Where to start? Don't believe claims that this hotel is 4 star or particularly dog friendly.
Booking conversations didn't fill us with confidence.
On arrival, reception was unprofessional, chauvanistic & used a tiresome repetitive sales tactic to try to get a dinner reservation.
1st impressions of our groundfloor room (good for dogs) were positive - comfy mattress & nicely decorated bathroom. As unpacking, we noticed the large stain on the ceiling, bizarrely there were 14 power sockets yet the bathroom had no useful surfaces, did'nt even have anywhere to hang towels or a loo roll holder!? The protective ***** was still on the door bar, skirting board was unfinished & disturbingly with Covid to consider still, there was no soap. Oh & 1 of the lights kept flickering annoyingly & the huge TV didn't work properly. Most of these can be seen in photos.
Reception failed to solve any of the issues, not even the soap - told a delivery hadn't turned up ....shouldn't they have reserves or go buy some!
We would have slept well on the comfy mattress, but for the noise of doors & of staff shouting on their break at around 11pm!
The rain shower in the morning did not disappoint, it was lovely & there was definitely plenty of hot water, unlike others reviewed. Neither was there a fire alarm , thank goodness!
My husband used the bar & it was good.
Breakfast was not pleasant - confusion due to the dogs.
The grounds need a lot of attention & dog poo bins! Only stayed 1 night thankfully.
