We booked this hotel last minute due to another hotel cancelling us. The staff were very welcoming, extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel was very beautiful with a nice bar lounge area downstairs which stayed open until 1am. Our room was nice, although we had a room with a velux window so it felt very dark. We didn't have any view and didn't like that we had no window to open for fresh air. I think this was just unfortunate for us due to booking last minute and the hotel finding 4 rooms to accommodate us. Our friends who stayed had nice rooms with windows. We would definitely stay here again.

What the hotel lacked in amenities( a mini fridge in the room) it more than made up for with the service. The staff are amazing and went more than the extra mile to make our short stay amazing and comfortable. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The location is 30 minutes out of Cardiff, but very picturesque. Lots of parking available. I would recommend this to anyone. It is a 3 star but to me felt nothing less than a 5 star. Thank you for making our weekend get together extra memorable.

What a gem. Conveniently located fir the mining heritage site next door, comfy and clearly they’re doing some refurb work to make it even better. Good restaurant with very sensible pricing, comfy, clean rooms and excellent breakfast. Will be back !

The reception staff were all great. They are very helpful and friendly.
Especially Thanks for the handsome guy. He's so gentleman and cheerful.
Also, two pretty ladies at the reception. The bedroom was Clean, Spacious and comfy.
The breakfast was delicious. Free Parking.

Had an executive suite. Was an excellent price and room and bathroom were lovely and clean. The only thing that let this room down was the net curtains at the window which were dirty / mouldy.
Upon opening the net curtain it revealed a very rotten window frame. But the price of the room was so cheap. Couldn’t really complain

The hotel looked ok from the outside but things quickly went down hill upon entry. We waited for a while for a receptionist to appear which wasn’t too much of an issue but we were completely ignored by other staff during this time. We were then allocated a different style room to that we had booked but only found this out when we entered the room. When queried we were advised that all the rooms were the same and there were no executive suites. No refund was offered for the difference in room rate either and the manager was not available until the following day.
We decided to look elsewhere and checked out. At this point we were told we could move to (a nonexistent) executive suite the following day. This was the worse experience of staff we have EVER encountered.

The hotel is well placed in the area with lots of places to visit, however, there was decorating taking place in the hall outside (much needed and over due).
Damaged furnishings in the room thst had been glued together, the place just needs some money spent on it.
Thst said, all the staff were lovely and welcoming, i would return but i would be selective with my room choice.
