We got married at Abel’s Harp on Saturday and had the most amazing time. The food was fantastic, the views were unbelievable and the staff were great. Highly recommend! Big shout out to Jade for being fantastic from the moment we looked around until the end! Thank you

Our wedding last weekend was perfect for us. Lovely setting, scenery is stunning. All staff helpful and did all they could. The venue is quirky and has a lot of interesting pieces in it. The food was lovely. And really enjoyed the morning after breakfast. The wedding cake was gorgeous. Those staying in the Pods did say it was a bit of a trek for the loos but that for one night was fine. We loved our time here. Thank you.

Myself and my partner attended Abel’s Harp in June 2024 for the wedding of close friends of ours. Well what can I say, from start to finish, what a stunning day! The location is stunning, with gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and countryside. Inside the hotel, cosy yet still spacious rooms, plenty of seating areas, absolutely stunning food, as well as the most beautiful decorations for the wedding. There was also a gorgeous seating area outside, if the weather allows, a great picture opportunity here! A truly picture perfect venue for a wedding. The most crucial part of this review is singing the praises of the staff members. Every single staff member went above and beyond to make sure our friends day ran smoothly, we could see how much effort they were putting in to make sure we were all comfortable, happy and well looked after. From the attention to detail, to beaming smiles and laughter when being served at the bar, everyone was lovely, and we couldn’t have asked anymore of them! My other half then accidentally left a very sentimental item behind after out stay in one of the glamping pods, which were absolutely gorgeous too may I add. Yes, you do have to use the loos and shower/washing facilities in the hotel, and yes it is a walk down a steep hill, however this gives you a rustic feel, and is all apart of the experience we feel! After a message to Abel’s harp via Facebook, they responded within minutes letting us know that the item we thought had been lost had infact been found, and with no hesitation, the item was posted out to us, at no cost to us aswell. I can honestly not express how grateful and appreciative we both are. This venue is honestly beautiful and I would hands down disagree with any negative reviews. A beautiful venue in a beautiful location, with gorgeous facilities and wonderful staff. Thank you to all at Abel’s Harp 🩷x

Not normally one to write reviews I find some difficulty on knowing where to begin? I would like to start by clarifying that this review is concerning the so called (glamping) cabins and not the hotel accommodation. My wife and I arrived at Abel's Harp after a seven and a half hour drive to attend the wedding of friends on a Friday evening in May 2024 booked in for 2 nights .. we left after 1 which would have been none had we both not had a drink on arrival. The accommodation we were presented with, is effectively a wooden garden office (see pics) containing the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had the misfortune to lie awake on ..there was very little sleep. To add to our joy there are no facilities in the locale of the sheds, no toilets, no sinks for washing or running water, for these necessities you are expected to trudge down to the main hotel and when I say DOWN I do not exaggerate! the sheds are sited at the top of a steep curving road from the car park! and many comments were aimed at it by the happy guests. On the morning of the wedding you are expected to make use of the hotel toilets in the gents, this consists of three wash basins which had no hot water on our unhappy visit or avail yourself of the WONDERFUL shower (see pic) making use of the complimentary toiletries laughingly supplied by the hotel (see pic) during this time...you will not be lonely as hotel guests will be coming in and out to use the stainless steel urinal trough ! perhaps you could borrow a towel from them as the staff seemed shocked that guests would not bring their own when attending a wedding? Still onwards and upwards...again.. at least you can set yourself up for the day with a hearty breakfast!? No we were told ... Abel's Harp doesn't do breakfast but you may be able to get food a mere 15 minute drive away. We stayed till after the speeches but could not face another night of the sheds and lack of ablutions so left never ever to return!! As i stated at the beginning of this review i can only comment on my experience of the sheds and as far as I can gather the bride was happy with the service she received, and the photos will probably be wonderful with the Shrewsbury countryside but if this review can save one guest from the agony of the 'glamping' sheds then this has been worth my time please consider the comfort of your friends and family before even thinking about booking this venue.

We got married here this weekend and what an amazing experience. From day one of being shown a round we were treated like royalty. The staff were never pushy, like we found some of the other venues we looked at to be. The staff were so patient with us and offered so many options for us. Nothing was too much trouble. On the night before they treated myself and the bridesmaids again like royalty and had such a laugh with us! The food is delicious and drinks superb. On the morning of, the staff go above and beyond to keep you calm and relaxed. We had breakfast brought to our getting ready room of hot pastries and fresh fruit. We also had my 80 year old grandad who got lost and Claudia went out of her way to drive (15 mins before the ceremony) to try find him as she could see the stress it was causing. Nothing was too much for any of the staff throughout the day. We also had to move a table before the breakfast as some guests didn’t turn up and the young girls sorting the tables were just so calm and relaxed about moving everything- it was truly appreciated. The kids options were fab. The gluten free and veggie guests were shocked at how well the food was and how much choice they had to select from. The evening table was incredible and the guests absolutely loved it! The whole venue is simply stunning, nothing is too much and we can’t wait to come back and celebrate again with some glamping! The guests loved the pods, rooms and the whole setting. Stunning ❤️

We booked through wowcher. No shops in walking distance so take up what u will need. The lady on reception was very nice and got us booked in the hot tub you get time slots (not every one followed them) and served us drinks from the bar. Our lil shed had bed, lights and heater. There was also tea facilities but had an awful taste not sure if was the kettle. We missed the feeding alpacas as wasn’t told the time and we left early the next day, we should have asked to. We had the pizza night in the restaurant and was lovely again the same women that served us. The afternoon tea was nice to and came in one of the unusual tea pots around the restaurant. The women’s bathroom facilities was fine however the men’s string was broke to switch the shower on. Could do with maybe one toilet up the top as I defo wouldn’t walk down to the toilet on my own was quite dark and down a small path way and back in to the hotel.

