My wife and I stopped at the Abbey Inn for a celebration meal with two friends and had a wonderful evening. We had booked and were met by Kelly, the landlady who was so friendly and helpful. We had a three course meal which was truly delicious and the chef took time out to come and see us. The pub is right by the river, has a great car park and is very clean and full of ambience. It turned out that the chef that night was the landlord, Phil who, like his wife, was very friendly; in fact all the staff were friendly and helpful. Anyone who is visiting Devon and is travelling between Exeter and Plymouth would be hard placed to find a better venue for a relaxing meal and a clean, pleasant room. Stayed here for 4 nights in August with my husband as part of our break away. Will start with the positives first - room nice and clean, breakfasts really nice and lots to pick from, parking included and free access to the grounds. Now for the negatives - wedding on whilst we were there which consisted of a lot of noise until midnight on our last night which wasn’t ideal with a 6hr drive home the next morning. I completely appreciate a wedding being there as the place has lovely surroundings however we weren’t made aware of this when we booked and had we known we would have booked somewhere else as it was like a nightclub. Another massive issue was the guests staying in the same wing as us especially those in the room above ours. Constant banging of doors all day and night resulting in every night having broken sleep which was really frustrating. Did bring this up with the bar manager on our 3rd night as he was moving another guest at 10.30pm to a new room due to issues with theirs. The following morning the manager of the hotel did get in touch, offered to move us rooms which I declined due to having to move all our belongings and not actually being moved away from the noise that was to come with the wedding that day. I did explain how the experience whilst staying at the hotel had put a downer on our break and that I felt we had been ripped off. She went away and sorted a partial refund for us which is appreciated. As lovely as the place is, I really wouldn’t recommend it to anyone due to the issues we had making it impossible to actually get some sleep. Lastly I have never stayed anywhere where there is no staff available at night. They finish at 7/8pm and that’s it then till the next morning. This I feel is a little on the unsafe side of how to run things in case an emergency happens who can help??

Mi esposa y yo vivíamos en Devon, a sólo siete minutos a pie del hotel Ilsington. Después de tres o cuatro visitas y estancias, hemos sido impresionados por el confort de las habitaciones, la gama de instalaciones del hotel y el spa, la calidad de los dos restaurantes, y sobre todo por la excelencia del servicio del personal que crea un La zona de la ciudad es un lugar ideal para el hotel.

El personal era increíble. Llegada a las 2 pm debido a la cancelación del tren. El personal era muy útil y acomodable. Incluso permitieron un check-out tardío considerando que sólo estaba 1 noche. Nada era demasiado para pedir. Vean disfrutar del trabajo y estaban ansiosos de hacerlo más arriba y más arriba. Las habitaciones son viejas pero muy limpias. El restaurante era excelente. Muy grande ubicación junto a las tiendas de bespoke y a pocos minutos a pie del centro de libertad. Se recomienda muy 👌
