GGayatri GallowayEstablished in 1879, this hotel is indeed the Grand Birmingham Hotel! It oozes classiness throughout.
Our room was spacious but looking at the floor plan, that seems to be the standard! Bathrobes provided though not slippers. The shower has a door instead of the useless walk in panels that never work! No useless espresso cups but proper world map mugs for our coffees and tea in-room. Two comfortable arm chairs and the bed… The bed was a dream and I’m hoping to source the exact mattress topper and duvet!
Perfect for me as a smoker, the hotel has an exclusive courtyard terrace on the first floor offering complimentary self service coffee.
There are two adjacent restaurants to the hotel that uphold a dress code ensuring the premises is classy throughout. Beyond the hotel doors there’s plenty other eateries as the hotel is bang in the centre right by the Birmingham Cathedral: again perfect for our following Palm Sunday.
The only thing I don’t understand is why the hotel entrance is not bigger and grander than it deserves.

UUsuario invitadoAll staff were excellent always very helpful, facilities need refreshing hotel needs sprucing up, gym equipment tired and ripped Pool small.
Chairs in the bar area either dirty or broken, very busy hotel trying to be too many things to too many people. Tried to book Spa on Saturday or Sunday both full.
Breakfast basic to say the least.
It was a shame, as once again the staff made our stay.

Staff are friendly, rooms kept clean, lots of things to do if you do not want to travel outside the hotel.
Would 100% recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for the perfect break.

UUsuario invitadoLa señorita de recepción fue muy amable, era el día más caluroso del año y nos quejamos del aire acondicionado, rápidamente nos cambió de habitación, cuando tuvimos más inquietudes y llamamos a recepción, apareció rápidamente y nos brindó una cálida asistencia, seguro valor por mi dinero.

SSwanna L KukLocation is perfect. It is in the city center. Next door is Grand Central shopping mall and Bullring. And the New Street Train station is below Bullring. Chinatown is only 10 mins walk away. We have booked a 2 single-bed room and the beds are very narrow and soft mattresses. However the room is clean. You are required to inform the reception to have the room clean up which is a bit strange. And the reception doesn't usually have someone attend. You will need to ring the service bell in order to have someone to help. The key cards sometimes is a problem. The reception could only issue one key card when we checked in. And we only be able to issue the 2nd card the next day. I think it might be the problem with the system.

SSfrixelReally unsatisfied with the cleanliness of the room, there was a huge amount of dust anywhere that I was sneezing continuously.
Also, the most disgusting thing were the bedsheets, stained with yellow spots! I asked for a new set of bedsheets and the reception gave them to me and I had to put them on, because there was no one of the cleaning team to do it.
Very very very unsatisfied.

UUsuario invitadoThe hotel is conveniently located nearby the new street station which is excellent. But the rooms is small and old, the bed sheets look grey (tho clean). The mattress is also old. It is okay to stay just 1 night (if you don’t have other choice and budget) but not more than that.

UUsuario invitadoLamentablemente, aparte de su ubicación, este hotel no tiene nada bueno.
Había cola cuando llegué, algo extraño para esa hora (sobre las 20:30). El ascensor estaba oscuro y deprimente, y la habitación aún más.
Había un olor horrible, como a vómito, en la habitación. El suelo parecía sucio. El suelo del baño estaba igual, con las esquinas sucias. No me sentía limpio en la habitación.
El televisor era bueno, ya que era un televisor inteligente, así que vi lo que quería.
Las paredes son finísimas y se oía todo tipo de ruidos y enchufes. Las puertas se cerraban de golpe, lo cual fue molesto toda la noche.
El papel pintado era muy viejo y estaba cubierto de capas de pintura.
No hay aire acondicionado; la calefacción estaba encendida cuando entré.
La cama fue la peor en la que he dormido. Los muelles me pincharon toda la noche; apenas dormí.
Tampoco había secador de pelo, así que no usé la ducha.
Si tienes un presupuesto muy ajustado, quédate aquí, pero seguro que encuentras un Airbnb más barato.

UUsuario invitado5 stars. Exceptionally clean room, outstanding staff and an unbeatable location. Everything you need is within walking distance and the surrounding shops and amenities make it the perfect spot. Friendly people throughout and an altogether excellent stay. Highly recommended.
