Chateau de Hiéville

This was an incredible place to stay! The owners were there to easily answer questions and make recommendations for things to do and dinner. Breakfasts are delicious and scenic as the breakfast room overlooks the backyard. Breakfasts are also local products and the owner's husband even makes the pastries! The rooms are clean and beautiful, and we had such a fun stay!

I was so relaxed and refreshed after my visit here! The breakfast was so delicious (plus with the jet lag it was great to have a routine!) and the hosts were so wonderful- great tips for exploring the surrounding areas (from points of interest to restaurants and beyond). The stay was so picturesque and peaceful and I would love to come back and recommend this to anyone looking to explore the Normandy region.

This is a beautiful place. Gorgeous grounds and stately chateau. Unfortunately, this did not work for us. The proprietors were nice but very clingy; for example, couldn’t take a walk without them hovering and letting me know places that I could and could not go to with the dog. There are a lot of rules, which we got bombarded with immediately on arrival. It felt controlling and restricted. The room was decorated in a funky way, which is fun, but it is fussy and cluttered not a lot of space for the guests’ things. The room was stuffy, but we were told we couldn't open the window. No fan or anything to help ventilate was provided. The main issue for us was we have a dog, which is allowed, but the room was at the top of three flights of rickety curved stairs. This made it ridiculously difficult to navigate up and down, especially with the dog. Also, they did not tell us they had a cat, who is very territorial and made our dog uncomfortable. Most places we’ve stayed with a cat have been fine, but this one was stalking and aggressive. It should be communicated to guests. The whole experience was not what we expected, and we felt so uncomfortable that we actually left early. It just wasn’t for us.

Beautiful chateau, top notch decor and the bread pudding for breakfast was out of this world good. we were welcomed with a glass of local apple cider. we strolled the grounds and the property is very enchanting. 10 out of 10

Christophe and Stephane have commenced a significant restoration project on this small 2nd Empire Chateau it’s grounds and outbuildings. The first stage of the Chateau is complete and is quite comfortable and well furnished. An external heated pool is provided with superb modern but period style surrounding buildings. The gardens are being restored and replanted with these works well advanced with a magnificent large stone dovecote and outbuildings next in line. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay and Christophe &Stephane were delightful hosts. We wish them well

Chateau de Hieville was very special place. The chateau itself is a beautiful building filled with nice pieces of art and furniture that fits with the chateau. The whole property is well kept and also the new pool area (opened in 2022) is quality work. The host Christophe was super friendly and helpful attending all our needs and being proactively available whenever needed. The only regret we have is that we should gave spent more than two nights.

Chateu de Hieville, words simply don’t cover the amazing location, friendliness of the 2 amazing owners who welcome you with the upmost friendliness and warm hearted openness! We have been coming to France for over 40 years and we have never ever come across such an amazing bed & breakfast. The chateau is a well renovated piece of french history and once you enter the location itself, it’s simply stuns you with the high levels of details and the minute attention that has been given to the entire interior; including the amazing rooms and suites. Breakfast is another feast which serves you amazingly homemade products such as jam, yoghurt, traditional local dishes and of course fresh croissants. The garden is an adventure on it’s own covering a very large area with an amazing small glass house and a very generous area for the mini donkey and 2 lovely goats. The owners are currently preparing to build a swimming pool. If you want to indulge yourself and your family or loved ones; than I would really highly recommend you to visit this marvelous chateau and experience friendliness, kindness and the amazing location! Keep it up with your amazing work and passion!

Staying at Christophe's and Stéphane's was one of the best traveling experience ever and absolute highlight of my solo trip to Normandy. After having booked initial 2 nights stay, I returned for one more night after some intensive travelling and driving through beautiful Normandy. Needless to say, it felt like coming home. The key is not only the beautiful Chateau, gorgeous rooms and excellent breakfast, but the atmosphere, attention to details and care that Stéphane and Christophe (and Meringue) create. It is the feeling of a happy place: slow pace, tranquility, assurance, and most importantly, remarkable hosts, who love what they do (one can absolutely tell just by looking at them). I will carry this memory as a treasure. Absolutely one of the best ever! Thank you!

I will recommend this place to everyone as often as I can. The breakfast is wonderful. The property is beautiful. The rooms are extremely comfortable. If I could move in, I would. Stay here, you won’t regret it.
