Location is excellent just beside the Wanda plaza which we wanted to visit. HOWEVER, the room is pretty warm and we couldn’t sleep the first night. After bringing a fan and better pillows in our room, finally managed to get some sleep. The indoor swimming pool is for adults only but there were a few kids in the pool😱

Lo mejor de este hotel es la vista. Se puede ver el río desde las habitaciones. (Ver fotos del amanecer y el atardecer). Además, las habitaciones son espaciosas y están completamente equipadas, con un refrigerador grande, lavadora y un televisor con proyector. Además, está muy cerca de la frontera, lo que facilita el transporte. Hay restaurantes y un pequeño supermercado junto al hotel. El hotel está en la planta 30. El ascensor es un poco lento. En general, una estancia muy buena. Excelente relación calidad-precio.

La ubicación del hotel es buena, la decoración está muy a la altura y el entorno es limpio y hermoso. El servicio general es excelente y la nevera está bien surtida de bebidas. La única pega fue en el desayuno: en muchas mesas no había cubiertos. Los huéspedes tenían la comida en la mesa esperando los cubiertos (palillos + cucharas + cuchillos y tenedores). Es la primera vez que veo algo así, y siguió ocurriendo durante el desayuno. Espero que el restaurante preste más atención a este detalle tan importante cuando haya mucha gente y tengan que rotar las mesas en el desayuno.

Antes que nada, gracias por la consideración de mejorar la habitación. Sin embargo, después de hacer el check-out, me llamaron para preguntarme si me había llevado los palillos de la habitación. Me pareció muy poco profesional. Un hotel que cuesta mil dólares la noche no debería molestar a los huéspedes preguntándoles si se los habían llevado, ¿no? Eran unos pantalones de goma normales y corrientes. No creo que cuesten ni un dólar el par.

The reception staff were very friendly and immediately helped me solve problem. The high-speed rail station is next to it, my room is fully soundproofed. But the cleanliness of the room needs improvement. On the first day of moving in, I noticed a smell of smoke in the shower room, and there were two cigarette butts on the ground near the hanging clothes. Also, on the fifth night, when I got back to my room at nighttime, I found some tissues in the toilet, which made me feel uncomfortable. Emphasize that it is not mine.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is ideal, on the beach. We had an incident with noise on the first night from two wedding parties and this affected our sleep. The receptionists Hugo and Hestia did a superb job in rectifying the situation by offering us a new room and an upgrade at the same time. Most of the front desk staff speak English, and all the staff are very friendly and attentive. It’s a fantastic hotel for a family. We got wonderful weather and were able to spend plenty of time on the beach even though it was winter.

Transporte: relativamente remoto, pero cerca de la ciudad universitaria, con un corto trayecto en autobús desde el hotel y una parada de metro. Pero no siempre hay barcazas cortas disponibles.
Instalaciones: Hotel nuevo, interruptores de hotel totalmente inteligentes, cortinas. Trae una bañera con vista al río para que puedas darte un baño y disfrutar del paisaje. La piscina infinita de la azotea da a la Universidad Sun Yat-sen. Destaca también el enorme balcón, con la Torre de Cantón a lo lejos. Es solo que el sistema de agua caliente no es muy bueno y hay que encenderlo durante media hora para calentar los platos.
Entorno: Ubicado en una isla, es ideal para hacer jogging, la pista para correr está a lo largo del río, por lo que puedes respirar oxígeno y disfrutar del paisaje, lo que hace que correr sea fácil.
Servicio: Como hotel de cinco estrellas es deficiente, en primer lugar no hay suficiente material y no hay edredones para camas supletorias. El portero tampoco se ofreció a ayudar con las cajas. El personal de servicio no tomó la iniciativa de saludar. ¡Todavía hay una gran brecha entre este y el hotel xx anterior! Necesidad de repostar

SSuyash BapnaI stayed here initially for 3 nights for Canton Fair Phase 1 and decided to come back for Phase 2 and stayed in Hotel Merlinhod itself due to great size of the rooms where in, it was really spacious, neat and clean. I arrived late around 2:30 am and received great service by getting my room and collecting couple of parcels that I had ordered from my supplier. The staff at the reception were also friendly and accommodating as Huo (Yanyan), May, and Mai were amazing at their work where in I left my luggage for 3 nights in the hotel and received it as it was. Overall, great place to stay.

