Reception staff warm and friendly.
Upgraded to a sea view suite, lovely views over the bay, what a view to wake up to.
Huge selection of fresh breakfast food, waiting staff very friendly and attentive.
Location is fantastic a few minutes walk down the hill to the harbour.
Our 2nd stay at this hotel this year, 5 stays in total.
We were absolutely disappointed of the service for this time .
1.we arrived for check in at 10 pm on Boxing Day , we asked for payment of car parking which Receiption didn’t listen what I was try to explain, I felt that she was bullying me as I am not Native English. ( I am very sad this is because I not speaking of English good right ?)
2. We went to the room 610 , room very very cold and freezing, I was calling the receptionist for asking help which she told me that select the sunshine symbol, who will know? So we slept in the freezing cold all night.
3. I couldn’t sleep as freezing and my husband was very sick , so we had to cancelled all the plans to visiting our family.
4. I was calling reception in early morning to tell what happened in the room , luckily this time , Anthony was very helpful and sent someone came to check , then we found that the window was opened before I was check in ( why you left the window open in the winter season, who was cleaning that room and leaving window open for what ?, why you didn’t check room before the guests checked in? , this was my job to check room before checking as a guest right ? , who will respond for this situation to make my husband very sick and cancel plans?)
5.next day , we back the room around 10 pm after visiting family , which room wasn’t clean, no coffee, no tea . I was very disappointed.
6. We were check out and met Anthony at the counter reception, who was very polite , very kindly and listened what we were complaining and told us that he already reported to line manager.
7. We were booked this hotel because we booked before and it was lovely service and staff and also close to the city and shopping centres.
8. We don’t know who will responsible for all this situation and we told Anthony that we will not book here again ( usually we stayed in the Future Inn )
I am really sorry for my silly speaking and writing of English but We are very very disappointed.
We cannot say thank you for your bad service , only accept for Anthony and service man on that day .
Big problems at check in but this was actually trip.coms faulty for not confirming booking with hotel.
Trip.com happy to take my money first had to complaint against trip.com the compensated me but with a fight.
Location good you get breakfast included don't expect anything special. Like no round eggs.
Torquay is quite expensive so alcohol and drinks prices at the hotel high.
You can walk to marina in 5 minutes.
No car parking so if you want parking be prepared to walk
Location is good if you want to go to the resort. We were using the hotel to attend a family funeral
Car parking can be difficult and we parked at a sister hotel 10 minutes walk away.
Room was too small and needs updating. Old tea bag left in kettle. Some black mould in bathroom.
The breakfast was good, although portion size was small.
Overall - good value but better hotels locally at small additional cost

The room we were given was at the bottom of a flight of stairs resulting in a lot of noise disturbance throughout the day and night. The hotel itself feels a little dated and the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The fire alarm at 7am was also an unwelcome wake up call.
The breakfast was good, with a decent selection and the general location is good for accessing local walks and the costal path. Parking is a bit of a nightmare and you can end up with a lengthy walk to the hotel when it is busy.
Stayed at this hotel many times. It's like being on the set of Fawlty Towers. Every room I have had has been different. Good views of Plymouth, a comfortable bed and a large room. The breakfast is typical British style.
Great location views from the room were fantastic
Only downside is the price of parking at the hotel so had to use a different location for that

Habiendo dicho que, el totalmente desagradable, desagradable y claramente desafortunado de un miembro del personal en la recepción cuando volvimos al hotel después de ir a las carreras de Newton Abbot, sorrió la estancia de noche para nuestro grupo de 7. We have been to the cliffden hotel three times and had a club room on the first floor they were nice large rooms but this time we were on the second floor our room was very small and claustrophobic nothing like the photos in the booking . We asked for a different room and the man at reception said see me tomorrow morning and if there's a larger room you can have it. Later on in the day my partner went to reception to book a table for an evening meal for us. While she was booking the table the lady at the reception said there were no other rooms you can have. The barman was very polite nice to chat to. We only had one meal in the evening cod and chips could not find much cod it was all batter. Other meal gammon and chips gammon would be good to repair your soles on your shoes. Go to the local chip shop absolutely beautiful. We used the indoor swimming pool which was nice and clean. The gardens are lovely, and the beer is very expensive. Go to the jolly sailor pub with drinks at good prices. Reception is not very helpful. I can't understand why the hotel puts people with dogs on the second floor because when the dog wants to go to the toilet by the time you get down to the entrance the dog has already peed on the carpets. Luckily our dog can hold her pee and she is small enough to carry.I have followed other people with their dogs and seen it. Overall we were very disappointed with our stay this time.
UUsuario invitadoThe hotel itself was nice; can’t fault it. Our room however, had a weird, stale smell and was off-putting, with no way to ventilate the room by opening the windows, as you cannot open them - A/C is not a natural ventilation.
Bed was comfortable, slept perfectly fine, just not nice waking up with the smell, as mentioned before.
Breakfast was good, although I’ve had better.
UUsuario invitadoHi had a lovely stay at the leonardo hotel in Exeter , had asked for a 1 st floor but was given 4 th floor as I don’t like lifts it’s easier to be on the 1st floor to walk up & down , the man at reception called me & changed the room so all good , love the bar and restaurant area and all staff are friendly , will be staying again soon thankyou mrs Stillwell
AAndyPPThe hotel and area was fantastic, however, service at the front desk and the restaurant was lacking.
We took a long weekend break and were excited to try the beach club, however our experience was dampened by the service.
Being made to stand around for 5 minutes, whilst being told we hadn't paid (when we had) was unnecessary and frankly embarrassing.
The restaurant was the most disappointing part of the stay.
I'm the evening service was slow, followed by having our order wrong twice and also dropped.
Breakfast at the restaurant was lacking compared to cheaper hotels that offer continental. Small selection , nothing outstanding. When we ordered a cooked breakfast, it took 30-40 minutes to receive some eggs and pancakes although the restaurant was fairly quiet.
However, the room, facilities, and the spa were fantastic. Beautiful and comfortable rooms. The beach club outside was gorgeous. The spa was perfect and treatments were, to quote my partner, 'one of the best massages of my life'.
We're unsure if we would come back. Although the facilities were great, the service was mostly subpar and not what we'd expect from a harbour hotel.

MMark GBRA last minute booking as we were passing through Exeter visiting family. The room was decent with a comfy bed. There was a little noise from the courtyard outside playing music at night which stopped about 10pm. No issue. Great central location and a relaxed night. No complimentary toiletries 🧴not even a toothbrush 🪥- which is just a pain to have to go and buy them. I asked at reception and he just shook his head. 🤷♂️99% of hotels we stay at have them - seems a little tight 🤣 - anyway no issues with the room or location so we’d stay here again if needed. 👍
