En general, la estancia en este hotel fue agradable y la relación calidad-precio fue excelente, considerando que el paquete ya incluía cena y desayuno buffet. La entrada principal del hotel estaba en una cuesta, lo cual no fue tan fácil ya que llevábamos equipaje. Recuerde preguntar en recepción la contraseña de la puerta trasera. Era un atajo que conducía a la calle comercial principal y al Kusatsu Yubatake. La habitación era agradable y limpia, un poco básica. Solo había un enchufe cerca de la pared del televisor, no cerca de la cama, lo cual era un poco incómodo. El buffet ofrecía una amplia variedad de comida, con algunos platos locales interesantes. La comida estaba deliciosa. El hotel también ofrece fideos gratis para picar por la noche, que también vale la pena probar.

We stayed at Naraya Ryokan as a family of four for two nights and three days, and the experience exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. We were greeted immediately upon check in, and the staff took time to clearly explain the facilities, meals, and schedule, making the entire process smooth and welcoming. We personally communicated with the staff in Japanese, which made interactions especially seamless. We also observed the staff making genuine efforts to assist other guests in English. While English is not their first language, their willingness to accommodate and ensure guests felt comfortable was evident and appreciated. The ryokan itself is beautifully maintained, offering a calm and traditional atmosphere with thoughtful details throughout. One highlight not to be missed is the coffee spot attached to the lobby, which is an excellent place to relax. Their take on affogato is especially memorable and well worth trying. Dining at Naraya Ryokan is a traditional set menu experience that showcases seasonal Japanese cuisine. Guests should be prepared to enjoy authentic, traditional dishes that reflect regional ingredients and seasonal flavors. Each meal felt carefully prepared and added depth to the overall ryokan experience. Our stay felt unhurried and restorative, and we would have gladly stayed an additional night if our itinerary had allowed. Naraya Ryokan comes highly recommended, and we would happily return for another stay in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Urakusatsu Tou, a brand-new hotel that truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly escorted by the staff. Although parking was allocated at a private outdoor parking area, the hotel thoughtfully provided an escort service, making the process very smooth and comfortable. The room was spacious and beautifully designed. Communication was easy as the receptionist spoke fluent English. The hotel also provided pajamas and daily clothing, which was a lovely and convenient touch. The onsen experience was outstanding—definitely one of the best we’ve ever had. You can immediately feel your skin becoming smooth after soaking, which made each visit incredibly relaxing. We stayed for three nights with both breakfast and dinner included. Meals were served à la carte, and the menu changed daily, surprising us every time. The food was delicious and very filling—we were completely satisfied after every meal. That said, there are a few areas we hope the hotel could improve: • During winter, the room felt quite cold as the air-conditioning heater did not function properly and was unable to warm up the room. • Breakfast hours could be extended a little later for guests who prefer a more relaxed morning. • Providing a choice of pillows would further improve sleeping comfort. • The blue indicator light on the room’s control panel remains very bright even when all lights are turned off, which can be a bit distracting at night. Overall, this hotel offers excellent service, comfort, and an unforgettable onsen and dining experience. Highly recommended, and we believe it will be even better with these small improvements.

El Hotel Ichii está justo en el centro de Kusatsu, lo cual es fantástico. Las instalaciones del onsen están muy limpias y organizadas. Nuestra habitación de estilo japonés en el anexo no tenía espacio para guardar la ropa; aparte del armario donde se guardan los yukatas y donde se podían colgar un par de abrigos, no había nada más. Como el personal movía la mesa del centro de la habitación cada mañana y cada noche para preparar los futones, no nos sentíamos cómodos dejando muchas cosas sobre ella. Los futones eran claramente viejos y el edredón estaba manchado. Solo había toallas para el onsen; para el lavabo solo había toallas de papel muy finas, lo cual nos pareció un gran desperdicio. Nuestras habitaciones estaban en el anexo y, si bien teníamos agua caliente en la bañera de la habitación, el agua del lavabo estaba apenas tibia. La sala de fumadores en el segundo piso, junto al pasillo que conecta con el edificio principal, impregnaba todo el lugar con un olor desagradable. Así que, si no hubiéramos pagado por adelantado, nos habríamos marchado antes de tiempo.

The place was so nice and beautiful in winter. The bath facilities are huge and variety but there could be a long queue sometimes for the private baths. The Kaiseki dinner was impressive. A bit of walk from Yubatake but they have a shuttle service.

Kanemidori is a short walk from the bus depot. The staff at the reception and restaurant in the hotel were all very nice and helpful. The futons and bedding in the room are very comfortable and warm for winter. You can also control your own in room heater. The hotel onsen is well maintained with full amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, face pack, hair treatment, and multiple types of lotion. We booked the room only but added on a dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Both meals were carefully prepared and delicious. The main tourist area is within walking distance of the hotel and you can go around in the yukata paired with the long and short kimono jackets provided by the hotel in the winter.