吃吃货chihuoI booked this hotel despite knowing it’s a bit far from the city center, typically requiring a 45-minute to 1-hour cab ride or a 1.5-hour journey by metro (there are two metro stations nearby). After calculating the cost savings of staying here and using cabs versus staying downtown, I found it worth it. That said, if you’re on a tight schedule, the location might not be ideal.
One of the main reasons I chose this place was its newness, spaciousness, and the inclusion of a washing machine, which is essential for longer stays. However, since the property is newly established, many nearby F&B options are still under construction, especially around the hotel area. That said, there are nearby malls like Wanda Mall where you can find food and other necessities. A café and a mini-mart are already operational, and the area might become livelier in a few months.
Cleanliness:
I have to put it out there that I am particular when it comes to cleanliness. While the hotel is clean overall, there seems to be a lack of consistent training for the housekeeping staff. For instance, despite the initial unclean room being promptly addressed and replaced, I noticed a pile of hair/dust in one spot from Day 4 until the end of our stay—it remained untouched. I do hope that the cleaning staff would take extra precautions and being more thorough during their rounds. Overall, the cleaning staff were friendly and apologetic when reminded, but it would have been better if the cleaning was consistently thorough without needing reminders (almost on a daily basis).
Amenities:
I appreciated the Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom—it was a nice touch and made my stay more enjoyable. However, I did have an issue with the towels. While they were new and clean, I wished they had better quality. The towel piles would shed and stick to my body and face after use, which was frustrating. I hope this is something the hotel can address in the future.
Service :
The service has its highs and lows, but I will still give it a 5 as the staffs are friendly and apologetic for the issue caused. For instance, when we initially received an unclean room, the staff promptly moved us to a clean one and offered complimentary breakfast (though we didn’t end up using it). The hotel’s service WeChat was efficient, and staff responded quickly to requests. However, there were a few hiccups. For example, when we requested detergent and later asked for extra water upon delivery, the staff appeared slightly taken aback and commented on why we didn’t request both at the same time. While it might have been a minor misunderstanding, the comment and attitude felt unnecessary. One major inconvenience was the WiFi, which went down twice during our stay—once for an entire day. This was especially frustrating as I was on a work trip and had to rely on roaming, which incurred additional charges. While the staff apologized and reimbursed us, stable WiFi is essential and should be a priority.
Overall, this hotel offers good value for money if you don’t mind the distance. I do hope that the hotel will have a better cleaning SOP in future.

MMiss Ina伊娜We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The food in the restaurant was amazing. The service was good. The breakfast was decent. The beach was very clean. They also had lifeguards to watch out for the people. Its a beautiful place and highly recommend it.
The only thing that was not good was that there is no shading on the beach area and you can even put up something to shield the kids from the hot sun.

PPoh Yin LianHad a very satisfied stay here. We booked for the family room and we've got to see the whole 岩前村view, actually quite nice at night. The room renovation was really pretty and i like their whole hotel vibe and style. The reception staff was also really nice servicing. Was feeling regret tgta only stay at Zhaoqing for only one night. Will come back to this stay if i ever have the chance.

