Harbour View

The location is superb overlooking the harbour. The room was very clean but basic. Breakfast was what you would expect, cereals available, full English cooked and help your self to toast. It was perfectly adequate for our two nights. But there was something missing. It was all very impersonal. On arrival we had to retrieve a door key from the key safe by the front door. But we didn’t have the code so spent some time parked on double yellow lines whilst phoning the owner. Having obtained the code we let ourselves in and were greeted with a box on a table with our name on it. Inside was our room key and some instructions. And that was our welcome to Harbour View guest house. After depositing our cases in our room, I followed the instructions to park the car. Wow! Talk about tight. I have a large estate and I was only just able to squeeze it in. If you are not a confident parker, this is definitely not for you. Breakfast the following morning was fine but it was not at all welcoming. There were people in and out all the time and as the front door opened into the dining room it felt like we were secondary to whatever else was going on that morning. There was no offer of extra coffee or tea, we had to ask. Breakfast the second day was not much better. People constantly in and out the front door, they seemed to be acquaintances of the staff. Tea was served in a tiny pot that barely filled my cup once. Come on, what does it cost to provide a drop more hot water in a larger pot? We left that morning and handed our room key to the member of staff for which we got a thank you. No “hope you enjoyed your stay” or “have a safe journey”. It was an adequate clean room in a good location but lacked any ambience, not what you expect from hospitality venues in this day and age.

Great place to stay. Excellent location overlooking the harbour. Comfy room at the front with wonderful sea view. Fresh cooked breakfast. Friendly staff.

Lovely b&b we didn’t en suite but did have private bathroom literally in touching distance from our room stunning views breakfast was lovely scrambled egg was beautiful we were in room 8 great views but not good for anyone with mobility problems great little b&b

Enjoyed our stay here - lovely room, great location and breakfast really set us up for the day. Couldn't fault it. Everything was ready for us when we arrived and felt very welcome. Even though nobody there to meet us - all information was sent through and received call to check we were ok. Would definitely stay again. Have to pay £7 for parking (24 hours) worth every penny.

Our room was small but perfectly comfortable for sleeping and sitting in front of the superb view over the harbour. Breakfasts were cheerfully produced and we had good choice and quality. It's very well located for access to Brixham's excellent harbourside restaurants.

The room we were assigned was in the back with no harbour view at all. The room reeked of mould. We left and found a fabulous location and accommodation elsewhere. We will not return. Too bad because I have stayed there previously and liked the place - but assigning rooms that are mouldy is a poor strategy. If you get put in in room 9or 10 run - far away.

Incredible views over the harbour. Staff were fantastically attentive, so friendly and helpful. Especially the lovely Nikki who we saw every morning. She does a cracking breakfast and has loads of local tips. Her recommendation for the Prince William for dinner was spot on. The room was clean and very comfortable. It is everything expect and more from a harbour side b&b. Other reviews has said that the cooked breakfast was small, but it was perfectly big enough for us! How much do some people eat?! Also, some reviews said you're not met on arrival but you are given really clear instructions by email and by phone before you arrive on what to do, so it's no issue. And you see everyone in the morning anyway.

Clean place, traditional b&b, lovely setting. Old school, and friendly staff. Very relaxed. Love the self service check in and being able to check in so early. Good value for money. Lovely views.

Very pleasant stay. Stephen and the crew did us proud. We didn't expect too much with the weather and it didn't disappoint. But we needed to get away and the view from the hotel was wonderful. We, my wife Laurie and I send thanks for looking after us and wouldn't hesitate on stopping at the Harbour View again.
