Our room was comfortable, well appointed and QUIET! The blinds even blocked most of the light (during the LONG summer day)! Lyndsey was super helpful. She made reservations for us for the Portage Whistle Stop Glacier Tour. She recommended the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center which was excellent, even though some of the animals stayed in their hides-holes because of the rain.

My husband and I spent four restful nights here. It was the perfect location for us to access our boat tour from Whittier, visit Seward and drive as far as Soldotna on the Sterling Highway as he fished the Kenai. This is an extremely well-run, family-owned property with amenities that have become rare elsewhere -- daily maid service, excellent linens, friendly but unobtrusive service, a really good onsite restaurant for dinner, and a complimentary breakfast that is a true, made-to-order breakfast with full sit-down service, not a continental buffet. We stayed in a lakeside cabin with the most beautiful view (even on rainy days) that we've ever had -- and we have stayed in a lot of places with lovely views. Seeing a bald eagle, hearing the loons from our porch and watching ducks added to the experience. I would caution that the other accommodations here may have some traffic noise, as the property is on the highway, but our lakeside area was blissfully quiet. We would highly recommend.

From the moment we booked our trip to Alaska, the staff at Summit Lake Lodge were wonderful! We stayed at Summit Lake for 7 nights in a lake-front cabin and it was a perfect getaway. Lyndsey helped with our reservation and assisted us with booking all of our excursions while in Alaska. I highly recommend the fly-out salmon fishing and bear viewing! We also really enjoyed the Kenai river float trip and train to Spencer Glacier. The lake front cabin was beautiful, spacious and comfortable for our family of 3. The covered porch was perfect, as we unfortunately had a lot of rain during our trip. We were able to enjoy the gorgeous view without getting wet. The cabin had everything we needed, from a mini fridge and coffee maker to a satellite TV (which we rarely watched). We especially liked the separate shower and toilet rooms. All of our breakfasts at the lodge (included with our stay) were delicious and the staff at the restaurant were super-friendly. We ate dinner at the lodge a few nights which was also delicious! (You MUST try the Halibut and homemade pies!!). We also tried the pizzas and ice cream at the parlor and both were great. During our stay Lyndsey, Marty and June were always available and ready to answer any questions we had. They gave us great suggestions for hikes, restaurants, fish processing, and even stored the 32lbs of salmon we caught in their freezer and helped us pack it up for the airport. It's obvious that they truly love their family-run lodge and making their guests feel at -home. We are so happy that we chose Summit Lake lodge as our "home base" for exploring the Kenai region. It was conveniently located to explore the surrounding area yet secluded enough to provide the peace and quiet we wanted when returning each evening. I highly recommend staying there for as many nights as you can!!

Stayed here after arriving in Anchorage, and if time allows, what a good way to get Alaska launched. Not inexpensive, and worth the money. I thought we got good value including free access to: two open-deck kayaks, two canoes, two SUPs, a made to order breakfast included (and it was a good breakfast) and a very roomy cabin. We stayed in cabin 5, which is off the road, not lakefront. The cabins kind of look like the long narrow ones that one finds at KOAs, but these cabins are spacious and luxe. The grounds are kept up, and there are many benches by the lake. Positives: no carpeting, two sinks, separate w/c, great water pressure, good towels, lots of hot water, wood hangers, Keurig, macro-fridge, microwave, windows work well, large space, very clean. We knew ahead of time that we'd be using the futon as a bed, and when we arrived, the futon was made up as a bed. It is an excellent futon, and was like sleeping on a "real" bed. All staff were unfailingly kind and polite. Negatives: As lovely as the setting is, next to a lake, the lodge is also next to a major road, and even in Cabin 5, I could hear trucks--they do mostly stop at night, but not completely. I do keep windows cracked open. One can hear the hot water heaters from other cabins turn on and off- again, going to be more noticeable for people who sleep with windows open. The cabins are tightly spaced, and we were unlucky to have neighbors who liked to talk loudly to each other from their lakefront decks, and in the common area in front of the cabins. Your experience may be completely different, esp if you keep your windows shut. The lobby is locked until breakfast starts at 8:00am. It would have been nice to have access to the lobby as soon as staff arrive, (or even at any time), esp as one has to go to the lobby to have wifi. I can see that my negative list is taking up a lot more space than the positive list, but I would definitely stay again in a cabin, and definitely try to get a lakefront cabin.

This was a wonderful lodge. We had a great vacation! Lyndsey booked several activities for us She made sure they were spaced out, so we would have a relaxing vacation in addition to seeing many sites We had a lakeside cabin and woke up to a beautiful view every morning. We enjoyed the included breakfast very much. Lots of choices. We had dinner there three times and each one was so so good. The wait staff were wonderful I would highly recommend staying here We do have AT&T service, so were able to get cell service and the Internet

The lodge has a great location for day trips out. It’s on a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. The good in the restaurant is very good. Staff is wonderful! The small negatives is that there is no cell service or internet. Also, the cabins are really nice but have no view because if all the trees. Easy to get to. Loved our stay and met some nice people.

This is a family run cabin on the banks of Summit Lake. The lake view cabin is definitely worth it! The cabins were tastefully updated. It was modern yet felt like a cabin. It has all appliances such as Keurig coffee machine with coffee pods, fridge, microwave and a TV. The views are breathtaking and serene as you would expect in Alaska. Breakfast is made to order and excellent. You get descent ATT cell service so lack of Wi-Fi was not an issue. They offer complementary kayaks and canoes with life vests. I definitely recommend going on the lake.

Breathtaking setting, cozy, comfortable cabins with everything you need! Many activities to enjoy the lake and surrounding area. The restaurant is also excellent with many options and the pizza/ice cream shop was great as well. Lovely host family - even had s’mores at the fire for the kiddos at night. We really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend staying here.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed in a wooded cabin which included a full service breakfast at the lodge. The breakfast was great. The lodge restaurant and bar area was really nice and decorated well with Alaska Decor. They also had a little snack/convenient store on site if you didn't want to eat in the restaurant. We did opt to eat in the restaurant and it was very nice. They service was great and the food was good. Our Cabin was very clean with a nice comfy king size bed and a sofa. A large walk in closet to store clothes and luggage. The shower was separate with a sink, the toilet was also separate and then another nice size sink with mirror was included. Our cabin had a nice fireplace that kept the cabin warm when it was raining and cold outside. Everything was really clean! I wish we had time to take advantage of the Kayaks that were free for guest to use. Wifi was only available in the lodge. We did have cell service in that area...but that is not the same as wifi. It was a lovely getaway and I would love to return.
