I like this hotel. I've stayed here for 2 times. They provide a free transfer from and to Railway station and a city centre. Very good onsen with a scenic view on Sakurajima. You can also rent a bike here in the hotel for a reasonable price. Convenience store is right by the hotel.
It was very easy to get to from the train station using the tram. The room was as advertised and the bathroom was little but very functional, it's always fun to see how well they use the space in Japan! It is very close to the terminal passenger ferry as well. We stayed 2 nights !
If you are traveling alone or with one luggage, this place is highly recommended, the rooms is very small.
We arrived at 5pm and couldn't find the hotel entrance the first time(do not use Google Map), you can directly enter the hotel from inside of the JR Kagoshima Central Station. The hotel offer bath salts with a pleasant smell. And the breakfast voucher can be used at the buffet restaurant (before 9:30) or at the coffee shop downstairs (if you get up late, you can also use it as a lunch voucher at the coffee shop). There is a window that can be opened, and there are many restaurants to choose nearby.
Hotel Kyocera is probably one of the largest hotel in Kirishima. It has two buildings ( main and annex) and looks quite good architecturally. They are connected by a bridge on the 3 floor which has the walking escalator- and a display of the various places that have been listed as world heritage sites in Japan.
Inside the main building, there is a glass church which is ideal for weddings. In the basement, there is a large onsen, and spa. It is certainly a good place for having a holiday. The overall condition of the rooms are good- and the rooms are of good size. My room faces the East and has a perfect view of sunrise!
There are two large parking lot and parking is free.

🛌 The room is spacious and clean, offering breathtaking balcony views of Kagoshima Bay and the majestic Sakurajima volcano, with all necessary amenities provided.
🚙 Parking is available for 1,000 Yen per night. The hotel's covered parking area has limited capacity, but there is a large open parking space conveniently located just across the road. Remember to present your parking ticket to the receptionist each time you arrive at the hotel!
🛍️ The hotel is conveniently situated just a 10-minute drive from the main shopping and dining district. Plus, there are several convenience stores right across the street for your late-night snacks. 😋🌙
Good location, Just a 1-minute walk from the JR station. Many shops around. Easy to find food.
Sound proof was quite ok although I could still hear some noise from the train sometimes. Since the air-conditioner could generate only the hot air, I had to open the window but it was not noisy.
Toilet was comparatively bigger than other hotels at the same level.
Price was good
Could communicate in English

UUsuario invitadoSplendid sea view from a beautiful, large, bedroom.
2 beds instead of one big. This could have been better to me.
Service is excellent. People are nice, always trying to help, being resourceful on how you may handle your visit of the island. Top notch people.
The real ”could be better” thing to me is, the restaurant that close really early (8.30pm if my memory is good), does server only buffet for 80kY.
The buffet is of quality mixing Japanese, Chinese and Western styles of food. And also comes with nice desserts.
However, having the choice to get only one A la carte dish could be a real plus. I personally do not want to get a full buffet for every and each of my diners.
And if you do not have a car, finding another place to eat may become a challenge. There is nothing around at a walking distance except a supermarket.
The breakfast is definitely qualitative. And if you intend to move early for visiting, the hotel can prepare you a breakfast and a lunch box for no overcharge. Basic but good and appreciated.
To have another plus, they serves a local craft beer made with local cedar trees. Quite a good and interesting one.
FFook WahThe hotel is so comfortable, the room is excellent, so luxurious. The restaurants are excellent, spa is great. Location is great to get around Kagoshima, plenty restaurants within walking distance.
UUsuario invitadoEnvironment: The hotel boasts an excellent environment, particularly with the in-room rotenburo (open-air bath). The private dining room adds to the exclusive feel. Its location within a quiet community ensures a peaceful and relaxing stay.
Staff: A significant advantage for international travelers is the availability of English-speaking staff. Their willingness to communicate through messaging apps makes pre-arrival arrangements and on-site communication smooth and efficient.
Transportation: Direct airport bus service to a nearby bus stop offers convenient access to the hotel. However, it's important to check the bus schedule in advance, as departures are infrequent. Planning accordingly will ensure a hassle-free transfer.
Location: The hotel's location provides the convenience of being close to a convenience store, just a short five-minute walk away. This makes it easy to pick up any necessities or snacks.
Pricing: The pricing is reasonable, especially when considering the exceptional amenities included. The private rotenburo is a luxurious highlight, and the inclusion of both a fabulous breakfast and an elaborate, multi-course dinner (12+ courses) represents excellent value.

UUsuario anónimoHuge bath tub within the room. Slightly bigger room than japan's average because of that but living area is smaller as a result. There is a sofa in this room but that takes up the space for luggage. Overall pretty good. Just opppsite the jr station with underground access. Sakurajima was covered by clouds when I was there.
UUsuario invitadoEach lodge is very spacious with a nice, high ceiling, all in bare wood and containing all the essentials: A nice kettle, a good fridge (silent), a TV set, and also a sofa. The ensuite bathroom, shower and toilet is clean and very nice. There are mosquito screens on the windows and the outside areas are nicely landscaped. The restaurant area is a joy, really lovely. Uninterrupted views of the sea and the beach, which is a 3 minute walk away, through the extensive grounds.
I was especially pleased to be picked up and dropped off at the airport and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. There were no language issues at all.
Given all factors, I do not hesitate to give 5/5 stars, however, I am extremely particular about food, and the restaurant suffers from the the common issue of re-using the frying oil ad infinitum. Overall, food quality was ”OK”, but not great. However, the exceptional location, and all other aspects of the accommodation, mean that one can still enjoy a perfect beer in a perfect location and not care too much about the cuisine.
UUsuario invitadoEven though this is an old hotel and it shows in its facilities and overall design, the service and amenities you get as a solo traveller is worth thw price you pay for an overnight stay. The room is clean albeit small but sufficient. Some points to take note if you're planning to book:
This is close to the central station so it's juat a block away from major shopping and transport options.
The hotel closes its front desk and doors at 11 pm to 7 am. Checkin before 11 pm. Going in and out of the hotel at that time is possible if you use your key card to open the front doors.
Walls are thin and it's very possible that you would hear your neighbor.
There's free coffee and drinks at the lobby.
