Standout was the unique rooms which are extremely private, spacious and beautifully designed along the lagoon. Personally I didn’t quite understand the ‘Butler’ concept and found some of the comms style a bit frustrating. The other standout was the ‘Day of the dead’ celebrations. The property was decorated beautifully and very well organised. The opportunity to also participate was great as we felt emerged in the festivities. It would have been nice if the dinner package also included the face painting. More broadly the property is set within mayakoba so you can explore the grounds including the other hotels and it was fun to explore on the bikes. The only other thing to be aware off is also this is the more premium / exclusive hotel in mayakoba it’s still geared towards families or at least there where quite a few kids around. Finally don’t have high expectations of the beach it’s tiny and there isn’t much space. If you want high end luxury visit Maroma.

Hotel (Guillermo) nos resuelve el error con iniciativa, ¡lo cual es una muy buena movida! Permítanos disfrutar más del hermoso viaje. Los camareros del restaurante son muy amables y prestan atención a sus huéspedes, que es un servicio de cinco estrellas que esperábamos todo el tiempo. Gracias Walter por brindarnos una experiencia maravillosa. Además, el que nos ayudó a traer el equipaje al piso de abajo esta mañana, Axel estaba súper orientado a los detalles en el servicio, ¡¡persiguió nuestras necesidades !! ¡Se merecía más! Great Stay at Riu Playacar We enjoyed our stay at this clean, well-organized resort with spacious, quiet rooms (ours had no balcony, but it was fine). The minibar was a nice touch, and the bathroom was spotless. Highlights: ✔ Food variety – Multiple à-la-carte restaurants (dinner reservations not needed) and buffets with good lunch/breakfast options. ✔beach – Plenty of sunbeds but no umberalla so bring your sunscreen, though pools get crowded les sunbeds. ✔ Access to sister hotels – Party lovers can visit Riu Tequila’s club nearby. ✔ Convenient location – Mini-market across the street, and Playa del Carmen (5th Ave) is just a 150-peso taxi ride away. ✔ Easy airport transfer – ADO bus (250 pesos/person, 45-min ride + 5-min taxi 150 pesos next to ado turism station). Minor drawbacks: ✖ No elevators – Tough for guests with mobility issues. ✖ Entertainment hiccups – The host sometimes forgot to switch back to English after Spanish announcements. Perfect for: Travelers who want good value, variety, and proximity to Playa’s nightlife.

Nos alojamos aquí por 3 noches en junio. No pude meterme al mar por la temporada de lluvias porque había muchas algas, pero no había mucha gente y pude relajarme en la piscina. También está cerca de la Quinta Avenida, por lo que podrás tomarte un descanso de la vida hotelera y disfrutar de un pequeño paseo por la ciudad. Hay un buffet, 3 restaurantes para cenar, una cafetería y un bar en la piscina, y las actividades incluyen yoga matutino y espectáculos, por lo que nos divertimos mucho. Hice una reserva con vista al mar, pero apenas podía ver el océano, así que si quieres verlo desde tu habitación, sería mejor hacer una reserva con una ubicación frente al mar.

Pros - the staff is all wonderful. The resort has been recently renovated so it’s in relatively good condition.  Cons - the food isn’t great… I would call it mediocre verging on poor. The a la carte restaurants weren’t great either and I would call the booking system/insane red tape process to visit the a la carte restaurants off putting, verging on insane.  I probably won’t be back for the above stated reasons, but I must reiterate that all of the service staff were truly lovely and no question the highlight of the trip.

La ubicación es excelente. El check-in fue fácil. Las habitaciones son espaciosas y tienen una pequeña cocina (horno, anafe y microondas), pero no hay platos ni utensilios para cocinar. Hay una buena cafetera y tetera. Buenas batas. Nevera de tamaño mediano con congelador. Las habitaciones con vista a la ciudad no tienen balcones y dan a la calle con vista a la heladería y la lavandería. La piscina está templada y hay toallas de piscina disponibles. A 1 cuadra de la calle concurrida y a 2 cuadras de la playa. Hay un bar con mesa de billar, futbolín y dardos donde se ofrecía happy hour durante una hora todos los días. NO VALE LA PENA DESPERTAR TEMPRANO POR EL DESAYUNO. Las opciones eran muy limitadas y estaba frío. Además, después de verificar nuestra reserva en el restaurante de desayuno, insistieron en que lo pagáramos cuando lo pagamos con la reserva. También sentí que el personal del desayuno fue un poco grosero cuando intenté preguntar detalles sobre la estación; otros hacían fila para recordarme las cosas que estaban incluidas o no.

Firstly El Beso is simply 1 building within the larger Ocean Rivera resort. Meaning only your building is Adults Only. Our Swim up room was lovely. We tried almost all if not all of the 10 restaurants and we had no complaints the food was good. Maybe not always amazing but never terrible. There’s like 3/4 different brands or levels of service within the larger resort. El Beso seems to be 1 level from the top which is Privilege we switched for an extra night & the mini bar for privilege was much better as well as having the butler service and priority restaurant bookings when they were all booked. There’s also a special restaurant only for privilege that was great but none of the restaurants were extremely crowded. There’s an app or webpage that works like an app with all of the resort info and you can book reservations there. There’s also lots of entertainment nightly. It’s definitely a place to go and stay there’s no need to venture outside of the resort there’s so many things to do schedules are packed for all of the different areas & a bowling alley and theater. There is not much near by the tourist area is maybe 20 mins away by car down the beach.

Excelente recepción, sala grande, pero debe tener cubierta para ingresar al primer piso. Es realmente malo tener que entrar a la habitación bajo la lluvia cuando llueve. Muy buena relación calidad-precio porque la ubicación es excelente.

Es muy emocionante y puedes ir directamente al parque a jugar. Tanto adultos como niños se lo pasaron genial. El ambiente es muy bueno, el servicio está en el lugar y las instalaciones completas. Volveré la próxima vez que tenga la oportunidad.