I stayed for one night at Abel’s harp for a friends hen do, after looking at the website before I arrived at the facility I was expecting it to be a nice little get away and was looking forward to it. Upon arriving, I was shocked to find that the ‘glamping pods’ were at the top of a very steep hill, getting to the top of this very steep hill with a suitcase and bags was not a fun experience at all and I’m glad I didn’t bring high heels, upon entering the ‘pod’ which was more like a garden shed I was shocked to discover how small it was and how dirty it was. The pod looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned for months, the mugs provided were full of dust and the decor was poor. The whole pod needed decorating and the wall decor was barely hanging on by a thread. I will be surprised if the bedding was even changed from the last guests who stayed here. I then asked where the toilets were and was told they were in the main building, which was a trek down the steep hill. This automatically put me in a bad mood and would be terrible for anyone who has incontinence problems or mobility issues. There was also no sink or running water provided. In 2024, you at least expect some kind of sanitisation. During the nighttime, around 3:30am, I had to get up to use the toilet, the hill to get to the toilets was pitch black and if you don’t have a torch on your phone you would not be able to see a thing, the pods were also freezing during the night and all you can hear is the wind outside, at one point although we shut the pod doors, the doors flung open during the night due to the wind. The facilities inside the main building were ok but again, everything was caked in dust and looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The staff were lovely and helpful but overall I wouldn’t stay here again even if you paid me. The food was ok but the lack of cleanliness put me off. In the morning you couldn’t even have a wash, due to no water. I had to travel home in the previous nights make up and couldn’t wait to have a shower when I got home. Never again will I do any sort of ‘glamping’ and I would never recommend staying here, I would be absolutely gutted if my own hen do or wedding was hosted here!

On the 30th March, we had the pleasure of getting married at Abel’s Harp and it was simply perfect. Right for when we booked it, the staff were amazing. Big shout out to Jade who helped us through all the initial booking and making plans. We were adamant we wanted a relaxed vibe for our wedding and seemed like we couldn’t find the place that could offer us this until we found this jem! Nothing was too much trouble, and anything we asked if they could do it they would. Roll onto the day, and we also stayed the night before and it was just perfect. Little details was so kind, as we had little facemasks, cakes and chocolates in our room and all of our guests rooms which just make it that extra bit special. If you asked me to imagine how I wanted our perfect wedding day to be, it was exactly this. Big big big shout out to Claudia and Jordyn who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. We simply had nothing to worry about at all on the day, as they took it on themselves to make sure it was as stress free as possible which I can’t say thank you enough for. They made sure that everything was exactly how we wanted it, always checking in to see if we was ok and putting us at ease. The food was simply delicious. The meal on the night before was beautiful! Our wedding meal and grazing table was stunning. Everyone commented on how lovely the food was. I honestly cannot thank everyone enough at Abel’s harp for such a perfect day. All our guests left saying how amazing the venue was and how beautiful the day was. Thank you so so much! ❤️

Spent the day at Abels Harp as part of the wedding party for a wedding this past weekend. I will prefix this by saying that the venue is located in a lovely place, most of staff were lovely and did try everything they could to make it nice day for everyone, you can see why this place has good reviews from it's styling and charm and to a point the bride and groom were enjoying their day. However, given how the day went you couldn't help but feel the venue wasn't prepared to host a wedding that weekend based off the following points; 1. On the Friday night the bridal party arrived and the venue had no gas, as it hadn't been paid, which meant the staff had to source little heaters for the rooms due to how cold it was. 2. The food schedule was; main meal at 15:00 (which they did and I will say was nice) and then pizzas at 18:00 followed by a buffet at 20:00-20:30. However the pizza's where served with the buffet which was served late at 21:30 and only had 2 pizzas! This was for a wedding with 80-100 guests! 3. As mentioned, the main meal (hot pork baps) was nice, however the glasses weren't set on the table for the speech toasts and were being passed around during the speeches and were a mix of glasses, like they didn't have enough flutes for the 70 guests attending the day. 4. The bar had ran out of draft alcohol at 19:00 and then cans and bottles around 21:00, the groom had spoken to the manager who had said 'it's not her problem and we've just drank too much' this would of been understandable if it was large number of guests or had been later in the evening, however the guests were no more than 100 and a good number of these been children. Another quote from the manager was 'we can get you 30 more cans for the rest of the evening' at 21:00, which clearly wouldn't be sufficient. Many of the spirits ran out also due to people moving onto them after no other alcohol being available, along with some mixers. As mentioned earlier this really felt they weren't equipped for a wedding this weekend. This really was shame because the ceremony itself was really nice along with the reception before the main meal and speeches. However by the end of the night the bride was upset and the groom was understandably frustrated due to having to chase staff and the manager throughout the evening.
