«Decent ok hotel, proximity to tai Chung railway station less than 8 mins walk if you go by the correct route and not follow blindly on the google map, breakfast can be missed as really need improvement but good to have as not many eateries nearby, good thing is there is a gang cheng station outside and opposite the hotel which can bring you to two famous night markets - Feng chia and Yi Zhong (better), take bus 25, 33, 35, but expect long distance ride, hotel room wall is too thin so be prepared to be disturbed at all times especially at night, WiFi can be weak at times, one last complain is the no throwing of toilet paper into the toilet bowl as too inconvenient for ladies but at this price of a well renovated hotel room, this is still acceptable»

La parte decepcionante ha sido el servicio: muy por encima y con poca ganas de atender y ser serviciales. KKok Chee YinSoy un malasio que reservó una habitación muy asequible por primera vez en Taiwán. Aunque no hay recepción, el personal del servicio en línea también es muy bueno para comunicarse y responder preguntas rápidamente. Excepto por la falta de lavadora, todo lo demás sí. Genial, solo toma 7 minutos caminar hasta Jieyun. Es adecuado para viajar solo. 糖糖包可乐¡Muy recomendado! El servicio, la decoración y la ubicación del hotel son excelentes. Al salir se encuentra la playa de Xiaowan y el mercado nocturno de Kenting Street. DdkworksThe only good thing this hotel offers you is a stunning view of the Kaihsiung skyline, however cleanliness and staff could be improved. The hotel says it is a 5 star hotel, but in fact it only offers 3 star experience; hotel staff looks not welcoming, the rooms are quite outdated, the aircon cannot be switched for heat - it was super cold in the room and they turn the aircon for you before you check in - why? It is 15 degrees outside, why your aircon is at freezing mode?

UUsuario invitado1. Misleading Entrance Signage
Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable.
2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance
When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside?
3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior
After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues.
As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight.
We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of:
- Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance
- Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival
- Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior
We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future.

Location seems great for the station. It's about 700m walk down a straight quiet road, but unless you like listening to screeching trains, it's not great. The room isn't soundproofed well enough, and you can hear every southbound train coming in as they start braking right next to the hotel. The first one starts at 4:40am. I normally don't get up before 8am, but I was awake by 5am every day staying here. The hotel sells ear plugs, which seems rude given that they've been free in every other hotel I've stayed in that has a noise problem. And this one definitely has a noise problem.
This place has no elevator, which isn't made clear on the listing. There are no cancellations, and it's only once you've paid and have no way of changing your mind they email you to say there's no lift. Carrying a 23kg suitcase up to the 5th floor isn't fun.
Talking of which, after paying in full you get an email saying that your booking won't be held unless you also complete the registration process at least a day early. For this you need to add them on line just so an AI can respond to stupid premade buttons that take you to a browser inside line. Once you go through the process of registering, you get a QR code, or you would but you can't check in yet because it's too early, and you can't save the link because it's inside line. Clicking on the original link restarts the process again. I wasted an hour on this. When you get a QR code, it changes every 5 minutes, so you need your phone to get in. This means when you go out running you need to carry your phone instead of a small door card like every other hotel. Who knows what happens if your phone runs out of battery, I just you end up sleeping on a bench outside the station.
Everything about the communications from this hotel seems like they want to rip you off. Arrive early? 500 NTD per hour early. Late check out? 500 NTD per hour. Forget to click checkout in line. Same, I guess. Warnings on the front door not to lock it or get another fine (how about don't let the door lock if you don't want it locked?) Extra toiletries? Also charged for, but with a passive aggressive sign saying you're being recorded so don't steal anything. Several other signs about charges for other things that I didn't bother trying to translate.
Also, you're expected to change your shoes with slippers at the front door. OK, but there's no indication that they are clean. My room was a double, but I came down after the first night and the second pair had been taken..when I returned that night, some child sized slippers were there instead, and the next morning adult slippers. No idea if anyone wore my slippers while I was out, or if they'd been cleaned before or after I stayed.
As well as the room not being soundproofed, the bathroom window has no curtain and the bathroom has a glass door. So once you've been woken by the trains, it's hard to get back to sleep as it's light by 6am. And the door to the room has glass panels, covered with black paper, but light shines around all the edges.
The shower door doesn't meet at the side at the bottom, but there's a 1cm gap under the door anyway, so the first time you have a shower you discover you bathmat is soaked through and the extractor fan doesn't do much so it was wet every day afterwards.
Overall, this room is perfect if you're catching an early train or like waking up really early.
