Yangzhou State Guesthouse is located within a sprawling area where many of the facilities are within walking distance. It is like staying in a holiday resort. You can either walk to the different facilities or take the buggy provided.
The Slender West Lake (瘦西湖） is just beside the Guesthouse and is definitely worth a visit both during the day and in the evening.
A bit too hot to visit in the summer, but it will be nice during spring and/or autumn.

This hotel is centrally located to everything. The room is spacious and bright with a spectacular view day and night. Everyday, the room will be cleaned and replenished with all the toiletries, fresh towels, and bottles of water. The owner /staffs are very friendly and helpful. When we encountered difficulties in turning on tv/movies. The owner was quick to respond and resolved the issue quickly . All and all, i will recommend this hotel to my friends and family .

Muchísimas gracias a Duncan, el personal de recepción y el mayordomo, por organizarme un servicio tan atento el día de Año Nuevo. Aunque nuestra habitación seguía ocupada, nos cambió la habitación de mis padres y la mía a una de categoría superior, lo que nos permitió registrarnos y descansar rápidamente.
La habitación estaba muy limpia; aunque era una planta para fumadores, no había ningún olor desagradable. El servicio de habitaciones fue rápido y atento. El conserje y el personal de limpieza fueron muy serviciales, ayudándonos con el equipaje y abriendo las puertas a los pasajeros con prontitud. Estuvimos muy satisfechos con nuestro viaje familiar.
Por último, gracias a HT Housekeeping por enviarme rápidamente mi objeto perdido. Sin duda, me alojaré aquí de nuevo la próxima vez que esté en Nanjing.

La ubicación es excelente, lo que facilita ir a cualquier parte. Pingjiang Road y Guanqian Street están enfrente, y Fenghuang Street y Cang Street están atrás. UUsuario invitadoNow, I can sit here and tell you that we’re staying in an eco-friendly hotel that even though you’re inside its high glass windows gives you an outdoor vibe. I can even sit and talk about the saline pool, its state-of-the-art gym and list all the amenities; and I can even talk about the number of rooms and the fact that as we speak there’s an international summit going on here.
Somehow that won’t speak about my experience here at this hotel. Elements (by Westin) Suzhou Science & Technology Town does have all of the above BUT what I love about this hotel is its Staff. I love the fact that they seem to be always be here. I somehow believe that they live onsite because they’re always around.
In the morning, even before I enter the Salon I hear, “Nǐ hǎo Marsha” from the Breakfast Host, followed up by the nice lady in the Salon, smiling at me and ushering me to the coffee machine, while handing me my 2 brown sugar packs. She knows my morning habits so quickly. Not only that, because they knew Peter was missing from my breakfast table for a few mornings, they now signal to me with take away containers for Peter, to have his breakfast in the room.
When we need to go anywhere the young ladies at the Front Desk (no matter which Shift) are always either asking us where we need to go so that they can call a CASH taxi to get us to our destination. One of them even came with me one day to the Bank of China’s ATM and sat in the taxi while I went in and conducted my business and accompanied me to the Campus to visit Jon-Marc. Yesterday, one of them even used her own Didi account to get us transportation back to the hotel and we reimbursed her (and walked away while she was trying to give us back our change because we knew she wouldn’t have taken the Tip as is their custom). How else could we have shown her how grateful we were for her kind gesture?
Then there is Simon Jiang, the General Manager, who speaks perfect English and is always there to assist and offer suggestions of things to do and places to go. Simon was the one who actually explained to me that you can’t just walk into a pharmacy and get anything without a prescription. What I can tell you is that even though he is the GM he is always on hand assisting the staff with their work. Even though there is a clear hierarchy here, he takes off his jacket and assists in the kitchen, you can sometimes see him helping the older ladies bring out the heavy equipment (if needed) when they’re cleaning the floors, clear tables, etc.
Or Alex Ju, the Assistant General Manager, who accompanied Peter and I to the hospital and stayed and spoke with the doctor and the international insurance department on our behalf (in Mandarin) to make everything a little easier for us.
These people are the ones who have made my stay here memorable and I can honestly say that its because of them that I would recommend Elements by Westin in Suzhou to ANYONE who wanted a place to stay without hassle and with a host of helpful, courteous, friendly staff. It has been my pleasure having encountered such warm, friendly, delightful and gentle human beings.

