so I waited 40 min and sked again but she still said wait my flight was just one hr but not even appropriate replaid. Finaly took a Taxi. This is not at all has its name as before.

This hotel has great outdoors area for enjoying coffee, drinks or food. WiFi is amazing both in the lobby and rooms. Even streaming via VPN works. Breakfast is traditional Ethiopian, so a bit difficult for Europeans to find food. Rooms are average condition.

Firstly, this is a two star hostel at best and definitely not a hotel. Room conditions: The room conditions are at first glance okay but the beds are the only thing in acceptable conditions if you don’t mind some blood spots on the side of the head boards and holes in the mosquito nets above. Amenities: Non of the electronics in the rooms work including the Wi-Fi work. The fridge doesn’t work even if you plug it into a wall socket that works if you can find one that works out of the very few in the room. The phones didn’t have any wires so you can’t call anyone to get even basic necessities such as towels. You have to hunt down a staff member to do that. Accessibility: There is very limited handicapped accessible rooms. If you are also traveling with elderly family members you will struggle. Food: The food isn’t edible by anyones standards. Safety and Location: The location isn’t the safest and transportation is difficult. Prepare to be accosted by loiterers and sealed by hustlers the moment you step out. Staff: The only thing not wrong with this place is the staff that do the best they can with what they have to work with which is not much. Friendly, responsive and try to be helpful. Management: The General manager is never on site although any and everything has to be approved by him. To acquire any tangible information is nearly impossible.

I stayed in Jacandra Hotel for three nights, and the experience was average at best. This hotel is definitely not a four-star establishment. The room does not have the amenities expected of a four-star hotel. First, the curtains are torn, and the mosquito nest over the bed has holes, so the mosquitoes are not kept away. Second, a hair dryer is a norm in a four star hotel. Furthermore, the hotel has not been renovated for years. It's got five floors and there is no elevator, so if your room is on the upper floors, you will have a very hard time going up and coming down. They still use keys, which is something outdated in the hotel industry these days. Three are positive points too. They offer free shuttle to Bahir Dar Airport to and from the hotel. The restaurant is very good and the staff are very professional there.

I recommend Jacaranda. It is good value, fantastic location in the center looking the lake, I enjoyed a lot my top floor point of view. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a treat with caring personal service. Lovely people lovely hotel. There are some issues though: The pick up from the airport did not arrive as promised and when I called it took a long time to the lady in the reception to understand me. 10 minutes they say but did not come. I got a free transfer from another driver, but felt wrong not to pay him. Turns out their car got a flat tire ... the shower was , well, there were hot water but the flow of the water extremely week, I managed well but it may be really anoying to others, can't say it was top clean, again, good enough for me but not what people may expect from a 4 star. All in all great hospitality, cosy comfortable room on 4th floor (no elevator) with sensational viewing from the small sweet outside porch. Gorgious breakfast and great staff. All in all recommended but there are the shower problem and some other. Amesegena!

The food is not that good, especially meat, but the traditional food is very best. I think it's because I went there during the fasting season. It has a very good view. Just try to order fasting foods only.
