Domes Aulus Elounda All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton

My husband and I visited for two weeks for our Honeymoon! We stayed in Cool Living and the experience was fantastic - beautiful room and stunning views! Some people have complained about the hotel being on a steep hill, but this is like most places in Crete - plus with the amazing views, how can you be surprised by this?! It was great to have a variety of options for places to eat in the Hotel other than a Buffet. Would just advise guests to be sure to book these in advance. The food was lovely and we had no complaints about this. Despite being understaffed, it must be mentioned that the staff were AMAZING! Such friendly people and always did their best to help ensure you had a great experience! I would love to mention all of them individually but a big shout out to Greg (Cool Living Area), Sissy (Concierge) and Vassieiki (Guest Relations) for their impeccable service! Only slight criticism I would have is that some guests who were not part of Cool Living, were using Cool Living space in terms of beds etc. As you pay extra for this benefit, I think there should be a way that this can be checked. Overall, we will definitely be back - FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! Please do take some reviews with a pinch of salt - people can be hard to please and want to look for anything to complain about.

Overall I have to start by saying this is a nice hotel with good food and service in the main and it is clean and well maintained. The service is generally very good but inconsistent depending on who you get and what the name of the restaurant is that day. As an example you can sit in the same restaurant one day and be served drinks and the next day your told you have to go and get it yourself 😬 The hotels pool and main areas are very small for an all inclusive so you can get cabin fever. The photos do a very good job of making it look bigger. Thankfully the town of Elounda is only a 20min walk so we went out for a few evenings during our 8 night stay. The beach is a tiny ***** of pebbles with just enough space for a sun lounger and next to a busy road - again great photography vs reality. So why do I say it’s misleading?? Well it does not have 5-6 restaurants! They have a very small buffet, a nice rooftop restaurant which you can only visit twice and then you have a poolside snack bar that change its name to become two other restaurants so a a la carte it is not! It’s like me changing the Volvo badge on my car to a BMW one and saying I have 2 cars 😂. The fact you are limited to twice a week, can only have one dish and the buffet being so small and repetitive really lets the hotel down and is the reason I wouldn’t return. As I say it’s nice and clean with good food but small so a great stay for a max of 5 days ‘if’ you are able to book into the restaurants.

So this was sold to us as a 5 star hotel. Absolutely NOT. We were a Honeymoon couple which we were told by Jet 2 this was a great hotel for this occasion. The Jet 2 representative at the time of booking was very enthusiastic about the hotel and said we would have a fantastic experience and would correspond with the hotel. WELL.. When we arrived which was late in the evening the reception was adjacent to the bar and the entertainment was in full swing, and we could not hear anything that was being related to us. No welcome drink and no idea we were honeymooners. (Not a great start). This is Not a 5 Star Hotel..... The pool area is shocking, not enough sun beds, the pool is poor and there are absolutely no areas to sit and have a drink. There was a sort of roof top bar, but it was never open. The all inclusive buffet was short of diabolical, certainly not 5 *. Our room was lovely although very small but with a fantastic view. The beach was very nice and there was a bar and grab and go food and drinks area. We were offered an evening out at there sister hotel Dome Elouda Autograph and that is definitely 5*. Superb. Elouda and Plaka are fabulous and have some fantastic restaurants. I'm sorry but I would not recommend this hotel and the feeling we had from other guests would be the same.

Fantastic stay at luxurious hotel, great weather. Staff and meals tremendous. Room compact with great views. Warm welcome too. There are restaurants with themed evenings and most visitors are all inclusive. We loved the main restaurant and Christina the supervisor made us feel so welcome - nothing too much trouble. The beach is perfect for swimming and cooling off and there is a bar there too.

We recently stayed at Domes Aulus Elounda for our belated honeymoon, and it was an absolutely perfect experience from start to finish. The atmosphere of the resort was really relaxed. The room was fantastic; we stayed in room 623 with a private pool overlooking Spinalonga, and it was a dream. The room was clean and comfortable, with excellent amenities including a great shower and air conditioning. We were in Cool Living which allowed us access to all the a la carte restaurants (book in advance) and the pool and bar at the top of the hill. We loved mixing our days up spending time at the beach. One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional staff. Nikos at the beach bar and Greg at the pool bar were particularly great, always going above and beyond and super friendly. The restaurant staff, including Christina, Efi, and Mary, were incredibly friendly and attentive. The shuttle drivers (didnt catch there names) were brilliant, super friendly and would call us mad for walking up and down the hill! Captain George and Manos were also great! The spa team, Eva and Sylvia, gave a fantastic leg massage. We are so grateful to ALL of the staff - thank you! As a vegetarian, I was pleased with the variety of dining options available, and the pizza at the a la carte restaurant was a standout favorite. The cleanliness of the whole resort was impeccable, thanks to the hard work of the cleaning staff. The hotel offers convenient services such as arranging taxis into Elounda and trips to Spinalonga. While the location is up a steep hill, the hotel provides shuttle services, and the stunning views make it all worthwhile. Elounda is within walking distance, and Spinalonga is just a short boat ride away. We would wholeheartedly recommend Domes Aulus Elounda to anyone planning a trip to Crete. In fact, we're hoping to return in September! The staff truly make this place special.

