Hotel was not too far from the Beppu station, within 10 minutes of walking distance. Room was clean and there's a sofa included in the room for us to sit and enjoy when returning from the outside. Would appreciate if there's a bottle of drinking water placed in room everyday when we put up the ”changed towel” signage at the door or the complimentary room cleaning service on the alternate days despite the welcome drink at the lobby which only serve from certain timing.
El aspecto general es antiguo y carece de mantenimiento;
Había pelo en el lavabo y había varios bordes negros en las paredes del baño;
La alfombra estaba muy sucia;
Había muchas manchas negras en la mesa y en las sábanas, pero por suerte tenía mis propias sábanas desechables;

Very convenient location right by the Beppu Train Station with onsen sets available for rental for you to onsen hop around the town, even though the place itself has no onsen. Check out their official website in english which shows you everything they recommend or provide. Highly recommend for an affordable stay!
Exit from train station, turn right, walk out of the exit and you will see the entrance of the hotel on the right of the building at AMU. Lobby at level 8 while room from 9 onwards. Level 19 is the free onsen for guests. Breakfast was good local and western style. The washer and dryer not as good I think as after wash my clothing got a smell. Managed to rewash some at Kagoshima. Overall very convenient hotel as we used their trains to travel to Peppu to visit hells and Yokosuka to visit Harmonyland
Great location—just a 2‑minute walk from Beppu Station, so it’s super easy to get around. The hotel itself feels more like a casual, budget‑friendly stay, but still very clean and cosy. Rooms are standard in size (typical for Japan) and nicely decorated with a Japanese touch.
The big highlight is definitely the seven private onsens. It’s rare to have so many options in one hotel, and soaking privately is a treat, though you’ll likely need to queue during the day.
Another fun perk is the late‑night ramen service—a warm, tasty bowl after a hot bath hits the spot perfectly.
The hotel is popular with tour groups, especially Korean travelers, so it can feel busy at times.
Overall, it is a convenient, cosy, and affordable choice.
This hotel is amazing - the staff are friendly, the room is big and the view is beautiful. They also provide shuttle bus service which is really helpful. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good so I didn’t have a chance to see the sunrise in the room. I might come back and try the private onsen next time!
the staff is very nice, the position is wonderful and very close to the train station and the rooms are clean and well equipped. I'd definitely reccomend it!

I had a great time at Kannawaen with my family recently!
We booked 2 rooms at Superior Japanese Western Room With Open Air Bath, with breakfast option.
Parking was easy and spacious, everyone at the hotel was very kind and professional, room was very nice, clean, warm with nice views. I don't have much complaints except for check-out was done through a machinery method and the hotel only had one machine at the check-out area.
FYI they also had employees who could speak English, which was great for forigners!
The hotel facilities are quite old, and there is an unpleasant odor coming from the bathroom drain. The air conditioning has insufficient airflow, making the space feel cramped. Luckily, on the night of our stay, the temperature dropped slightly, so we could open the window to make some adjustments.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The hotel location is good, but the overall stay experience was quite poor.

UUsuario anónimoThe room and the Onsen were EXACTLY like those in the listing and were absolutely stunning! The breakfast was delicious and the range more than adequate. The location is good if you drive but is about 1km walk to Beppu Tower and a bit more from the night street. But I’d happily trade that for the spacious room and the wonderful sea and sunrise view.

UUsuario invitadoThe service they provide is up and beyond. I love how this whole place is set up in such a way for people to mingle. I wish I could have stayed longer and chat with the people. Unfortunately I think it was off peak season so there weren't many people. The owner is generous and friendly, people that stays there are good natured people. The owners sang country road to everyone that leaves in the morning, very heart warming and eye teary especially when I met a wonderful old couple from kagoshima during the wonderfully made breakfast. The common area, which is the dining area, has a scenic view of outside, and the main city that lights up a little at night and beautifully decorated interior. It feels like home. I also enjoyed the indoor onsen too. My favourite bit was the classical music playing in the background, and how accessible it is, like a backyard. If you stay here, return the deed by being good guests.
UUsuario invitadoVery convenient location, next to the JR station.
The room is clean and there is a public bath.
The hotel provides comfortable environment for tourist to relax
UUsuario anónimoWe selected a Japanese style tatami room which was nice a spacious. However, most if the room looks old and very dated. Clock kept making ticking noise that made it hard to sleep but hotel staff was very kind and quick to remove it when we requested. Hotel was very crowded and full of children so the hot spring bath was also very crowded and noisy at times. It was very nice for the hotel to provide free snacks and beverages until late at night. It's a very family hotel and the view is excellent. It's actually in Hiji about 20 mins from Beppu centre. Breakfast is very good. We enjoyed our stay but the rooms can go for a round of uplift to not look dated.

UUsuario anónimogood value for money! would definitely stay again
location: it's relatively further from the station , around a 8-10min walk. there is a 7-11 just around the corner
room: my room came without a bathroom but for the ladies are 3 cubicles shared among the 7 mix gendered guests on the floor. i did not have to wait in line at all. there was more than enough space in the room to open my suitcase wide and still feel comfortable. bed and pillow was a bit hard though, and you can hear anyone talking loudly downstairs outside the building as the room is on 2nd floor, tho that doesnt happen very often.
food: amazing balanced breakfast that changes everyday - really delicious!
onsen: the one on 2F was smaller than 1F, but very good and comfortable. clean too. you can book a private onsen room for 500yen (50mins)
staff: all of them were super friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome. there are english-proficient staff available 24H as well :)
UUsuario invitadoGrandvrio Hotel Beppuwan Wakura is an excellent choice with a superb location. We especially enjoyed the free foot spa, the onsen with its great ocean view and well-provided amenities, as well as the complimentary drinks. The rooms were comfortable and spacious enough for a family of four, and the ocean view made the stay even more enjoyable.
