UUsuario anónimoПотрясающая атмосфера. Очень близко к центру гуляний в Курокава Онсен расположен отель. В самом отеле довольно просторные номера, есть кондиционер (обогреватель). Когда выяснилось, что у нас нет переходника на 100В розетки, персонал быстро смог найти для нас зарядную станцию с usb-выходом. В отеле есть 6 частных онсенных комнат, которые обслуживаются по принципу first come - first served. Чтобы отслеживать их доступность - есть отдельное приложение на телевизоре. В середине марта места хватало на всех желающих. Но если нет желания ждать, всегда можно пойти в общий мужской/женский онсен. Очень понравилось, чтопо самому рекану (жилой части) ходить в обуви запрещено, её надо оставить до выезда, а взамен получить тапочки для прогулкипо окрестностям. Пока не забыл, на стойке работает девушка с хорошим английским, ей спасибо за объяснение основных правил

MMikhailОстанавливался на одни сутки в середине мая 2025г. Этот новый отель в традиционном стиле предназначен для уединений и спокойного отдыха. Абсолютная приватность, даже за завтраком вы ни с кем не пересекаетесь, вас обслуживает в приватной зоне ваш собственный официант. Была дождливая погода, поэтому я все время провел в отеле. Стильный огромный номер с большим собственным онсеном, из которого не хочется вылезать. Огромный телевизор с хорошим звуком и youtube, что в японских отелях есть далеко не всегда. Быстрый wifi. Завтрак-кайсеки очень вкусный, такой вкусный, что я съел бы еще такой же. Отель находится в деревне, сильно в стороне от поселка Курокава и автобусного терминала. Магазина в деревне нет, там вообще ничего нет. От автобусного терминала до отеля можно дойти пешком за 30мин только если у вас один рюкзак. Между отелем и автобусным терминалом очень редко ходит местный автобус. Зато утром, после завтрака, из отеля до Курокава идет бесплатный шатл.

UUsuario invitadoSomos encargados de un auto, el estilo japonés del río montanhoso no es bueno en general. Reservé dos cuartos de cuatro personas (con piscina de sopa interior), uno en los dos pisos de la casa, uno en el otro lado de la casa.
La comida del hotel no es adecuada para el chino de la salchicha (carne picada), pero la piscina es elegante y busca un trato de seis metros de altura, pero la sopa en la habitación y el viento abierto en público son agradables.

UUsuario invitadoWe love this quaint spot, there's a lot of variety of public bath (for women as I can only comment for it) - you can even visit their sister shop nearby. Location wise - it's not walking distance to the main onsen town, but it means it's bigger. We travel in a group of 8 and slept in a 4-person room with a private onsen inside, which was awesome. Amenities were great and the food was so amazing!! The eel dinner was just mindblowing. The staff there were super attentive and there was one of them who speaks Chinese that made everything easy as well. There was a male staff who sent us out, helped us take lots of great photos - he did much more than we asked him to.

CChuck ChuangI love the interior of this resort. The staff members are really friendly and helpful. I had little knowledge in selecting local onsen resort, so my initial expectation was not high. Much to my surprise, I love everything this hotel has had. Facility wise everything looks brand new. The room is spacious and comfy. The public bath and indoor onsen are big and clean.
As for the meals, the presentations were good and they were delicious. I have no complaint about it. Keep up with the good work. Look forward to staying there again.

