«We enjoyed our stay in Oita. The hotel is well located by the train station, the shopping arcade, and the lovely sightseeing hotspots. They provided us with brochures for our ventures for 4 nights. We also were able to take the local train to Beppu to visit the Hells which was about 20 minutes with our Nimoca cards. Great basepoint for the area and the room was comfy, had everything we needed !»

«A pleasant and especially cosy stay at Yufuin Besso Shikisai Hotel, made even more welcoming on a rainy day. The room was spacious, with an equally generous and super comfortable bed. Check-in was straightforward, and I really enjoyed their onsen - both the public bath and private bath had lovely water that felt great on the skin. The private bath is allocated by time slot, so be sure to reserve yours at the counter early as the slots fill up quickly. Their breakfast was another highlight, making for a very satisfying start to the day. One small letdown was the lack of umbrellas for guests to use. We only had one folding umbrella with us, so I went to the hotel to ask for a larger one for my husband and our luggage, but unfortunately they didn’t have any available. This would have been especially helpful given the rainy weather. That aside, we had a comfortable and relaxing stay and really enjoyed the onsen experience.»

«I enjoyed the ryokan. It’s quiet however the downside is it’s location - a good 30mins walk from the main attractions. You can take a cab but that will cost quite a bit despite short distance. The onsen is the bomb. Outdoor and not too crowded. Mostly i encountered only locals / Koreans. The restaurant serves food that tastes like grandma’s cooking. Not the most comprehensive to the palate but it feels like home. Overall, pleasant.»

While the general experience was okay, the room cleanliness wasn't up to par—specifically, there was an unpleasant odor coming from the cups and the bathroom. Additionally, the door leading from the balcony to the hot spring room couldn't be securely locked, which was a bit concerning. With better housekeeping and maintenance, this would be a much better place to stay.»