There are two parts to the hotel: cool inclusive and cool living. We stayed in the cool living section in a sapphire zen suite with outdoor jacuzzi. This is the perspective i will write my review from. The room - we were told by staff that at the beginning of May 2024, the hotel opened up two new room blocks in cool living - both blocks in the 800s. Unknowingly, at our very late check in, we were given one of these rooms. The room smelled really new so we had an inkling. However, on inspection of the room, it’s clear that the newly designed rooms are smaller than the original jacuzzi rooms and the lovely corner jacuzzi on the balcony has been replaced with a small, narrow bath with jets, suitable for one person max, if that! If you book a jacuzzi room, make sure to specify with the hotel that you do not want one of these rooms. We asked to be moved and I don’t think we’re the first people to do so. The new room - in the 700s - was much bigger and better. The jacuzzi was as expected. And we got a sofa in the room as advertised and another on the balcony. Otherwise the room was pleasant. What I will mention is that the housekeeping was very disappointing. In our first room, which we were in for 3 days, housekeeping never came. In the second room, housekeeping was better but it was as simple as the bed being made and floor being mopped around our cases. But there was never turn down service and it was hit and miss whether they replaced your water or not. Wed have to go to the bar to get water for the evening. This is not 5* standard. The food - as part of cool living you get access to the a la carte Greco Levante restaurant. This was a big factor in our booking as we like to eat a la carte. On check in, we were informed that we could only book this restaurant 2 nights in our 7 night stay. This is very disappointing as the food in Greco Levante is a higher standard that the rest of the hotel, there are theme nights you would miss out on. it’s the only three course restaurant and we had paid extra to have this luxury which we no longer were able to have. Very disappointing. The sushi restaurant was extremely high quality. However, we were limited to ordering 3 dishes each and this is not enough. We were left hungry. Why are we paying extra if our food is limited? The amphitheatre which has the pizza and Greek food trucks is a nice idea. The food is very fresh and tasty. However, they only allow you to have one main course and a small dessert in a glass, as it would come from a buffet. I’m on holiday, have paid a lot of money. Why can they not offer starters and sides? Again, we were left hungry. Breakfast in cool living was nice. Disappointing that you had to make your own coffee from a machine. This didn’t make sense when there is a coffee machine at the pool bar at the other end of the restaurant. There is no a la carte breakfast which is ok but disappointing for a 5*. Our first impressions were great, arrived late at night after a swift transfer from the airport. A lovely warm welcome from the receptionist. Very happy with our room, although up a steep hill was fine for us as we’re very mobile. Worth noting if your less able, there are golf buggies to take you up and down. The private beach is great, lovely safe swimming and pool bar, Nikos very helpful and efficient. Plenty of snacks and soft drinks available. We found the buffet excellent, plenty of choice at each sitting very fresh and loads of variety. We booked into the 2 al a carte restaurants but was left underwhelmed by both, didn’t find the quality as good as the buffet. We did eat out 2 evenings too, as we wanted to try authentic Greek cuisine.The biggest let down was the drink/alcohol situation. Now we are not big drinkers but found actually getting a drink from the bar quite a frustrating challenge. The girl taking orders at the bar was forgetful and quite surly if we enquired where our cocktails were after a 25 minute wait. This happened on several occasions & I complained but the situation didn’t improve and we weren’t the only people upset at this situation, after all we paid for all inclusive. After several disappointing evenings in the so called bar, we brought our own wine and sat on the balcony which had more atmosphere than the bar! You seem to be limited to 2 glasses of wine with dinner too, it was very rare we managed to get 3 with our meal. We also struggled to get the coffe pods and milk replaced in our room each day, in the end we purchased a jar of coffee from the supermarket. Overall this is a great hotel but we wouldn’t stay again as we feel we didn’t get the all inclusive we paid for.

The location is phenomenal, and the hotel from initial impressions is wonderful, but you must bring grippy shoes as the accommodation is nestled on a hill. The rooms are small, well furnished with quality beds, super bedding and fluffy towels. We received some lovely touches on arrival, a welcome drink, biscuits and wine in our room, tea and coffee facilities . The Dones”s hotel has three restaurants, two require a booking, which is simple to do on the web after scanning a QR code, you need to book these immediately as they get booked up! The Yellow Sea sushi bar is a top quality 5 star restaurant with attentive staff, fantastic delicious sushi and well worth the tip we left, the amphitheater is a pizza or kebab restaurant, which is far from 5 star, doesn’t match the mediocre kebab shop where we live. We did have some ******* during our stay, which we brought to the attention of the hotel manager, he acknowledged these short comings and rectified them immediately. It was lovely to see how reactive and passionate the hotel was to put these things right. In summary a fantastic location, lovely hotel with some early season finessing to put in place.
