Best place to stay as it is just right at the city centre.you can reach the shops in just few steps.room is clean.

I like Premier Inns - I've stayed in a lot of them. But this review is about whether their Plus rooms are really worth the extra money at this hotel. I have stayed in two Plus rooms and a normal room in this hotel. The Plus room has a fridge - if you're staying for a few days, that can be useful. The Plus room has a Nespresso machine. In my first Plus room it leaked but the coffee tasted good. In my second room it didn't leak but the coffee tasted a bit odd - maybe the machine needed cleaning/descaling. In both Plus rooms the Samsung televisions got a small selection of channels and didn't get any HD channels. In my normal room, the television gets all the Freeview channels including HD. I need an iron and ironing board when I travel on business. You get this in your Plus room. But a short walk down the corridor from my normal room and there's a room full of them to borrow. Both types of room have air-conditioning. The Plus room has a 'better' shower head apparently. I am far from convinced that a Plus room is worth the quite significant extra cost. I still like Premier Inns and I will continue to use them.

Ideal hotel as close to the football ground which was a 5 minute walk away.The hotel is ideally placed for shops etc and is only a 10 min walk from the station. The room was comfortable, clean and all the staff were friendly. The breakfast was also excellent value for money.

Clean friendly helpful environment was greeting with a smile staff helped me book the room online and anything I needed they was ready to help extra towels, coffee etc

I'm currently staying here at Newcastle (The Gate) in a Premier Plus room (105). Check-in was quick & easy, and the receptionist was lovely & informative. Plus rooms are on the 1st floor and are surprisingly spacious. Our room has a huge sofa with cushions, arm chair and a king size bed which is super comfortable. Plus rooms also have a mini-fridge, coffee machine & enhanced bathrooms, which sadly as I'll explain was not up to standard. The bathroom has some odd staining on the ceiling, potentially mould but quite hard to make out. Our room has a bath with glass screen and unfortunately this has a build up of black mould which indicates long-term housekeeping issues. Turning on the bath tap, some black slodge came out which also looked to be mould or dirt from poor cleaning standards over a period of time. Back of the sink tap had the same problem which was disappointing to see. The bedroom itself, however, was very clean but could do with a good dust as there was quite a build up above the headboard. Bar & Block downstairs was excellent. Amazing food at a reasonable price and staff very friendly. All in all a good stay but only giving a 3* because of cleaning issues.

We traveled from Exeter my husband and three boy's brought tickets to watch Newcastle who they support it's my 3rd time staying just love it here.

Great value hotel, very comfortable and high standard. A very good premier inn! Great location, near town centre, station and local sights.
