La habitación era espaciosa, limpia y con pensamiento. Cada detalle, desde las ropa de cama hasta las instalaciones modernas, reflejaba un compromiso con la calidad. También aprecié el complimentario Wi-Fi de alta velocidad y el minibar bien almacenado, que añadió comodidad y un toque de indulgencia.
El restaurante del hotel ofrece un menú variado con platos frescos y saborosos que se sirven para diferentes sabores. El personal del restaurante era atento y amigable, haciendo que todos los platos fueran agradables.

AAinurhakimDar Lon is a great hotel for business travellers. They have free flow coffee and complimentary vouchers are given upon check in where you can redeem ice cream, fruits or a cake. Would definitely choose Dar Lon for the next stay!

TTan Poh LayRather close to Hsinchu Railway Station (few minutes' walk) and main attractions (10 to 15mins' walk to chenghuang temple and Big City, a big-scale shopping centre with SOGO adjacent to it). However, it is a bit pricey for a solo traveller. Dental kit is not provided. There are not many places for breakfast either. I had to visit McDonald's and convenience stores (very near to the hotel) for breakfast. The staff (I encountered two of them) would answer your questions but without a smile.

UUsuario invitadoFor the price, this place was very disappointing. First surprise was when checking in, you're told that you have to hand your keys in whenever you leave. I asked why, and they said they don't want people copying the keys, but it certainly doesn't make me feel my stuff is safe when I don't have the key. Why they couldn't use a key card system like every other hotel, I don't know, but they wouldn't have that problem if they did. In any case, the locks are terrible. Like the kind for locking a bathroom door, it'd probably open if you rattled hard enough!
The room itself clearly hasn't been redecorated in years, and looks tatty and everything is old and outdated. Worryingly, clearly there's a water leak from the bathroom and the corner of the wall on the bedroom side showed obvious water damage and looked damp. I think the room had been cleaned well enough but everything was so old, I didn't really want to touch anything. There was no quilt cover, just a sheet under it, so who knows how dirty that might have been. Likewise, there was a water cooler in the room rather than supplying bottled water, but I didn't feel confident trying it and bought bottled water from the shop instead.
I think they'd tried to make an effort to make the rooms colourful. That was a focus of the room pictures and also they have photos of different room styles downstairs in the breakfast room too, but it just looks a bit weird. In my room, it looks like they found a random outdoors picture on the internet and copy pasted some random English text over the top. So, there's a full wall sized advert for a foreign internet company. It just looks tacky on a bedroom wall!
The shower is over a bath, which is pointless as the bath is about 1m long and so nobody would fit in it comfortably anyway. Of course, there's no shower curtain so everything in the wet room gets soaked when you have a shower. Also, there's a sign by the toilet paper dispenser telling you not to put paper in the toilet, so I put my dirty paper in the bin provided. Was quite shocked that they don't clean the room daily as it wasn't a pleasant smell a day later.
The breakfast was very basic Chinese style. I've enjoyed the Chinese breakfast in every other hotel I've stayed here, but here it's basically only rice, tofu and pickled vegetables.
The location is good though. Close to the train station, and so near to all the sights as well.

Value for Money: For a budget-friendly price (often around $25–$30 USD), you get a surprisingly spacious room. Unlike many modern ”shoebox” hotels, these rooms have plenty of floor space.
Breakfast Buffet: Many guests are pleasantly surprised by the breakfast. It’s a local spread—think braised pork rice (Lu Rou Fan), porridge, and stir-fried vegetables—alongside basic toast and coffee.
Unexpected Perks: Even the budget rooms often come with a bathtub, which is a rare find at this price point. The hotel also offers free use of a washing machine on the first floor. The ”Old School” RealityVintage Vibes: The hotel is definitely showing its age. You’ll find wooden doors with traditional locks, dated carpets, and some ”dusty” corners. It’s clean where it counts (the sheets and towels), but it doesn’t feel ”modern.”No Central Heating: Like many older buildings in Taiwan, there is usually no heater in the rooms. SSharon PSLa habitación del hotel y el establecimiento en general son viejos y están deteriorados. Era totalmente diferente a las fotos que se mostraban en Trip.com. La habitación es pequeña y el humo del tabaco entraba fácilmente porque la puerta es bastante grande. A veces, el humo de los demás pisos entraba por la ventana del baño, que estaba cubierta con una puerta de cristal. Por lo tanto, era muy desagradable e incómodo inhalar todo el humo de segunda mano de los demás huéspedes alojados en otros pisos. También encontré un envoltorio de condón roto y tirado en el fondo del dispensador de pañuelos después de usar el último pañuelo de papel de mi habitación; me llevé un shock al verlo. Entonces me di cuenta de que el hotel se alquilaba para uso diurno con fines de ************, ya que se proporcionaban condones gratuitos como parte de los servicios. La señora de la limpieza fue amable e hizo su parte limpiando mi habitación y haciendo mi cama; tal vez pasó por alto el envoltorio de condón roto que estaba en el fondo del dispensador de pañuelos. El dispensador de agua parecía viejo y no me dieron ninguna botella de agua mineral. Terminé comprando mi propia agua en una tienda de conveniencia. Está justo enfrente de la estación de tren de Hsinchu. El servicio fue excelente; le doy crédito a la señora de la limpieza, que es muy amable y servicial.

Once I open the room door I noticed a weird sourish smell. Room is definitely dated.
The AC kept making weird noise, had to turn it to low and the noise level is more acceptable.
Other than that it appears to be clean.
As I was staying for only 1 night and my friend is staying more nights, after I checked out, I went over to his room to store my perishables in the fridge as my flight is at 8pm.
Once I stepped in, there was a strong sourish smell in the room which even the cleaning staff acknowledged that she smell it too. She sugggested opening the window to facilitate better air flow and if it still doesn’t work then maybe will use a air freshener.
And then, the metal key didn’t work when I try to open the room door. The same lady assisted me and told me to turn the key left before turning the door knob right. But when I came back to the room, the key doesn’t work no matter if I turned it left or right.
She took over and it opened, had to turn it left with more force 😬
Next, AC controller doesn’t work.
She came back again and when she press it worked but she also said it’s tougher to press the button, she will change the batteries. After changing the batteries it’s still very tough to press the button, so she changed the controller instead.
How eventful.
Won’t stay again if I can help it.
Positive note though, the room wall paper doesn’t have the weird black barbwire pattern shows on the pics of trip.com, sorry I forgot to take pics.
