UUsuario invitadoThis hotel combines the convenience of modern high tech with the spiritual beauty of traditional culture. The rooms themselves are constructed around courtyards that give a sense of what life might have been like in Datong many centuries ago. In the lobby and in the rooms, murals decorate the walls with elegant designs of birds or flowers. The cabinets, bench, and floors made of wood and the countertops made of marble work together well and draw on design choices that are classicly, universally appealing. At the same time, the entire room is wired with the amenties of modernity. The toilet has a seat warmer and a light that turns on when you lift the lid so that you can find it in the middle of the night. Similarly, there seem to be motion-sensitive lights throughout the room that light up when you walk in the middle of the night so that you can find your way around. The water in the shower and the bathtub is able to get very hot (which I love!) and has high pressure. There is also a top-of-the-line hair dryer. It's the perfect blend of high tech and traditional amenities! If I have one complaint it's that the room was so hot that I had to open my window to let in the freezing air, and still the room was hot! That shows how effective the heating system is!
The serivce at the hotel is also extraordinary! All the members of hotel reception are very friendly. And they send someone to your room shortly after you settle in to give you a platter of fruit, which was fresh and seasonal and artistically chosen it seems. They also have 24 hours service in case you need anything. My friend went into the lobby early in the morning shouting about coffee, and the staff came out quickly to make him a cup.
The hotel is also very clean. The blankets, the pillows, and the sheets are as white as snow. The floors are free of dust and dirt and smudges. Everything in the shower and toilet room was scrubbed clean too. And the shower drains smoothly without pooling any water, showing how well it is maintained.
Finally, the location is very convenient. You can see that for yourself by just looking at the map. But I would like to add that just outside the gate of the hotel, you can see the Prince's palace, which is beautifully lit at night. What's more, my favorite restaurant in downtown Datong (I think the restaurant is translated as BeiWei Family Garden or something like that) is less than 5 minutes walking from the gate. There are also multiple shops for buying vinegar or wine or shaji snacks. In less than 10 minutes, you can also walk to all the major commercial streets. I love the location of this hotel!

La habitación y el baño tienen calefacción, y el calentador de agua funciona muy bien, así que no hay que preocuparse por las temperaturas bajo cero. El inodoro es inteligente, y el asiento caliente es una delicia en invierno. Además, el patio del hotel tiene un ambiente muy fotogénico.
El servicio es realmente bueno; cuando llegamos, nos ayudaron a subir el equipaje a la habitación, y cuando nos fuimos, nos llevaron en coche hasta la entrada de la ciudad.
El hotel nos dio dos vales de descuento para restaurantes, ambos recomendados por excelentes críticas. Comimos y bebimos muy bien.

UUsuario invitadoLa casa de huéspedes estaba ubicada cerca de la Puerta Norte de la ciudad antigua, lo que la hizo fácil de encontrar. Al llegar el primer día, la recepcionista nos recibió personalmente, haciéndonos sentir como en casa. Nos acompañó hasta la casa y nos dio un mapa escrito a mano con información detallada sobre restaurantes y atracciones cercanas. Incluso nos preguntó a qué hora planeábamos desayunar al día siguiente para prepararlo, un detalle muy considerado. La señora que preparó el desayuno también era increíblemente hábil; todavía recuerdo los fideos hechos a mano, mucho mejores que los de los restaurantes Lao Chai. Como era tan difícil conseguir reservas en Fenglinge y Longjuxiang, la recepcionista me dijo que Longjuxiang ofrecía servicio a domicilio, así que pedimos y comimos allí, ¡sin arrepentimientos!

JJoyfully RetiredEl Pabellón Yunzhong Chaoran fue renovado justo antes de nuestra estancia en enero de 2026. Todo el edificio está impecable, bellamente decorado y es cómodo. El personal se esfuerza por comprenderte y es experto en usar aplicaciones de traducción cuando la conversación se corta. Tienen una función ”Xiao Du”, similar a la ”Alexa” americana, que permite encender y apagar las luces, así como abrir y cerrar las cortinas. La recepcionista me ayudó con paciencia a aprender a usarla y, francamente, fue una excelente práctica para mi pronunciación del mandarín.
Encontrar el hotel es tan difícil como en cualquier otro lugar donde no se permite la entrada de vehículos. Tuvimos la suerte de contar con un taxista que nos ayudó a encontrar el hotel y luego nos acompañó hasta allí.
Datong aún no es un destino turístico muy conocido. Sin embargo, está bastante cerca en coche del Templo Colgante y las Grutas, así como de la Pagoda de Madera. Hay mucho que ver a poca distancia a pie. El espacio urbano que rodea el hotel está en construcción: espero que se vuelva mucho más popular en los próximos dos años.