From the moment we arrived, the hospitality at Takenokura Sansou was exceptional. The receptionist came out to the car park to welcome us personally and escorted us to the reception office. He and his colleague then helped unload our luggage and thoughtfully delivered everything to our room.
The warmth extended well beyond the front desk. As we walked through the dining hall en route to our room, even the chef greeted us with a smile, which immediately made us feel genuinely welcomed.
The staff took the time to explain all the room amenities in detail, including how to adjust the temperature of the private outdoor onsen. At the dining hall, the service team was consistently friendly and approachable, despite my limited Japanese. They served us with patience and sincerity—even when my son happily requested four servings of their heavenly dinner rolls.
Upon checkout, the team came out again to bid us farewell. This was, without question, the best service we experienced throughout our 18-day journey across Kyushu.
Facilities
While some aspects of the room décor and appliances are dated, everything was immaculately clean. As someone particularly fussy about bedding, I can confidently say that Takenokura Sansou offers the best futon I have experienced since I began traveling to Japan in 1999. The quilt was fluffy and soft, while the futon was firm yet incredibly comfortable. I honestly wanted to stay longer just for the sleep.
The private outdoor onsen was the highlight of our stay. The small garden was beautifully arranged, creating a serene and intimate atmosphere. The water temperature could be easily adjusted, and soaking while gazing up at the sky was pure enjoyment.
The room layout was clearly well thought out, with the shower located just before the outdoor onsen and a door to keep out the cold—allowing you to warm up comfortably before stepping outside into the winter air. A small heater near the porch area by the toilet would be a welcome addition to make late-night visits more comfortable, but this is a very minor suggestion.
Dining
This was probably the best dinner we had during our time in Kyushu. Takenokura Sansou surprised us with a beautifully executed fusion-style, course-by-course kaiseki meal. Combined with cocktails and warm interactions with the charming and friendly oba-chan service staff, the entire dining experience embodied what I love most about Japan: excellent food, heartfelt service, and meticulous attention to detail.
One moment stood out in particular. When my son asked—in English—whether he could have a fourth serving of the dinner roll, the chef unexpectedly emerged from the open kitchen and personally served him a freshly toasted roll with soft butter. We were genuinely delighted and deeply touched by this thoughtful gesture.
Conclusion
Everything about our stay at Takenokura Sansou was exceptional. My only regret is booking just one night. I will most certainly return if I visit the Mount Aso area again.

HHJHKPros- spacious villa, quality bedding and large private indoor onsen( see picture 13). We also like the public outdoor onsen in the sister ryokan nearby. There is a little cafe there you can buy drinks and coffee, run by an adorable old couple, very nice and polite. We spent a lot of time there just chilling and listening to the music.
Cons-
Living room: we were only able to book the western style villa as it’s a little last minute trip. The living room is basic, bland, with sofa, instead or tatami. Our room 512 is next to the car park. Parking lot in front of your main door is not very pleasant.
Food : just soso. Nothing extraordinary. See picture. No horse sashimi, the presentation of the steak is really ordinary - disappointing. Perhaps because we had such an amazing meals in the previous ryokan this became a massive letdown.
Dinner served in a large public dining room, lack of the privacy and intimacy ther ryokan provide ( we had private dining room in another ryokan 野之花during this trip). I got to see other couples but also feeling like we are being watched.
Service- served by young people, not much attentiveness you would expect in traditional ryokan, lack of the warmth and ritual.
Reception- 3 star at best. A basic room with uncomfortable chair while you wait to be checked in. We arrived around 2:30pm, and was told that check in can only start at 3pm, and please wait. So we sat at the hard chair and forced to watch the promotional video until 3pm.
Conclusion - 3.5 star ryokan, not the most exciting or exclusive villa we have stayed. Maybe it would get better once the trees grow thicker and staff better trained. The sister Ryokan nearby has better feel of environment and feels more established.

VVarnTeingKurokawa onsen was the highlight of my trip to Kyushu. So I splurged on this accomodation. I chose a room with river view and it was the best decision. Love the stay so much.
Staffs were lovely and helpful. They speak good English and Mandarin. Lobby was spacious. Plenty of spaces to chill and chat as a family.
The onsens were abundance to choose from.
Breakfast was awesome, so was dinner.
We got the room with 2 beds and 2 futons. We all enjoyed our stay so much

UUsuario invitadoThe place is a little of the beaten path and requires a car with snow tires equip, but it is worth the drive. There is parking available and the staff were amazing and the room was (house) was spectacular.
It was a traditional Japanese house (sliding paper doors everywhere) with a lot of rooms to use including western style beds, massage chair and the all important private onsen bath which was a large and luxurious open air bath.
We arrived just after snowfall so we were not impacted by snow on the roads, but it is probably a good idea to get the food options for your stay or bring some food with you for a short stay for dinner, as the roads around might be a little hard to navigate at night with no nearby walkable convenience.
Very lovely stay and I wish I booked an extra night as this was a highlight in my trip in terms of accommodations.
