Bastion Hotel Schiphol Hoofddorp

Aeropuerto de Amsterdam Schiphol Hoofddorp|A 3.33km de la Hoveniersbedrijf Van der Weiden
Terrible hotel. Firstly the connection isn’t great bud wise to get to the hotel and it’s quite a drive from the Airport. Arrive at reception to find nobody there now this is about 23:10. Hsve to press the bell twice for service. Check in is simple just given the key, told nothing about breakfast prices, Times or even checkout times by the woman on the desk. The room wasn’t clean. Under the bed was dirty, Shelves dusty, Light fittings have clearly been removed yet the plugs for them remain. The bedding had marks on it and the coffee machine still had the pod left in it from the last customer. I go down to reception to borrow a charger as I forgot my adapter from the UK. That was provided free but only because they had a few spare. I then go to reception about 1am to use the vending machine (Which is broken) so i approach the bar (Which is closed) and ask if they sell drinks of which i’m directed to the vending machine which is broken all the buttons don’t work. I was ready to really loose it and complain when the guy goes in the back and gives me two pepsi cans. Now the sleep quality is shocking! The walls ain’t great but we were woken up at 8am by the doors banging. Sounded like they were coming into the room luckily bobbed back off about 8:40am hiwever…. At the hotel checkout is advertised at 12:00 on booking.com (I looked this up after being woken up) so the maintenance guy comes to the room bangs on the door at 9:30am asking to get in to take a water sample off our shower… at half 9 in the damn morning. Why on gods earth do you need to do this during your customers sleeping time… Seriously unhappy with everything about this hotel and will not recommend it to anyone… So the transfer back to Schipol: There’s a sign that clearly reads please book as there’s only 6 spaces per transfer but when I ask to book i’m told I don’t need to book to transfer. There’s literally nothing about this hotel that’s worth mentioning. I’d highly avoid it. I have requested a refund for the awful stay i’ve had. Doubt I would get one but worth a try. Avoid at all costs.

Van der Valk Hotel Haarlem

Haarlem|A 3.96km de la Hoveniersbedrijf Van der Weiden
Stopped for breakfast before my appointment in Haarlem. Bus stops are directly before the hotel (you'll see grocerystore and a gas station) but you will need to walk to main traffic lights a few mminutes away (go to right when facing restaurant windows) and then turn left to get to main hotel entrance & parking - hotel is surrounded by a sort of moat. Thank you for the walking adventure Van der Valk😆 Once inside you can get to restaurant a floor above via escalator. Greeted by host - confusion over confirmmed reservation as it was not immediately visible. Quickly found and cleared up. My reservation was 08:30am on a Friday. Not really busy at this timme. Lots of window searing available. Huge windows so even if not directly seated ( on opposide across) you still have a ”window view”. Staff member clearing tables was off the bat -first to give greeting and friendly short banter. Breakfast buffet is unbelieavably i***ressive with a mmind boggling array: good coffees, juices, smmoothies and mmore than your standard buffet offerings. On top of this -fried eggs, omelets being prepared by cook station. Sparkling wine included if that is your thing. Sure is mmine!!! A fantastic deal for €18,50 per person! I was able to catch up with Anoushka -meeting & events staff!!! A wonderful and esteemed colleague - we worked together a few years back at a co***etiror hotel. So this in particular mmade mmy visit even mmore special! I can absolutely reccommend Restaurant Van der Valk in Haarlem as a goid deal for breakfast. As I go back and forth to Haarkem frequentky -I will mmake it a point to stop in mmore often - breakfat and lunch. Don't mmiss out!!!
