We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Araliya in Unawatuna! The rooms were incredibly spacious, clean, and very comfortable, making our stay feel like a home away from home. The buffet spread was impressive, offering a variety of delicious options that catered to all tastes. A special mention goes to the Beach Club mojitos – they were refreshing and perfectly crafted! What stood out most for us as a family was the resort's attention to children. The kids' pool, play area, and kids' club were a hit with our little ones. They had so much fun, and we truly appreciated the effort put into creating such child-friendly facilities. Additionally, the presence of lifeguards and security at the beach gave us peace of mind, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We highly recommend Araliya for families and anyone looking for a comfortable, safe, and fun-filled getaway!

Positives The place is not catered as a hotel ideally instead it’s more of a the pass visitors to eat drink and spend nice time at the beach and that's pretty much it. Negatives The customer service of most of the staff was not good and were not attentive at all to what we were requesting and asking us the same question multiple times probably because of language barrier We booked an executive suite however the line was dirty in our room. The hotel was playing loud music most of the day until 11 o’clock at night which I’m perfectly fine with however you could hear the music in the rooms as well making it difficult for kids to sleep in the room at the same time. We had no Wi-Fi in the rooms and the hotel seem to be clueless how to fix it and easy thing for them to say was that it was an Internet service provider issue. however, all of a sudden on the second day the hotel was able to give us a new user password to a different WiFi. My question is why not give it on the first day itself when the Internet issue was there. The hotel is in no way classified to be called as a small luxury hotel, but more of a mere three star hotel strange to say but we were at a tropical place and that ran out of pineapple juice and hence they could not serve any pineapple based cocktails their answer was yes it’s on the way and should be there in 20 minutes however even pass post 45 minutes the staff either forgot to mention that the drinks were available or just forgot about our order Also getting into our room there was construction happening below our room and above our room as well. so when entering the rooms smelling cement and silica and once you are below the room you are hearing the sounds of cutting wood or marble On the flipside all these comments have been passed on to the manager and the necessary staff. However I would highly discourage hotel guests who think of a dream hotel stay at this property - kindly avoid and if you want to use the property as a place to take nice Instagram photos videos while enjoying your meals and beverages at the beach, nothing more Yes the review has been harsh however really in our 4th trip to SL this property was the 1st major letdown.

Отдыхали в конце ноября и остались в полном восторге от отеля! Отель расположен на самом побережье, далеко ходить на пляж не надо, все чисто и ухоженно. Есть свои лежаки, но их не супер много, поэтому лучше занимать заранее. У нас был номер с потрясающим видом на океан. Утром наслаждались рассветами, вечером засыпали под шум прибоя. Не жизнь, а сказка :) Субботы там достаточно шумные, так как в соседнем заведении проходят дискотеки. Но нам это сильно не мешало. Кто не мог заснуть, шли на тусовку)) В номере был чайник, кондиционер, вентилятор. На ресепшене можно было взять переходники для розеток. Постельное и полотенца не идеальные, но нам было не критично. Кстати, шампуня и геля нет (только мыло), поэтому нужно брать свое. Уборку в номере тоже стоит просить самим, так же как и воду. Очень важно отметить дружелюбный персонал, который всегда готов помочь и ответить на все вопросы. Мы чувствовали себя максимально комфортно и уютно, прям как дома. Также стоит отметить завтраки в этом отеле. Они сервируются на побережье с прекрасным видом на океан, что создает незабываемую атмосферу. Хотя меню завтраков однотипное (омлет или жаренные яйца на выбор), порции достаточно большие, плюс всегда свежие фрукты. В целом, мы остались очень довольны своим пребыванием в этом отеле. Уезжали с желанием вернуться) Рекомендую всем, кто хочет провести отличный отдых на побережье океана.

The owner, Anu, is incredibly friendly and always ready to help, even late at night. His wife prepared delicious breakfasts and kept the rooms spotless. The colonial-style guesthouse was a wonderful place to relax, especially on the veranda in the evenings. I recommend choosing rooms on the second floor, as the first floor lacks proper windows and has poor sound insulation. Also, be prepared for cold showers on rainy or cloudy days, as the water is heated by the sun. In the future, it would be great to maintain the current visual style while adding small details to the rooms, such as shelves, lamps, plants, or chairs if possible. Overall, this guesthouse is a great budget option for a visit to Sri Lanka. Thank you, Anu, and I hope to return someday!

La vista es grande y atractiva durante el atardecer. Mantienen los locales del hotel y el jardín limpio. Pero cuando entramos al hotel, nos sentimos como un lugar aislado/descuidado. El camino está roto y ambos lados están cubiertos de árboles y busques horribles. No hay nadie para mirar hasta que parquemos y vaya a la recepción. La gente estaciona los vehículos donde quiera que bloqueen otros vehículos (tenemos que esperar casi media hora para mover nuestro vehículo porque alguien lo bloqueaba).Tenemos un lujo con acceso a la piscina.El diseño del baño es tan estúpido y incómodo. Las habitaciones no son agradables como las fotos que han publicado en la web. Las habitaciones están bien, pero los muebles y el diseño de la habitación son baratos. Hay un muy pequeño personal. Se parecían a algunas personas aleatorias encontradas para el pago del día. El restaurante no tiene un AC adecuado. Nos sudábamos mientras tomaba comida. Sólo había un tipo que nos sirvió que ni siquiera llevaba una máscara. Gracias especial debería ir al jefe. Ella había organizado comida muy deliciosa para el presupuesto limitado (oímos cómo discuten el presupuesto de comida y todo. Eran demasiado ruidosos y perturbadores). La cantidad de comida es muy pequeña. Ha tardado más tiempo para servir. El desayuno era un buffet que era mejor. El techo está inundado cuando llueve. Se desperdicia una vista tan hermosa. El ascensor está fuera de servicio y tenemos que subir a 4 pisos al restaurante. (se ha informado en otras opiniones publicadas hace mucho tiempo). Esta hermosa ubicación se desperdicia debido a mala gestión.

If you're looking for a relaxing escape with a peaceful and serene ambiance, Thambapanni Retreat is the perfect place. The calmness of the environment truly soothes both the mind and soul. The staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable, consistently going above and beyond to ensure that guests are well taken care of and feel right at home. Special mention goes to the chef, Mr. Lionel, who was exceptional. He expertly prepared any dish we requested, exactly to our taste, and with impressive speed. Additionally, Mr. Anil, the Restaurant Manager, was very accommodating, even arranging complimentary transport to access the amenities of their three sister hotels in Unawatuna, where guests can enjoy all facilities free of charge. The daily room service was impeccable, with everything kept spotlessly clean. Our stay at Thambapanni Retreat was an unforgettable experience, and we’re already looking forward to visiting again soon.
