Very good value for money. The location is not ideal if you want to explore Kathmandu but it's perfect if you have to catch a flight the following day. The view of the city from the rooftop is also amazing.

Si bien es cierto que los hoteles más antiguos tienen jardines y una ubicación excelente, no se pueden comparar con las instalaciones más modernas. El desayuno también tenía unas vistas preciosas. Soy japonés y vivo en el extranjero. Recomiendo este hotel tranquilo y apacible para familias con niños y, por supuesto, para quienes viajan solos.

I had a wonderful experience staying at Funky Monkey Hotel Hostel and Apartment in Thamel, Kathmandu. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and comfortable. The location is absolutely fantastic—right in the heart of Thamel, with restaurants, cafés, shops, bars, nightlife, and everything you need just a short walk away. At the same time, the property itself has a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, which made it a great place to come back to after exploring Kathmandu. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, the room had good Wi-Fi and air conditioning, and having a private bathroom was very convenient. Everything was arranged in a simple but practical way, making the room feel like a good place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. What really made my stay special was the staff and hospitality. Everyone was friendly, polite, welcoming, and always ready to help whenever I needed something. They greeted me with a smile and made me feel more like a welcomed guest than just another customer. Their helpful attitude and warm Nepali hospitality made a big difference to my overall experience. I also really enjoyed the rooftop area. It is a great place to sit, relax, have a drink, meet other travelers, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of Thamel. If you are traveling alone, with friends, or as a couple, I think the rooftop is one of the nicest places to spend some time in the evening. Another thing I appreciated was the overall value for money. You get a great location, comfortable accommodation, helpful staff, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a welcoming atmosphere without paying luxury-hotel prices. For travelers who want to explore Kathmandu and stay somewhere convenient, comfortable, and social, this is a very good choice. I would definitely recommend Funky Monkey Hotel Hostel and Apartment to anyone visiting Kathmandu, especially backpackers, couples, solo travelers, families, and people looking for a convenient place to stay in Thamel. 酒店距離大巴下車位置1公里，預訂之後給我發了2個郵件📧其中一個郵件是告知注意事項，反正有電話號碼，下車給酒店打電話來接我，沒3分鐘就騎個摩託來接我了。房間還可以，在尼泊爾鄉村這個價位就不要挑三揀四，熱水不錯，洗髮水毛巾香皂牙刷都有配，吹風機和熱水要和老闆要，服務很熱情，總體來説不錯。但是這個酒店距離主街有1公里，如果外面吃飯不是很方便，需要預訂的朋友要注意，另外便宜的房間是沒空調的，又另外收了我40人民幣變成了有空調的房間。

The room made a decent first impression and did the bare minimum. But, it quickly became clear that it’s best suited for a very short stay. The bed was comfortable enough. Overall, the room is fine if you’re just passing through, but anything longer starts to feel like stretching it. Staff presence around the hotel was limited. They clearly run on a lean operation, which can go either way. The guard in front of the elevator stood out in the best possible way and added a genuinely warm, human touch, which helped balance things out. At check-in, I was given two complimentary cocktail coupons for the upstairs bar, which immediately lifted my spirits. This was a place I had enjoyed many times before and often recommended to friends and family. I had good memories of the atmosphere, the food, and the general vibe, so I went in with high hopes. In the past I had written raving 5-star reviews of their restaurant food and amazing service! Unfortunately, the experience that followed didn’t live up to those expectations. What should have been a simple, enjoyable night out unraveled into confusion and unwelcoming interactions. Small moments piled up, the mood shifted, and it became clear that the experience had gone off the rails. Rather than force it, my group and I decided to take our time and money elsewhere. Sometimes you read the room and move on. I returned to the hotel later that night and stayed over. Took a hot shower in the morning, loved the smell of their body wash, btw! Another brief interaction during checkout reinforced the same theme: rigid, abrupt, and lacking the kind of hospitality that makes guests feel welcome. All in all, it’s disappointing to see a place I once enjoyed and freely recommended lose its consistency and warmth. I’m no longer comfortable recommending it, and I’m not sure I would choose to return. As for the unused cocktail coupon, I still have it. Any takers?

Mi avión aterrizó en Katmandú a las 10 p.m. y el proceso de inmigración fue muy lento, así que salimos del aeropuerto casi a las 11 p.m. Había solicitado con antelación por correo electrónico que me recogieran en el aeropuerto, y pensé que a esa hora tan tardía y sin tener un número de contacto, nadie estaría esperándome. Sin embargo, entre la gente que esperaba coches a la salida, vi mi nombre en un cartel. ¡Fue una sorpresa muy grata y reconfortante para alguien que acababa de llegar! El coche me llevó al hotel, que está en una zona céntrica y muy animada de Thamel. Justo debajo hay un restaurante de brochetas de Chengdu. El hotel es uno de los más altos de la zona, y cuenta con un restaurante de cristal en la azotea, en el piso 12. En el piso 11 hay una piscina y un spa, lo cual es un diseño bastante audaz. El desayuno es bueno y el servicio atento. Es fácil moverse desde aquí, en 6 minutos en rickshaw se llega a la Plaza Durbar. El tamaño de la habitación también es adecuado, pero me molesta un poco que, a pesar de haber pedido un piso alto, me dieron el cuarto. Además, el baño olía muy mal, incluso con la puerta cerrada, el olor se extendía por la habitación. Este problema del mal olor está relacionado con las instalaciones y el mantenimiento, y necesita ser mejorado. ¡Por lo demás, todo muy bien!

Creo que lo mejor de este hotel es el servicio, que fue perfecto. Fueron muy amables y acogedores. Me reservaron un traslado temprano al aeropuerto a un precio razonable y me prepararon el desayuno para el vuelo (que, por cierto, está incluido en el precio de la habitación). La habitación cuenta con champú, cepillo y pasta de dientes, agua suficiente, café y té, y un hervidor de agua. Solo necesitaba una noche y para eso estuvo bien, ¡pero! 🙏 Si buscas una habitación limpia, ese es el punto débil del lugar. La habitación no estaba limpia; había manchas y pelos en la cama (no míos). Además, la moqueta de pared a pared estaba vieja y sucia. Así que tengo sentimientos encontrados al escribir esta reseña. En general, lo recomiendo para estancias cortas.

VERY GOOD STAFF AND KIND BEST PLACE TO STAY IN CITY

A fantastic hotel with beautiful architecture and wooden detailing. Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. Free yoga in the morning on the rooftop and a walking tour is provided upon request. The rooms are large with lots of light. The bathroom is functional with good water pressure. For winter, an electric blanket, portable heater and hot water bottles are supplied. Delicious and well priced breakfast. Amazing value for money.
