Palazzo Mata Boutique Hotel

We booked the Junior Suite with balcony which was a split-level room with the bedroom on the mezzanine floor. The hotel is newly renovated and the room was modern and clean with nice furnishings. We weren’t keen on the stairs which were ‘rustic’ unfinished wood and looked as though they were installed by someone who had limited carpentry skills. The mezzanine bedroom location meant having to use the stairs in order to get to the bathroom which had to be carefully negotiated during the night. The layout of the room was a bit impractical with a seating/sofa-bed area facing inwards and the bathroom next to the entrance door. The bathroom was quite small relative to the size of the room. The room advertises a balcony but this was only a Juliet balcony with no seating area but it did have a nice view. There was a mini bar with juice, water and soft drinks provided free of charge and tea/coffee making facilities. The breakfast is served in the restaurant and was one of the best we had during out time in Puglia. The hotel restaurant was not open for dinner during our stay and due to the public holiday no restaurants in the local area were open so we were forced to walk 20 mins into town to find a meal. The hotel felt safe but the streets to the rear of the hotel did not, even during the day so we would recommend only walking in the better lit areas along the sea front if venturing out in the evening

This is a very new hotel in Taranto. The hotel itself is very nice. The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is excellent. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The only problem with this hotel isn’t the hotel but the location. The old part of Taranto is very run down, dirty and makes you feel unsafe to walk around.

Without any doubt I highly recommend this hotel. I stayed here for 5 days and it was just superb. The hotel is located in the traditional part of Taranto with a fantastic view of the harbour area which is literally across the road. It’s a short, easy 10 minute walk to the commercial side of town. The rooms are large, spacious and well equipped with everything you will need. A super comfortable bed and a super powered shower. The free mini bar was restocked daily. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant of the hotel is outstanding serving a great selection of Italian dishes, fresh fish and seafood at very reasonable prices. The is no ‘bar’ in the hotel but very attentive staff serve drinks promptly all day long to an outside area which overlooks the waterfront and tied up boats. Simply stunning! (and the local wine is very drinkable!) All staff are very friendly, attentive, professional and so very helpful. The a**osphere is so special. All respect to the staff and for the owner/manager Angelo, who does a great job here; a true sample of excellent Italian hospitality!

Perfect hotel. Great help, superb diner, friendly, smooth silk beds, own parking when available, vibrant admosfere, nice lounge in front. Few minor issues: internet slow (many hotels in Italy), shower not as hot as we wanted, extra shiplike windows in our room, no way to cover from the sunlight and be aware, ceilings and doorways in some cases low. Hurt my head going to the bathroom (1,95cm).

Delizioso hotel di nuova costruzione posto sul lungomare, curato nei minimi particolari, con camere arredate con buon gusto e stile. Frigobar gratuito.Colazione abbondante varia e di qualità. Ristorante annesso di alto livello. Siamo stati accolti e seguiti con gentilezza dai proprietari, simpaticissimi e disponibili e ospitali. Una menzione particolare al giovane Alessandro che ci ha fatto sentire a casa nostra. Il top per chi ha in programma una visita a Taranto.

Tutto eccellente! Hotel curato nei minimi particolari grazie al gusto raffinato della signora Teresa. Ristorante di pregio grazie all'attenzione nella scelta delle materie prime del sig Angelo. E un grazie particolare al giovane host Alessandro che ci ha fatto sentire come a casa.
