Pleasant place for lunch stop

We had an unexpected hour transit in Mihara between trains. There are no ruins as such - just the moat. It is connected to station via a staircase. We sat on a bench and had sandwiches.

駅直結の城跡

三原駅のコンコース（改札外）から通路があって、簡単に天守台跡へ出られる。城の遺構は残っていないが、お濠ごしに見る周囲の景色はなかなかいい。新幹線のホームが同じ高さにあるので、列車が駅に入る様子を見ることができる。

客観的に見ると城跡に駅舎

三原駅構内から階段を上がると城跡に出る事が出来ました。新幹線ホームとほぼ同じ高さとなっており、駅とは反対の山側には眺望が開けていました。但し、城跡の真ん中に駅舎があり、今なら考えられない構造にがっかりしました。