There is a night street side food market opposite the hotel which provides interesting food and snacks options. There was also a big park opposite the hotel which provides a good running route.

IItalia de SimoneIl nostro soggiorno a Jing’s Residence, in famiglia, è stato davvero indimenticabile. l’hotel è una residenza storica splendidamente restaurata, dove si respira un’eleganza autentica e discreta. Ogni dettaglio architettonico è valorizzato con grande gusto, e l’atmosfera è calda e accogliente fin dal primo momento.
Il personale è stato sempre gentilissimo e attento, e — cosa tutt’altro che scontata in Cina, nemmeno negli hotel di lusso — tutti parlano un ottimo inglese. Ci hanno davvero coccolati, con mille premure e piccoli cadeau che abbiamo apprezzato moltissimo.
Le camere sono silenziose, comode e arredate con stile raffinato, perfettamente in armonia con il contesto storico. Anche la cena ci è piaciuta molto: piatti della tradizione locale, ben cucinati e serviti con cura. La colazione, servita à la carte, è stata altrettanto piacevole.
Gli spazi comuni, come il cortile interno e il ristorante, contribuiscono a creare un’atmosfera di quiete e bellezza che riflette perfettamente la magia di Pingyao.
Consiglio senza esitazioni questo albergo a chi cerca autenticità, comfort e un’accoglienza impeccabile.
Our family stay at Jing’s Residence was truly unforgettable.
I’m very happy with the choice I made: the hotel is a beautifully restored historic residence where you can feel a genuine and discreet elegance. Every architectural detail is tastefully preserved, and the overall atmosphere is warm and welcoming from the very beginning.
The staff were always kind and attentive, and — something far from common in China, even in luxury hotels — everyone spoke excellent English. We truly felt pampered, with countless thoughtful touches and lovely little gifts that made us feel sincerely cared for.
The rooms were quiet, comfortable, and elegantly furnished in harmony with the historic setting. We also really enjoyed dinner: traditional local dishes, well-prepared and beautifully served. Breakfast, served à la carte, was equally enjoyable.
The shared spaces — especially the inner courtyard and the restaurant — create a sense of calm and charm that perfectly mirrors the magic of Pingyao.
I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for authenticity, comfort, and outstanding hospitality.

UUsuario invitadoStaying at Jiuhuli·Siheyuan Guesthouse (Ancient City Drum Tower Branch) 玖合里·四合院民宿（大同古城华严寺店） was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The location is absolutely unique — being inside the ancient city walls of Datong and staying in a traditional Chinese courtyard house made the entire experience feel authentic and unforgettable. It is much more than just a hotel; it is a cultural experience.
The decoration and design are impeccable: elegant, refined, and beautifully done with incredible attention to detail. The rooms are extremely comfortable, with high-quality products, premium facilities, and a very peaceful atmosphere that made us feel at home immediately.
What made our stay even more exceptional was the outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond in every possible way. They helped us arrange an excellent private driver at a very reasonable price, which allowed us to enjoy a perfectly smooth and efficient day visiting three major attractions outside the city: the Hanging Temple, the Yungang Grottoes, and the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. Everything was organized flawlessly, making the trip completely stress-free and enjoyable.
Overall, the service was simply amazing from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Datong who wants not only comfort and beauty, but also a genuine and memorable local experience.

整个民宿的装修与设计都无可挑剔，审美非常高级，细节精致优雅，处处体现用心。房间非常舒适，配备的用品和设施品质都很高，环境安静温馨，让人一入住就有宾至如归的感觉。

El ambiente era bueno, la ubicación excelente, el personal de recepción fue amable y atento, la limpieza de la habitación fue puntual y eficiente, y todo el personal fue muy dedicado, capaz de resolver cualquier problema con prontitud y considerado con los huéspedes. También había gimnasio y lavandería. La relación calidad-precio era buena, las instalaciones eran bastante buenas y el estilo era chino moderno. Quedé muy satisfecho con mi estancia. Me sentí como en casa. La ropa de cama era cómoda y las comodidades estaban bien pensadas. Incluso proporcionaron una caja multiusos. Es un lugar ideal para alojarse en viajes de negocios y de placer.