Check-in Experience
We arrived early at around 6 AM due to the difficulty of booking train tickets during the holiday season. Although check-in was at 3 PM, the staff kindly accommodated us with an early check-in for an additional fee.
Accommodation
We stayed in two types of rooms during our visit:
Single Room - Spacious and located in a peaceful, quiet area of the property.
RV Room - Situated near the camping area where families and friends gather around a large bonfire for singing, BBQ, and games.
**Ratings**
Staff: 8/10 - Friendly and accommodating throughout our stay.
Shuttle Service: 10/10 - The driver was exceptionally pleasant and always smiling. Since my daughter has asthma and walking long distances is difficult for her, we frequently requested shuttle service between locations. This was especially helpful as ride-share drivers typically drop off at the entrance, which is quite a walk from the rooms and facilities.
Breakfast: 10/10 - Excellent variety of traditional Chinese dishes. They were accommodating when my husband requested takeout.
Cleanliness: 10/10 - Both rooms were clean, including the beds, towels, and bathrooms. As my daughter’s asthma is triggered by dust, I was pleased that the rooms were clean enough that she didn’t experience any sneezing or symptoms. We all slept well for the entire five days.
**Things to Consider**
It’s highly recommended to have your own car, as the property is quite far from the city center.
If you enjoy nature and outdoor activities, this place is ideal. Activities include:
- ATV rides
- Fishing area
- Playground (note: adults are charged rather than children, so it’s more economical for only one adult to enter)
- Small animal area featuring rabbits, ostriches, and llamas (15 RMB entry)
- Train ride (30 RMB)
The coffee shop has a wonderful atmosphere and aesthetic appeal, making it popular for photos. The property itself is spacious and perfect for leisurely walks. There’s also a temple nearby, approximately 20 minutes away by car.
**Challenges We Faced**
My daughter developed a fever and experienced diarrhea during our stay. When I called the front desk for help, the staff member wasn’t very accommodating and suggested my husband go buy medicine. This was difficult for us as foreigners who don’t speak the language well. I felt sad and helpless, especially when we couldn’t get any taxis or cabs to pick us up. We wanted to take her to the hospital, but no cabs were available.
However, the next morning, a staff member spoke with me who was extremely kind and accommodating. They even offered to drive my daughter to the hospital, which I declined because we needed to catch our train and she was feeling better after taking medicine. They drove us to the South Railway Station and thoughtfully gave my daughter bags and drinks. It was a very kind gesture that we truly appreciated.

UUsuario invitado¡Estoy absolutamente enamorada de este hotel! En primer lugar, el hotel está ubicado dentro de un lugar pintoresco. Uno de los empleados me llamó con anticipación para acordar una hora para recogerme en la entrada del lugar pintoresco. Mi chino no es bueno, por lo que normalmente me resulta muy incómodo hablar por teléfono en chino, pero ella fue muy paciente conmigo, lo cual agradezco. No solo me acompañó hasta el hotel, sino que también llevó mi equipaje por mí.
La decoración del interior del hotel tiene una estética hermosa y rústica que combina con el ambiente de la ciudad antigua. Me gusta mucho la mesa y las sillas de mi habitación, con vista al estanque. ¡El estanque también tiene peces koi y tortugas! Fue un hermoso detalle que se sumó al ambiente general del hotel. Me encantaron estos pequeños detalles, como el hermoso juego de té chino tradicional (con una variedad de hojas de té sueltas complementarias) y las elegantes tazas de café.
Lamentablemente, llegué a Zhouzhuang durante un fuerte tifón que causó una fuga y un corte de energía en mi habitación, así que cuando avisé al personal, inmediatamente me dieron una nueva habitación. Si vienes aquí, te recomiendo que traigas un baño de burbujas como hice yo para relajarte al máximo. También hice un buen uso de la piscina. La piscina es un poco pequeña y un poco demasiado baja para un adulto, pero aún así puedes nadar agradablemente. Por último, el salón de té y los cafés también son un buen añadido al hotel. Mi segunda habitación no tenía mesa ni sillas como la original que reservé, así que fui al salón de té a desayunar. También es una habitación acogedora y cómoda para relajarse si tienes pereza.
Como he mencionado a lo largo de esta reseña, el servicio es insuperable. El personal no solo me ayudó a llegar al hotel, sino que después de hacer el check out también llevaron mi equipaje y me acompañaron hasta el taxi. Durante mi estancia me ofrecieron fruta fresca y café varias veces y, como ya he dicho antes, me ayudaron inmediatamente cuando tuve que cambiar de habitación. Siempre que tenía problemas para comunicarme en mandarín, el personal hacía todo lo posible por hablar en inglés o tenía paciencia con mis dudas o mi mala pronunciación en mandarín. Probablemente este sea el mejor servicio que he recibido en mis viajes.
En resumen, es un hotel hermoso, en una ubicación conveniente con excelentes instalaciones y un personal servicial y amable. No solo volveré (y con mi familia la próxima vez), sino que recomendaré a todos mis amigos y colegas que se alojen en este hotel si alguna vez planean visitar Zhouzhuang.

