The hotel is beautiful. Rooms are small, but it is a historical hotel. Balcony with fireplace was great. Only complaint is the pool could be great, but unfortunately it wasn't. It was dirty and freezing cold in 90+ degree weather. Lobby, courtyard, everything else was great.

The hotel is wonderful, our room is beautiful, but the staff are an icy lot! I called to let them know of our late arrival and I got barked at by an angry man. I apologized and I brushed it off. We were greeted by a rather morose young man when we arrived, and went to our room feeling bad for being late. I brushed it off. I rang the bell at the front desk yesterday and incurred the wrath of an employee despite my sincere apology for having disturbed him. The ladies in the gift shop were less angry than the front desk man, but they delivered a palpable frost. So, come here if you are looking for a Texas-sized helping of resen**ent.

This beautiful old hotel is located in the center of town. My husband and I have stayed here twice & loved our time here. Like most historical hotels, the rooms were small but we had a very large walled balcony with a fireplace and plenty of outdoor seating. Can’t wait to come back.

This is a great hotel. It has a**osphere, history, and charm. Its only defect is that to get to and from second floor rooms, you have to climb stairs. This classic restored hotel hosted the cast and crew of the movie Giant--Taylor, Hudson, Dean, and you can stay in rooms named for them. Have stayed here twice, now, and the suite, with a great 1950's-style breakfast nook and kitchenette is really grand, and the James Dean room was comfortable, had a nice view of the alley, and was every bit the top-end vintage experience that this hotel wants to provide. The bar/restaurant downstairs is very good. Met some very interesting people at the bar during my first stay, and had dinner with the (in)famous Covid Cat Lawyer (check YouTube) the second. The menu is varied, and diners won't be disappointed. Service is very friendly, and very good. The hotel is right downtown. Climb up into the courthouse dome, where, according to West Texans, you can see so much distance, you're likely to see the back of your head. The Judd presence is just down the main drag in the old bank, in the old grocery store, just out of town, and by the grain mill. But look around for good food, too, and one of the most well-stocked walls of tequila, mezcal and Sotol you'll ever see. Explore Marfa, visit Ft. Davis, the McDonald Observatory, Marathon (and James Evans' Photography gallery), the Prada and Target stores (you'll get it), and hang out at night to see if you can see the mysterious Marfa Lights.

This was our second time at the Hotel Paisano and while short it was a great stay. Room was spacious with two separate bedrooms and a mini kitchen with a living room. This is a historic hotel so we knew that it would be older (which is what we love about it). The history is amazing and you feel really steeped in time. The fire at night in the lounge with candles was very relaxing. Shops are interconnected and Giant is played in one of shops which adds to the feeling of a movie set. The details from the movie are wonderful and create a magical ambience. You truly feel Marfa. There were a few minor fixes we would recommend to our room to keep this amazing hotel’s spirit alive but overall can’t recommend this hotel enough.

The hotel is a must visit. Room was nice and comfy. Huge. Looks like it was 2 rooms made into one. Modern while having different features of an original hotel. Love all the history. Staff very welcoming. Enjoyed the coffee set out for Guests. Big Bend Roasters is exceptional coffee that you find in most places around here including Marathon at the Gage ( another wonderful place to visit). Here at the Paisano, the porch with beautiful fountain is a relaxing setting. Now Jett’s Bar/Restaurant: Nice staff. But food, very disappointing. Mexican special and enchiladas nothing special. The lemon pie touted as a historic recipe was hard as a rock. I will say the beans were good, tasted home cooked. The restaurant could use some fixing up. Felt like a fast food place, not the historic restaurant it is.

I've been meaning to write this review for a few months so it is a bit outdated, but we stayed here just before Chris**as 2021, the same time as a film crew there to film some sort of ghost-hunter show. We were warned ahead of time which I greatly appreciated, but still - it was pretty inconvenient. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because of the gorgeous lobby, restaurant, and other common areas. Unfortunately, the restaurant was only open the first night we were there and the rest of the trip it and the other common areas were commandeered by the film crew. Each night we had to use our flashlights to make our way across the lobby and up the small staircase in the dark, because the film crew had turned off the lights to film (we were on the first floor in a patio room). We also had to avoid cameras and cables as we navigated the hallway to our room each night in the dark. There were only a few of us staying in the hotel, so it was a bit creepy! Plus, the film crew appeared to be focused on a room a few doors down from us, which meant them talking outside our door until late in the night and turning breakers on/off intermittently throughout the evening - thus shutting off the TV, fan, lights, etc. while we were still awake, which would then turn on again at 3am when they turned the breakers back on (scaring us half to death). That said, this is a gorgeous hotel and aside from our annoyances with the film crew (who were actually very nice and patient about us haphazardly walking into their shots) we enjoyed our stay. The rooms on the first floor with the private patio/fireplaces are small but cozy (the bathrooms are especialyl small). That said, they are beautifully appointed and well-laid out and I loved spending our evenings on our patio enjoying the fireplace! (though it doesn't give off much heat). I would love to come back someday without the film crew there and really get to enjoy all the hotel has to offer.

Beautiful place with great photos everywhere from when the cast from "Giant" stayed here in the 1950s. Very charming interior, clean rooms and incredibly comfortable beds! Two very minor things, the room lights are too dim and the bathroom is tiny with no fan or ventilation. However, it's a historic hotel so lucky to have an in-suite bathroom at all :-) Also be aware that there is no elevator so you need to carry your own luggage up the stairs. Lady at front desk was very helpful, gave us info on places to eat around the area.
