The Cavalry - Abhay Niwas

We had a great time at the cavalry! Our host treated us like family and made us feel like home. He went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and gave us local tips and itineraries. The room is spotless and has all necessary amenities and the homemade food is delicious. I can’t recommend the cavalry enough!!

To all the readers of this review, I am not here to potentially harm anbodies business or malign anyone's image. Usually, in all the reviews which I give the person taking the review understands and gives a proper reply but here the person doesn't understand the meaning of HOME STAY and HOSPITALITY. Furthermore, I am not here to harm your image so don't be naive on that, if you can't take honest reviews you shouldn't be in this business. First and foremost part I will like to tell you that I have extensively traveled across India and stayed in both HOMESTAY properties and 5-STAR COMMERICAL properties, so you don't have to tell me what's available or not available. For your reference, we stayed in a similar kind of homestay in Jaipur but the person gave us open access to the kitchen, where water and plates for eating were available. WHICH WAS ALSO AN HOMESTAY. Secondly, he also gave us a key to the main door so we have the freedom to come and go. It's not about COMMERICAL OR HOMESTAY it's about HOSPITALITY and I don't think you understand that. For breakfast, you could have adopted a better way of just laying them on the table rather than every time disturbing us. You told us that your servant charges extra everytime he lays the plates for us. REALLY, how do justify your statement? Dinner prices are shocking because we stay in Mumbai and even here they don't charge Rs.800/- for chicken thali which has limited capacity. So don't tell me that you run HOMESTAY which is unique, your money-mindedness lacks the opposite end which is HOSPITALITY. ------------------ The rooms are good, the location is good but if you are looking for comfortable stay this might not be the place for you. They don't have any intercom facility which means that you either have to call them on phone or use whatsapp. Even while asking for water or plates we faced issues. The funny thing was we returned late on some nights and when we tried calling the house help to open the door, his incoming was unavailable. Reminded me of my house curfew when I was kid. LOL. Breakfast timings are strictly between 9 to 10, so no matter if you're in middle of emergency. You have to go and have breakfast or else several calls on your mobile phone will keep coming. One last advice if you are ordering the food ask for the cost of each item they serve because later you will be in for shock.

Me and my wife stayed there for 2 days in the last week of january. The homestay is beautiful, peaceful and neat. They serve really good breakfast, rooms are spacious with army themed interiors. Property is very well maintained with friendly staff and polite owner.

We genuinely had a 5-star experience at The Cavalry & would highly recommend it to everyone. Col. Udai Bhan Singh ji is such a warm, kind and soft-spoken person. He welcomed us himself despite a 10:30 pm check-in, and showed us around the property. The homestay is tastefully designed, a beautiful blend of royalty and the army where Col. ji served for 30 years. The place looks even better than the pictures, and is crystal clean, not a speck of dirt. Our room and washroom were extremely clean and comfortable - 5-star experience! The staff is warm and friendly. We were served delicious breakfast everyday, specially made by Col. ji's wife and son. We truly felt like we were at home and not at a stranger's property, there was just so much warmth and kindness. Also, all sightseeing places are within 10-15 minutes, so the location, too, is perfect for tourists. We're definitely coming back here and recommending it to our friends and family.

Lovely house (and located in a safe, fun area) and our room was very clean and stately. I also absolutely loved talking to the owner and his son! Such interesting and kind people. Wish I could have stayed longer to talk with them more.

Our stay at The Cavalry was extremely comfortable. The process was smooth from the booking to checkout. We were given a room upgrade because of some technical issues with the original booking, which was a pleasant surprise after a long day of driving. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The house has seen ***y summers and the charm of the home outcrops from under all the new renovations that has been done on the homestay. Col. UBS Ranawat is an amazing company to have. He is nothing like the steorotypical image of an army ***. He is the gentlest person you'll come across. We shared his stories of his time in the army and his regiment and missions during a lovely breakfast. His son Kalpshakti was also very helpful in answering all our questions as well as entertaining our requests. I'd highly recommend their homestay for anyone who is traveling to Udaipur and for any number of days.

The rooms are quite spacious. But the breakfast is horrible. The quality and quantity of breakfast is very poor. They only serve south Indian food. Rooms were unclean when we checked in. The stream is of water is very poor and even after complaining the owner did not resolve the issue.

Excellent stay. Very warm and friendly hosts. There is a homely touch to the stay. The breakfast changes everyday and is all home cooked by the Colonel’s wife. The room was very clean and very comfortable. The colonel himself is a very a warm and friendly person. We wish we had taken more time out to talk to him about his life experiences. All in all a great experience. Would highly recommend.

It was a great stay, the host are so humble, always up to serve all your needs The place is well maintained, aesthetically designed and hygienic too. The breakfast though, was the best you can have, a perfect combo of tasty and healthy.