Initially was a bit difficult to find this Hotel on Didi (English version of the app) as only the Restaurant attached to the Hotel appears on the App.
But otherwise, once we reached the hotel, the check in was smooth and hotel staffs were friendly and helpful.
Room was good and spacious. I will recommend this hotel to other visitors and will stay here again in the future.

GGreat Traveller💯The lady who checked us in on Day 1 was very good, but the staff did not wear any name tag so I can’t remember her name. We found that she is the only one who was prompt and alert to guests needs. She helped upgrade us to a room that is more handicap friendly, as my husband was on crutches. She also helped us order takeaway using her private mobile phone when the restaurant on site was closed for lunch as we had no china mobile phone number to order take away.
💯The location is great by the lake and near the Tianmu Lake scenic park.
💯Outdoor hot spring staff on duty are attentive and polite. She even instructed the buggy driver to the nearest point to pick us when she noticed that my husband had difficulty walking. However the buggy driver did not pick us from the recommended point as she gave the excuse that her buggy driving skills are not good enough. Therefore we had to walk a longer way to be picked up, which puzzled everyone as there was more than enough space and a road for buggy entry….
❌ Not enough staff, especially at dinner and breakfast. Food is slow to come at dinner even though we pre-ordered. Waited 30 mins and more. Staff are loud clearing the crockery, and had no sense of regard for those still dinning.
❌tour groups arrive in the evening by the bus load. The hotel did not feel premium with the crowd who were very loud.
❌the private hot spring in the room only had a fixed temperature of more than 40 degrees which made it very uncomfortable when the external temperature is more than 30 degrees. 🫥I would also caution against the 100 yuan fish coupon - it is a discount coupon to offset about a third of the price of the dish, not a complimentary coupon for a fish head casserole.
I did not receive the welcome gift so I can’t comment. The public hot springs has 4 pools.

UUsuario invitadoWe were happy with our stay here. The room was nicer than it looked online, and the hotel was really clean. There are playrooms for young children that are free (3 rooms with some different toys in each room). The rooms are a bit old and tired, but my 2 year old enjoyed playing there and requested UK hi back lots of times. For parents it is just great to have somewhere for your kid to play and have fun, especially as the weather was very cold when we went! Outside there is a play area and sand digging pit. Location is walking distance from Tongli old town. Restaurant does evening buffet, and buffet breakfast. The food is fine, more Chinese than western, my husband really liked it and my favourite part was the Beijing roast duck at dinner. The pool is warm, with floats and rubber rings to borrow. There is a little land train, it takes a 10 minute trip around the hotel grounds and the cost is 20RMB for one adult and child. For me it was very boring but my son loved it 😂
The staff are very warm and friendly, everyone is very professional. Each guest is connected to a butler on wechat before they arrive so you can easily send a message and get some help. Our butler is Yu Ting and she helped us very professionally.
For me, the things the hotel can improve are (1) the animal petting zoo - by western standard the facilities for the animals are not very good, just concrete enclosure with hut. For foreigners, we do not really like this. (2) We had a problem with the other guests smoking in the hotel, eg in the coffee bar. When I complained to the staff they tried to stop the guests, but even though they repeatedly reminded them to stop, the other guests continued. In the end they arranged for me to move to a private room near the bar where I could avoid the smoking. I was very grateful that they found a solution for me and my baby, but I am speechless there are such guests who flagrantly break the rules and the hotel cannot stop them. We smelled smoke in some different public areas, so maybe this is a problem with several guests 🙁
Overall we are happy with our stay and it is a good place to spend a few days with kids.