The biggest strength of this hotel is its unbeatable location. You’re steps away from McDonald's and Luckin Coffee for quick bites and caffeine. A well-stocked mall is right beside the hotel, making it super easy to grab daily necessities. The best part? A lively night market is directly opposite the hotel! This makes finding delicious, affordable local food incredibly convenient any time of the evening. The whole area is very 热闹 (rènào - bustling/energetic) – perfect if you want to be in the heart of the action.
Cleanliness: 3/5 – Okay for the Price, Manage Expectations
The general cleanliness is acceptable, if you adjust your expectations. It's definitely not a 5-star luxury experience, but for a budget/mid-range stay, it's passable and reasonably maintained. Don't expect immaculate perfection, but the basics are covered.
Room & Atmosphere: 2/5 – Persistent Smoke Smell
The major downside, especially in the rooms and hallways, is a strong and pervasive smoke smell. It's quite noticeable and doesn't dissipate easily. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common issue in many hotels within the region, but it's definitely present and unpleasant here if you're sensitive to it.
Breakfast: 1/5 – Strongly Not Recommended / Unhygienic
Avoid the breakfast option. Hygiene standards here are very poor. I personally observed small cockroaches crawling on the tables in the breakfast area. This is completely unacceptable and a major health red flag. Do yourself a favor and skip it entirely. Thankfully, with McDonald's, Luckin, the mall food court, and the fantastic night market opposite, you have plenty of much better (and cleaner) alternatives nearby.
Overall:
This hotel is all about the location, location, location. If being in a super convenient, vibrant area with easy access to food, coffee, and shopping is your top priority, and you're on a budget, it serves that purpose. The cleanliness is tolerable for the category. However, the strong smoke smell in the rooms and corridors is a significant drawback, and the breakfast is dangerously unhygienic (cockroach sighting confirmed). Choose this hotel for the prime spot if you can tolerate the smoke and definitely plan to eat breakfast elsewhere.
Who should stay: Budget-conscious travelers prioritizing an unbeatable, lively location who aren't sensitive to smoke smells and will skip the hotel breakfast.

SSTK sginLo que nos gustó de alojarnos aquí fue que la zona está llena de restaurantes y bares, lo que facilita encontrar comida. También hay tiendas con productos básicos y está cerca de centros comerciales como Pop Mart, Hot Maxx y Miniso, así que no hace falta ir a ningún otro sitio. La habitación, en nuestro caso, estaba bien. Aunque no era lujosa, tenía lavadora, cocina de gas, sartenes, platos y una olla eléctrica; ¡de verdad que se puede cocinar! La presión del agua era buena y se podía regular la temperatura entre caliente y fría. No había bidé, pero no fue un problema. Se proporcionan toallas desechables, así que recomendamos traer las suyas si no les importa. Nos alojamos un grupo de cuatro, con dos habitaciones y una cama adicional en el salón. La habitación era espaciosa, luminosa y espaciosa. Sorprendentemente, para una villa enclavada en las montañas y junto al mar, la habitación no mostraba ningún signo de humedad; estaba increíblemente seca.
El sinuoso camino de la planta baja es bastante único. Es pequeño, pero serpentea y da vueltas, lo que lo convierte en un lugar ideal para dar un paseo después de cenar. Y, efectivamente, vi al legendario gato gordo y perezoso 🐱.

AAmideeThis is a lovely place to go for a night or two to just relax. Also a pet friendly place, so that makes is ideal for me! The front desk are really helpful and you can add them onto your wechat to contact them directly anytime. They provide all essentials to be comfortable. I did ask if I could have a kettle for inside my tent, for coffee, which they were able to provide for me. Dinner options, you can choose chicken hot pot or the crawfish hot pot at their reception, which you can do yourself by your tent, or tell them you’d like to cook it in their dining area. Otherwise you can also barbecue your own things at your camp sight. It’s suggested to take your own food to bbq there, as their choices are limited. They did provide me with some sweet potato when I asked, and the chicken hot pot was really tasty and filling! The tent was clean, comfortable and has AC. We stayed in the smallest tents they provide, and it was perfect for what we needed. They have a swimming pool facility that is open from 4:30-6:30pm only. It would be nice if was available in the morning as well!! There’s not a lot to do in the surrounding area of the resort. You can do fishing, go for walks through the forest along the stream. I suggest to take some activity things to do like badminton or other board games etc. There are great play areas for kids, and fun slides are incorporated into the designs of some of the rooms. There are plenty different types of tent facilities and some have some really nice privacy looking onto the stream and have some outdoor hot spring tubs (plunge pool). The small tent porches don’t have privacy, but they are adequate for a short stay in nature. Getting there is easy by didi or hired car, getting back you just need to make your search on the app more wide because the location is a bit isolated from busy areas, but otherwise that’s also not a problem.
